Got severe food poisoning from this hotel restaurant

Literally got food poisoning as a result of eating in the restaurant with all the usual effects snd consequences . Hotel did not accept any responsibility or offer any support or compensation. Very disappointing

Great hotel with brilliant rooms & lovely food options

It was a very quick stopover for me & I wish I could have spent longer there The location is great especially if arriving by bus/train the check in was welcoming & smooth,the room was lovely,well equipped very clean with a great big comfortable bed & a balcony & a great bathroom The restaurant was great with lovely delicious food & service, the lady who greeted me for breakfast was very helpful in making sure I had a nice quick coffee & arranged some breakfast food for me to take with me because I had a train to catch & not much time to spare which was very nice of her. My short experience of hotel Schiffahrt was very positive & worthy of 5 stars,thank you

Good choice for an overnight stop.

We had two rooms for two couples booked for just one night as we were travelling through the area. The hotel overlooks a road and main train line to the beautiful Walensee. One of our rooms had a lake view and the other faced rearwards to the mountains. I was concerned about road and rail noise but I need not have worried as the double glazing from our lake view room was excellent at keeping the noise out. The rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable, with decent bathrooms and large showers. We ate in the restaurant and were impressed with the food, which was very tasty and prices were what you would expect in Switzerland. The staff were all very friendly, especially the young lady at reception and the waiter in the restaurant who spoke excellent English and forgave our poor German.

We enjoyed the night's stay at the hotel and were very comfortable.

The view from the room over the lake and mountains was beautiful. The train line runs directly in front of the hotel alongside of the lake, but we could hear very little with the windows closed. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was very good.

No refrigerator or coffee in the room. No fan in the room for hot days.

Great rooms, rude and racist waitress

The rooms were clean and spacious. Provided fresh towels everyday.

The breakfast was terrible. Had only a few basic options. The waitress was rude and racist. She never served us coffee despite reminding her a couple of times, even completely forgetting that we ordered. At the same time, she serves the table next to us who ordered coffee just along with us, even apologizing to them for serving late.

A place to stay when near Lake Walensee

You get what you pay for, and the hotel's offerings reflect the price. That being said, the hotel is spotless! My well-sized en-suite room overlooked the beautiful Walensee, and I even had access to a spacious garden—perhaps they gave me this room because of my dog? The hotel restaurant was excellent—nice atmosphere, efficient service, well-sized tables, a great view of the lake, and a fantastic selection of Swiss food. Schifffahrt Hotel may not be one of the glamorous hotels you’d find in Dubai, New York, Berlin, Madrid, London, or Vitznau, but at a third of the cost, it ticks all the boxes! Perfect for a short stay!

We will be back. Beautiful scenery, nice location with great food and staff.

This is a nice Swiss feeling hotel in a very nice location on the lake with great food. You walk under the street in front of the hotel and you are on the lake with a nice walking path all along the lakefront. The scenery here is the most beautiful. The restaurant must be the best in town because you must make a reservation for dinner but it is worth it. The staff are the nicest and most helpful. This is a day's drive from our house but we are planning a trip just to come back here.

This is not the hotel's fault, just remember Switzerland is not cheap but I think this hotel and food are worth it in this location.

Highly recommended hotel and restaurant!

Staff are really helpful and responsive. I asked for a ice pack and the receptionist actually organised the kitchen staff made one for me using ice blocks and sealed plastic bag! Fantastic mountain and lake views from the balcony of the room! Can't complaint :) Love the restaurant! We had dinners there for five nights and were never disappointed!

The location is very good for one who want to sleep over for skiing in Flumserberg. Dinner was good, breakfast was ok. Bed was comfort.

It would be great if there is a ventilator in bathroom, it will be more useful esp. in winter.

The hotel is easy to accès. There is parking. The room is spacious and cosy, without any smells from tabac of cleaning products, with the balcony. The neighborhood is nice, by the lake Wallen and the mountains. The breakfast is good. The staff is helpful.

There were works starting early in the morning on the ground floor in the rooms. There are two floors only. This was very noisy from 7:30 am. It was not announced by the hotel in advance that they will have the make up works in the rooms. Our room was just above the constructive works. This was the only negative surprise.

Serious staff and very friendly lady in the restaurant! There is a beautiful view off the balcony and you can go swimming in the lake.

A lovely room, great views, easy to find, good parking.

The room was larger than expected, very nicely done. Not a lot of noise from other rooms. Easy parking. Nice terraces to sit on in the cooler evening. Quite comfortable for just lounging. Good breakfast included. Dinner was very good.

No fault of the hotel, but the train tracks are right across the street and the trains are very noisy. Bring headphones or earbuds to drown out the noise, or ask for a room on the back side of the hotel. Not as good a view, but it's probably a little quieter.

Beautiful little hotel.

Beautiful location right in the lake. Our room was very efficient and extremely clean. The beds were quite comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant and everything was delicious. The breakfast included with our room was very good.

Noise carried from the hallways, from other rooms and from the nearby train of windows were open.
