The location is great if you want to look around or even spend the day around the old town. It’s also only about a 20min walk into the new town for a good night out!

A little noisy early hours with people heading home from a night out.

The location was really good, all the staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a safe in the room which was included also a kettle and mugs were available as well. There was housekeeping every day

Only there was a smell of drains in the room which was worse at certain times but not enough to put us off

Hotel is right on the front. Room had everything you wanted. My room was at back so super quiet. Directly in the old town so ideal if you're not looking for the boom boom shake the room and something a bit more Spanish........24 hour front desk for keys etc.

Nothing really. There is no bar or food but you can get all this within 100 yards anyway...........

On the 1st floor there was very loud noises from next door and a party… Also from around 6am the reception area is noisy and this travels up the staircase as there is no door

Maybe room a bit lower down as we were on 6th floor. I didn’t mind but my partner doesn’t like heights. It wasn’t a problem though.

The staff is polite and welcoming. The water pressure in the shower is good.

A two-star hotel charging 200 euros per night doesn’t need to have a jacuzzi in every room — but it must be clean. This one wasn’t: there was dirt in the shower, in every corner of the toilet, and on all the walls. The towels had brown stains. The renovation is as cheap and worn-out as it gets: the “parquet” flooring is loose, the toilet isn’t fixed to the floor, and the balcony door can’t be locked.

This was our 2nd visit, there are improvements being made to the entrance but it wasn't that much of a problem as we both used walking aids at the moment. It's a nice little hotel with basic facilities, the rooms are ok a little small but we had a sea view which was perfect for us as we like to chill out and take our time. We will definitely stay again 👍

This may be a little trivial, but there wasn't a luggage table in our room as previous, I did ask for one (twice)....but never arrived. As stated,the entrance is being improved and will be alot better once finished.

The property was having some building work done at the front nothing major and never disrupted us once. The hotel is the Old Town and was in an excellent location to travel about. Hotel reception was very good, all the staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. Thanks for the stay, would go back.

We always enjoy our stay at the Mar Blau, the staff are always lovely and very helpful, the rooms are clean and adequate for our needs. We will be back again

The hot water was a bit hit and miss this year, but it didn't affect our stay

I liked that my room overlook the beach. The lovely location on the outskirts of the old town. I appreciated how clean it was. The staff members were all very friendly and helpful. The shower was hot and powerful. I can't say enough good things about this hotel, it's brilliant value for money.

There is nothing I didn't like about this hotel.

Could not be positioned any better to the Old Town and the beach. Lovely rooms, well presented and decorated. Powerful Air Conditioning positioned adjacent to the bed. Provided room fridge was on when we arrived, lovely balcony views over the beach - not too loud during the night.

Check in can be a little late at 4, although if your room is ready before, they’ll message you.

Good location. Staff very friendly and professional.

The beds were uncomfortable. We had 2 single beds joined together that kept separating. Pillows weren’t comfy. Beds were hard.

Location was excellent as directly opposite playa de Poniente beach, at the start of the old town. We found it great value for our two night stay.

We arrived just short of 2 hours early but hoped to store our luggage until check in time. There was sign up to say back in ten minutes, so we waited. The receptionist came out eating so we apologised but honestly she was very hostile that we had interupted her lunch. At check in time we went back, this same female receptionist was checking in a Spanish couple and again she was huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes. The Spanish lady that was being checked in was looking around at us and the couple behind and shrugging as to why the receptionist was being like this. So then it was our turn & because we hadn't completed the online check in first she waved her hand to dismiss us to the back of the queue. I tried explaining there was a fault on their system as i had tried twice to do this & had taken a screen shot to show it wasn't possible but again she was awful - the couple waiting behind us then came forward ( he was Spanish and his wife was a Brit leaving in spain for twenty yrs) and got really mad at her as they had witnessed our treatment & the other couples too and had also had a problem checking in online and HAD ALSO turned up to the ' back in ten mins' sign not knowing how long that sign had been up ( 2 minutes or all day!) & had ALSO been greeted with the same hostility we had. The receptionist was waving her hands arrive at us and the couple were saying we are all paying customers and your attitude is shocking. We were on a little road trip, staying in Alicante & Villajoyosa beforehand and had no problem checking in online beforehand at any previous hotels. The error was with them. Reception is your first point of contact and what a shame they had such an unpleasant individual sat at the desk. On our two day stay, you are instructed to leave your key at reception when leaving the hotel. My husband had to pass it her as I was done being spoken to like garbage.
