Absolutely fabulous in every way

Where do I start! A wonderful, warm welcome, beautiful reception area and a truly beautiful bedroom. From the decor to the Nespresso machine in the room and quality toiletries in the (gorgeous) bathroom, everything had been thought of. It was very useful to have a small safe in the wardrobe and to have space and a wide window ledge in the bathroom (a window in the bathroom!!) on which to put toilet bags etc. Continuing the theme of thoughtfulness, to have a station on the landings with jugs of milk in a fridge and biscuits was beyond expectations. Staff were genuinely lovely and friendly. A welcome to the breakfast room included a clear explanation of the buffet and of how to order hot items. The range of items was amazing - from fruit yoghurt, cereals and some delicious bread to the comprehensive menu of cooked items. All served with smiles. The coffee was good too, which you don't often find from hotel coffee machines. A big advantage is the on site parking available. Location is good, with some nice coffee houses and restaurants within easy walking distance. The city centre is a walkable distance (around 30 mins). Apart from the beautiful building and room, the staff really made our stay. Everyone greeted us and smiled at us when we passed them and nothing was too much trouble. Frankly, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough - one of the best stays we've had.

The fact that we were only there for one night! We'd happily have stayed for another few days, if time had permitted!

Perfect for a University visit.

Staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Bar area was pleasant with a decent selection of drinks. Great location for visiting our daughter at university Endcliffe accommodation. Great value for money on the Sunday evening we stayed.

The room was small, very hot during the night & no view from the window.

Excellent value hotel close to uni accommodation

Excellent location for visiting our son at uni. Lovely hotel, very clean and comfortable, warm and pleasant, great shower, communal areas bar etc very nice. Easy and free parking which is a real bonus in Sheffield and great value with breakfast included too. Staff were all polite and helpful. Top up stations are a great idea. We had a wonderful visit and will definitely stay again.

Rooms were on the small side but fine for a couple of nights. Really good choice at breakfast but poached eggs overcooked. Ran out of milk jugs in top up station one evening but these little things did not spoil our stay - they simply explain the 9/10 score. It was otherwise a perfect stay!

Lovely hotel, would stay again

Lovely Staff, very friendly The refill stations were a nice touch Room was comfortable

TV remote did not work ( we didn't mind but I think it should have been checked) Coffee machine didn't seem to work, flashed red lights and took the pod but nothing happened even when following the instructions There was quite a bit of noise both mornings like bins being dragged loudly

A little jewel tucked away in the outskirts of Sheffield.

The shower, comfortable bed, peace and quiet, windows that opened, spacious room and excellent breakfast.

Room was small but did have everything we needed. Breakfast was good but service was slow. Didn't like the coffee machine as very loud and could hear them in other rooms. Would rather just have instant coffee personally

Convenient and comfortable stay.

Clean and comfortable room with large bathroom. Very convenient for university and Manchester Road end of Sheffield. Car parking on site.

No lift. We were on 3rd floor at far end. Less able people should ask for ground floor room near reception. Breakfast only average.

Lovely old property, great location if you are not wanting to be in the city centre. Staff were all delightful, the room was very comfy, warm and elegant, breakfast was fabulous.

Think I might have preferred a straightforward kettle and some nice coffee bags to the coffee machine provided. But the coffee machine was a lovely touch.

We have stayed here multiple times when visiting family in the area and it has always been great

Staff were very friendly and on hand to help. Breakfast is excellent value for money, especially with the addition of a hot option.

The rooms are spacious - one thing that would make the rooms excellent would be a small fridge where milk could be keep for example for the coffee/tea machine. The biscuit/milk station didn't always have milk so even small UHT milks in the room would be useful.

Can't wait to return

The location is excellent. The room was very good with a comfortable bad. There was complimentary tea coffee and biscuits. Very good toiletries in the bathroom too. Great breakfast too. Just to add, all the staff were so friendly and helpful.

A really pleasant stay over christmas, and so convenient for us.

good location for us.....just 8min walk from family christmas at our in-laws. Room was nice if a bit small. Staff were pleasant. excellent breakfast. Had really good chat with the chef after complimenting him on his scrambled egg!

useless coffee machine in the room......produced tepid water no use for tea. Only found out on leaving that kettles were available. Plz scrap the coffee machines and put kettles in. Stupid little glass pots of sauces and jams.....not very environmental.

lovely base for visiting Chatsworth house

Free parking, nice quiet room, large bathroom, good breakfast with as favourite "eggs benedict". We came to visit Chatsworth house this weekend; it is a short drive from here. An extra bonus are the cookies in the hallway; nice.

Overall a good stay let down by breakfast.

Breakfast was lukewarm and coffee was pretty tasteless. Breakfast seemed to have gone downhill since I last stayed a few weeks ago.

It was lovely and quiet and to be able to wonder around the house and grounds was great and all the staff very helpful and friendly

Good apart from the broken night’s sleep.

A character building well kept and with good facilities. Extra biscuits and tea making items in the corridors to top up your room with , were a lovely bonus. The shower was also probably one of the best I’ve sampled, especially after a walking day in the Peaks.

There was only one downside. The student halls are alongside the hotel. Unfortunately it’s the first year’s who made a lot of noise heading home down an otherwise quiet neighbourhood. Two nights of broken sleep was enough. Our last experience had been while they were on summer recess. A much better experience. Got our sleep!

Another comfort stay.

Stayed a few weeks ago. The location is ideal, it’s in a nice area of Sheffield. The hotel was very quiet as it was a Sunday night. The coffee machines on each room & the snack stations are nice touches.

The fact the hotel is surrounded by student accommodation blocks is a little unusual but they don’t interfere with the hotel & there was no noise or disturbance emanating from them during our stay.

An excellent place to stay when visiting Sheffield

We stay regularly at this hotel when visiting friends and family. It is clean, warm and has a nice ambiance. The staff are very friendly (we would particularly commend the evening check in on this occasion, where the member of staff was very helpful). Breakfast is generally very good, and cooked to order. The bar is a n ice place to have a drink at the end of the day.

Unusually for this hotel, one of the towels was not fully clean - it looked like the cleaning process had not been as thorough as usual. Breakfast was excellent but could have been slightly warmer for my preference.

Nice hotel. Quiet, accommodating

The carpets in the hallways need a deep clean. They looked quite dirty compared to when we stayed a year ago. Staff weren’t the same and didn’t give a welcome or acknowledge you at all when checking in or whilst at the hotel. Reception/staff could definitely improve their people skills.

It seems like a good idea to have stations on each corridor with biscuits and milk but in reality people are greedy and take more than they need, hence there’s nothing left for others and they obviously aren’t replenished very often.

Enjoyed our stay

We had an enjoyable stay at Halifax Hall. Although it's on the grounds of Sheffield University students accommodation, the surrounding area is lovely and very quiet. Our room is quite sizable. The bed is comfy and the shower is good. Staff are super friendly. We stayed for one night. But definitely would stay again if we have the same room.

The room and facilities are relatively basic, there are shared tea and coffee supply and facilities as well as endless supply of biscuits in the hallways, we didn't find them to be inconvenient. There is no lift, but for us, not an issue.

Quaint botique hotel in the beautiful Endcliffe Park area

Best porridge I’ve ever had! The breakfast was excellent and included in the rate. The staff was friendly and attentive. The little self-service stations on each floor were a nice surprise. Biscuits and chocolates were a nice touch. The towels were absorbent and soft. The shampoo/ Conditioner and body was all smelled lovely. The location was in walking distance to the lovely historical park.

The hallways smelled like smoking used to be allowed. No elevators. There is no drop off location next to the entrance of the hotel. You have to go up some stairs and then a few feet to the entrance. That is fine if it’s not pouring rain. You have to go up a few stairs and a few feet to the door. I don’t think I ever got my heat to work. My room did not smell fresh. I can’t describe it but even after using a fabric spray and perfume in the room it would not go away. No wash cloths in the bathroom
