6.0 / 10.0
Great location for the university.
The bed wasn’t just small, it was a very basic and u comfortable mattress.
9.0 / 10.0
Excellent hotel for a short getaway to explore the city. In a lovely location a bus ride away from the centre but with lots of nice bars/restaurants to visit in the vacinity too. The area felt safe and included parking. The room was very clean and comfortable and all in working order. The complimentary coffee and croissants for breakfast were delish. Table tennis, vinyl room, lots of lounge areas, it’s a cool place. We would reccommend.
The bed was a little squeaky and small but this was explained prior to booking so was expected and for 1 night, we still slept ok. Neighbours were a bit rowdy but again, being in a student area on a weekend this was to be expected and we fell asleep naturally regardless. It wouldn’t put us off staying again.

I’ve stayed in the Jonas hotel several times and I find it a good place for a short visit. It isn’t central so you need to get a bus (I usually get the 81/82 from Moor Market and walk the 10 minutes from Ecclesall Road, or it’s £8-10 in a taxi). It feels safe, well lit grounds, 24 hour check in desk. The communal areas are nicely decorated with good aesthetics, clean, etc. Staff always seem friendly and helpful. It’s very reasonable, was by far my cheapest option in Sheffield for the date I booked (a Saturday evening).
I think I got a bit of a “dodgy” room as there was large visible parts of the head rest on the bed which needs repairing, doesn’t really give welcoming ambience! (will share photos) and the metal on the hinges of the toilet is splintered meaning you need to sit quite far from the loo to avoid painful scratching…!
I didn’t have time to test the TV this stay but I’ve stayed before and the WiFi was useless for TV streaming. The WiFi was fine on my phone for this specific visit. I was out for the majority of my stay for this visit so no need to use the TV, but seeing as it’s been an issue previously, I’m just advising other travellers regarding this.
I understand the Court is an old student halls and therefore no kettles in the room but it is a bit of a pain sometimes to have to go and get/buy a hot drink from downstairs rather than just make one from your room.
I think my room/the rooms generally could do with a bit of a spruce up but for the price you pay it is a decent place. As I said in the other section it is not in the city centre but as long as you’re driving/happy to get a bus or taxi from the actual city centre, it’s fine.
It can be noisy at night due to it being a student village but I pack earplugs and can sleep fine.
I know it sounds like I have a lot of complaints but I would stay here again. I just think they should look at where they can revamp some of the bedrooms, and to ensure the WiFi is reliable so if people are staying for more than one night/not out for the entire night, they can reliably stream Netflix etc.
Overall though, yes I’d stay here again, for the price, to stay in a city for the night it is decent.

Affordable, convenient and very comfy bed

Room opposite, massively loud music all night, complained to staff, they did nothing. Couldn't sleep at all. Got up and went at 0539 as no point saying any longer

Can't complain much about the hotel itself. Didn't see much of it as went straight to my room after check in (was around 8pm at this point)
For the price, the room was really good. Spacious and comfy. The WC/shower was good, too. Didn't realise that breakfast was inc, till the gentleman at check-in mentioned it. (Breakfast wasn't much. Just tea/coffee and some croissants. Better than nothing)
I liked that they did a "later" check out, although I had to leave by 9am.
Would book again if I'm ever back in Sheffield
Not the hotel's fault. But it was rather noisy the more later it got into the night. Like way past midnight.
Some disturbance from couple of drunk guests, most noise was from outside. Although the hotel is situated in a rather quiet area. This may have been cos it was a Saturday night, I guess.
As my room faced the front of the building/entrance side, people would use that area to have a smoke so just heard constant talking and could smell whiffs of smoke (and weed at one point 🫠).
Which was annoying as I had to wake up super early to leave for training.
Overall, this was more of a people issue than the hotel.

Great location, clean and functional. Great for the price
Nothing really - it’s a good value hotel and if you expect 5 star, you have to pay for it

The hotel is in a student accommodatiobn campus so made it very convenient as I was visiting my daughter at uni . Clean and comfortable enough for single occupancy, though there was a bit of an odour in the bathroom. A pastry and a coffee/tea at breakfast was an unexpected surprise.
Parking was limited. I could only park at the hotel for two out of my four days there. There is on-street parking nearby but it's a bit of a trek when you have luggage.

Paid for parking not available on sat and last place by luck on fri ended up leaving day early. Didn’t realise shared facilities ie fridge and kettle

Generally nice but issues with noise.
Constant flushing sound and loud high-pitched noise from the plumbing at 5am. Room opposite had a 'closed for maintenance ' sign, which could have been the source of the noise- if so, why put people in the neighbouring rooms? Mouldy bathroom too.

Price, parking possible, basic necessities covered. Basically student digs so nice and relaxed.
Lift levels Vs floors are funny/different!
Sink in-between toilet and toilet paper= bang head on sink in the night!
No kettle in room etc but coffee n pastry free at breakfast time :) and I hear there's shared kitchens

Beds are a bit hard for my personal taste.

First come first serve parking, the spacess fill up quick. Managed to get a place but may be a strugle on busy periods.

Room is clean and well laid out (desk, plug sockets, lamp all conveniently placed), large shared kitchen with lots of fridge space, morning coffee was good. Staff were very friendly and reception was always attended when I needed something.
Hotel was quite warm throughout the whole building and in the room - I had to leave my window open for my whole stay. Kitchen cutlery also had no forks or spoons, only knives, but reception staff were able to provide me with a spoon on request.
8.0 / 10.0
Quiet and safe area to stay in because it’s student accommodation village.
When leaving the door automatically close, the sound is too big. If anything can be done to prevent the big sound, it would be better. The door is not sound-proof, and you can hear people taking in the corridor. However, this is a common issue in any kind of hotels.

I must apologise if I have the young man's name incorrectly, Nihar was excellent. Polite, welcoming, genuine, and engaging. He had gone to the extra bother of ensuring not only that I had I an extra pillow (spinal condition), but also that the room allocated was away from smoking areas (asthma).
Please see earlier reviews of mine, as the housekeeping, and front of house colleagues do such an amazing job.
Going above and beyond what could be expected of them all whilst fitting in their degree studies.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish Nihar the very best of happiness and success in the future and congratulations again for graduating.

Really great value. Clean and comfortable
Would have been nice to have tea and coffee in the room

Excellent value for money! Very basic room (student accommodation) but the bed was comfy, it was ensuite and had WiFi and a TV.
The reception is open 24 hours a day to buy coffee/tea/cold drinks, and there was a complimentary drink and croissant at breakfast.
Ideal for an overnight stay! Will definitely use it again!
No kettle in the room but there is a shared kitchen.

Simple, but clean. Also I liked the social space on 2nd floor
I really liked the idea of the pool table and table tennis - but unfortunately the cloth on the pool table was ripped to shreds. They also had an arcade machine which I switched on, but it wasn’t working. A real shame as that stuff if in good upkeep would really set it apart

Great location, clean, cheap and beautiful views from my room on 4 th floor! Nice coffee downstairs. No oatmilk though?
My room key wasn’t working so i had to go all the way down from 4 th floor to get it replaced. The young guy in the reception didn’t even apologise. Good do with being more polite and customer focused. Felt like it was my fault key card was not working.
Also no hairdryer! I read reviews before and brought my own.
Very noisy people on my floor. During the night lots of noise, opening and closing doors with slamming, shouting in the corridor. Weren’t even students but older people! Same first thing in the morning. Obviously not hotels fault.
Would start again!

Visiting my (adult) son who lives nearby but doesn't have room for us to stay overnight... Just needed a bed/shower/toilet for the night. The room was smaller than the Premier inn/Travelodge equivalent but the price reflects that. Small double bed (cosy), TV, desk, space to hang clothes and coats, plenty of plug and USB sockets and small but clean and tidy shower/toilet..... Then the added bonus of a coffee and pastry downstairs in the morning. We would definitely stay again when visiting.
Free parking but out on the adjacent street. Only one large towel provided despite the room being booked for 2 people..... Only small things really.

Just needed a room over night to go to a music gig but the extra touches of hot drinks and snacks available to buy 24/7 and the light breakfast were a bonus. As was being able to get a late night drink at the bar of the hotel next door!
Being on a university campus made me feel secure.
Understandable, but no kettle in the room

Free coffee and pastry at breakfast was great! Rooms were cosy, ideal for a one night stay in Sheffield. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Room sizes are very small so not suitable for longer stays, but everything else was great!

Cleanliness and complimentary breakfast
Not enough parking and difficult to find the parking. Could possibly give added directions on booking confirmation

Colourful, pleasant entrance, good shower, friendly staff
Bed had a big dip in it, well used mattress, room too hot and noisy when students from adjacent block left and returned at night

The room was basic but clean and suitable for a short stay.
I didn't find any close restaurants, but I didn't have much time to look.

Thank you very much indeed for placing me in a room away from the main smoking areas (entrance).
Your constant battle to keep the hotel and facilitates such as kitchens, and laundry room clean and fresh smelling is incredibly appreciated.
You all work extremely hard, particularly the housekeeping team who have the back breaking task of making the poorly designed built in beds.
I love the added professional flourishes such as the folded loo roll ends into a point.
The following issues are NOT the fault of Jonas Hotel or the colleagues that work there;
Other guests can sometimes be inconsiderate by letting doors slam, smoking in bedrooms, and leaving the kitchens in a mess.

Nothing
Uncomfortable beds, tiny rooms, staff laughed when I asked to borrow an umbrella. It was uni students arrival day and the marshalling staff were allowing students families to park in the hotel car park who weren’t staying at the hotel so we had to park on a verge on the grass. There was one croissant left at breakfast when we came down in the morning too. Overall not a great experience and won’t be coming back!

Clean and tidy. Decent bed and shower. The hotel is situated within a 15-minute walk from the sporting event I attended. Also, easy to get to via Bus and walking when travelling to and from the Railway station.
Morning Coffee was lukewarm.

Location and room was cosy
I don't believe it was value for money.
Its a uni dorm room very small lol but cosy.
Pool table cloth was ripped not impressed!
If your going to market as a hotel for £70 per night
You should provide parking. So please be warned parking very limited and during the week you could get a ticket!!@
and more than one small coffee cup in the morning, yes that's right only allowed one small cup of coffee ☕️
Staff was very helpful 🙂 and nice 👍.
Hotel was clean 👌

Nice and neat. Close to the Peak District, even closer to city centre.
Nice little park nearby.
Great place if you need some space or need to get some work done.
Rooms and the whole hotel too hot.

Good price, has kitchen facilities, easy parking.
Mattress is very hard and rooms far too hot. Thankfully we knew to ask for a fan in the room which helped a lot.
