This youth hostel has a lovely cosy and clean sitting room with gorgeous loch and mountain views from the windows. From our family bedroom we could hear the stream down below. There is a beautiful private garden on the loch edge which has some flowers, bird feeders and a picnic table. It is not impossible to do day trips to the Isle of Skye from this distance. However, there is plenty to do nearer to the youth hostel. You can just wander out for a short stroll along the lane straight from the hostel, or you could climb up any number of mountains on your doorstep, or take a drive over the ratagan pass to the glenelg ferry where I think there is a nice cafe or where you can hop on the turntable ferry for a fun sail. Its all a beautiful area!

Creaking stairs very loud in the morning as other guests are leaving.

Cleaness
The hostel is very expensive for what it offers. We paid for breakfast but had to clean it up afterward. There weren't many bathrooms for the girls. The best thing was the lake very close, but with the mosquitoes, we had to run from the car to the hostel.
