This is one of my favorite hostels/hotels in the world. I love the interior design and architecture (as a designer myself). The staff is amazingly friendly. The coffee, bar, breakfast are all top notch - very intentional and served with care. The location is nicely away from the most touristy parts of Kyoto, but a quick walk. The social aspect of the cafe and bar really make traveling alone less lonely. I love this place! I stayed in a private room and the architectural details are excellent, the room is spacious, and the bathrooms/showers are clean and convenient.

One of my favorite hostels I’ve stayed in. Great to have the bar / cafe / restaurant downstairs, being so close to the beautiful river was a highlight for me. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Social opportunities but doesn’t feel required, very chill and warm environment

Good location, close to shops & bus stops to get around the area Nice common room & downstairs cafe / bar (though drinks are quite expensive)

Not very clean, a strong musty smell in the bedroom that made my stay unpleasant & gave me a cough. Also heavy mould in the bathroom - although the bathrooms on 3rd floor were cleaner (I stayed on 2nd floor)
