Unusual and fun artefacts were on display which made the hotel memorable. The location was central and convenient to shopping, restaurants, museums and the river.
The room was smallish, and had no coffee or tea available. The breakfast area was crowded and I got the impression they didn't care a fig if I wanted a second cup of coffee.

I stayed three nights in a clean room with shower and toilet. Out the window was a lovely view of the neighborhood church. The decor of the hotel is quirkly and humorous, a fun background one wouldn't often see. Entry after hours was very convenient and despite the central location, the hotel was quiet.
The room had few amenities. There was no coffee pot or fridge. The breakfast was meager and it seemed as though the coffee was rationed to one cup.

Location for solo travelers.
Shower mold and bathroom wall patches. See photos. Mosquito bites at night. Bank credit card machine not available for paying city tax. Advised to go to ATM for cash to pay instead. Carpet going upstairs moldy and smelly.

location is excellent and the reception service was friendly, suitable for a city trip where you dont spend a lot of time in your room
it is an old building as mentioned and some areas smell a bit weird, but the room was totally fine, we stay in an inner-courtyard room and had no light, if this is important to you i would recommend to book a different room, there is no door to the shower (toilet is seperate with a door)

Great location for exploring Lyon. Stored our cycles overnight. Early check-in.
Steep narrow steps, small room and bathroom with reading lights mounted on the headboard that you bang your head on and cramped breakfast room with slow service

The property was in a great location. Easy to walk to the sites, restaurants, stores, and buses. It’s also right next to a big church, so easy to find. The hosts were very nice and even loaned me an umbrella on a very stormy day.
Be warned that there is no elevator and you have to take your luggage up to your floor on a spiral staircase.

Hotel is in an excellent location. Just a few minutes walk to all attractions, about 5 minutes walk to the bridge to the old town, and most recommend restaurants within a 10min walk. Easy to access by both public transport and taxi from airport. The staff were very friendly and it was easy to get in and out of the building when staff were not around via access code, this made it feel safe. Rooms were small but as someone who was solo travelling it was a perfect size.
WiFi was basically non existent on the 2nd floor and reception bad if you were to use your own data. There’s no aircon just a fan, this was fine for me in September heat but some people might struggle during the summer. The street was loud at night at the weekend but that’s to be expected staying in a city.

The hotel was very quirky which we liked and the location was excellent, it was walking distance from everything we wanted to see
The stairs were tricky but the description does warn you of this. I think the lighting on the stairwells could be improved. Also we were locked out on our first night as the bar closes at 8 which we hadn't realised and we hadn't taken the entry code with us, however this was probably our fault for not checking with the hotel staff before we went out to eat.

Great location, great staff, good bed, access via a code - no need to wait for the staff to check in
Toilet and shower in separate 'rooms'. Limited options of leaving your stuff while the hotel staff is off (siesta time), no A/C

Quaint and easy to enter even when staff is not there. Steep stairs but Jules was quick to get me up to my room. Superb location. Nice breakfast.
Tiny room but okay for a night or two. Stairs were a challenge for older person. Property was Euro in that the windows open onto an atrium like space.

Location
No A/C, hot room, loud outside when trying to sleep with the windows open, 72 stairs up a spiral staircase to get to my room, no P-trap in bathroom , so smells like sewage crap! Not ideal! Said b-fast was included, but I would just need to cover the tax which ended up being €12.80 for a croissant and a coffee pretty scammy in my opinion!

There are a few steps if you are on the third floor but the exercise did us good ;)

Outstanding service.
They were so friendly and helpful and they went out of their way to share delightful local eating options and supported us with our luggage when we needed to store it temporarily

Le Boulevardier, is a lovely quirky hotel , in a fantastic city centre location.
The room was lovely, it was very quiet, and the breakfast in the morning was nice and served with a smile.
It is nice sometimes to stay somewhere with a bit of local personality and history, rather than a major global hotel group , with a big lobby and lifts !
Old buildings will have their challenges, so I guess the spiral style staircase, would make the hotel not an ideal choice to anyone with mobility issues , or bad knees etc .

funky little place with lots of memorbilia. It was fun and unusual
There were all circular staircases to drag yourself snd your luggage up and down. Thid
is not a place for those who have any mobility issues at all.

Lovely hotel,very central,quite quirky.
The only difficulty is getting your suitcase up the spiral staircase to your room.

A lovely, quirky hotel - the oldest in Lyon apparently! Very central - great for exploring on foot! The room was clean and the shower hot!
A kettle or bottle of water in our room would have been great!

The hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to lots of bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and good value for money. We had a great stay.

Nothing.
Hotel was filthy. Checked our whole group out after 1st night of 3 night stay. That should say a lot. Showed the manager pictures of the filth in each of the 3 rooms. Human excrement on toilet brush, old toothpaste stains on bathroom walls. Shower didn't drain properly leaving you standing ankle deep in water, probably due to the crap that was blocking it. Zero Wi-Fi as advertised. Such a pity for a historic building. It's like the soul has been torn from it. This place needs a snap inspection by online booking sites as it is detrimental to your site by accepting, what appears blindly, what the description of the hotel is. So bad that it has made me wary of using booking.com again.

This place gets an A++ for atmosphere! We love an inn with eclectic tastes and this hotel certainly has that. AND a good degree of coziness!

An exceptional hotel, oldest in Lyon, fantastic atmosphere, great staff and excellent location for the main attractions, particularly the old town just over the river

Great staff. Excellent check-in system. Location central. Clean and comfortable room.
Owner Cédric went well beyond his duties in order to perform a service to rectify a problem for me. Very kind gesture on his part. Much appreciated.
All good!

Clean and very conveniently located in the heart of Lyon.
Wifi was not very reliable, so not really a hotel for business travellers who need to work from their room.

The owner was very helpful. The hotel is in a perfect location.
One just has to be careful regarding the stairs. The breakfast was not worth the 9 euros paid

Very Nice room as such, well decorated and clean
Good shower,
Room 14: The doors to the small cour rather than Windows to an open Space . It was as though there were no Windows.
The café / bar is closed at 22:00 already which is a Pity.
It is nicer to arrive in a hotel with someone at the reception ..

Excellent location. Decoration in original old Lyon style.
The absence of air conditioning is the show stopper during hot days. There was a ceiling fan, but probably not installed properly (the blades did not move much air even at full speed), therefore you need to keep the windows wide open at night to be able to lower the temperature in the room. But, again in summer time, there is a lot of cars driving by and people moving around the hotel's street and it is very noisy until 2:00am. It was hard to get some sleep before 2:30am. The hotel does not have an elevator, if your room is at the top floor and you have luggage it can be tiring.

A hotel with real character in a wonderful location just a short walk from the Musee des Beaux Arts. A delicious breakfast.
None of the keys left out for guests arriving in the evening had my name on, so it was little confusing working out which room was mine! Not a big deal though.
