Great location near the lake. Rustic feel. Mosi-nets over the beds. Super comfy beds. ok kitchen.
Main hotel had swimming pool and breakfast was great.
More utensils in the kitchen. The front door lock got stuck, so we couldn't get in using the front door. Wasn't prepared for the amount of road noise from the fairly near main road.
Evening meals were fairly ordinary (pizza, pasta and steaks) and they ran out of beer (bottles).
Gift shop could do with doing a deal for scrub, soap and oil etc.

Beautiful setting in the Klein Karoo. We watched the sunrise from the large porch every morning. The bed was very comfortable. Shower nice and warm. Cosy and romantic.
Communication with the property wasn’t up to standard. There was no hair dryer even though they advertised one. Very rustic. Not for people who want a glamping experience.

I enjoyed the cabin feel
No real dam in summer to kayak on, and the dam itself was dirty and full-on rubish

Location nearby the dam, providing an abundance of birdlife to see.
The main bed was firm and comfy and the bedlinen was clean😀
The unit inside was terribly dirty and dusty, on arrival, the veranda table was sticky with gunk from previous guests, whilst the balustrades were strewn with old & dry bird droppings🤬🤬
The cabin is poorly insulated🫤 and when the breeze comes up the dust on the rafters settles everywhere in the cabin, your clothes, food, and kitchen surfaces… and there are no cupboards for your clothes just wall hooks, and thats how dust and dirt is deposited onto your clean clothes😔
Two of the main cabin lights did not work as well as 1 bedlamp.
The two plate stove is so old and buggered, it takes 20min to make underdone scramble-eggs, and the only other way to cook a meal is to braai or microwave.🤷🏼♂️
Basic cabin maintenance is lacking, and many of the door and window apertures are either bent, broken or missing … when we tried to open the curtains in the main bedroom the pelmet fell down onto my head - I had toe fetch tools from my car to properly affix the pelmet to it’s bracket on the wall 🤬🤬
In comparison our colleagues had booked elsewhere within a 2km radius of “Soetdoring Selfsorg” for the weekend, where they enjoyed well equipped, modern and comfortable venues, and paid about 30% less for their accommodations…
Sadly, we will not be back.
We now know there are many better equipped & priced options available in the Oudtshoorn area…
