    The homestay just 400m away from the train station and easy access to Nara Park and shop lots (walkable). The staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

    I had a really memorable stay at Yuzan —it’s a beautiful traditional Japanese house over 100 years old, and the experience feels about as close as you can get to authentic Japanese living. The atmosphere is calm and full of character, with wooden interiors and a layout that reflects how homes were designed in the past. I booked the superior room, which was very well-equipped—it came with its own water closet. Kitchen, toilet, and shower, common areas are shared, which adds to the homely, communal feel. One of the highlights was sleeping on tatami flooring with futon bedding. It was surprisingly comfortable and gave a truly local experience that you wouldn’t get in a typical hotel. What really made the stay stand out was the owner—super caring, attentive, and able to communicate very well in English. It made everything feel welcoming and easy, especially if you’re not familiar with traditional accommodations. Overall, this is a fantastic choice if you want a unique, cultural stay that reflects real Japanese living, rather than just a standard hotel experience.
