Would pay more to avoid

It’s a bed in a good location in centre

Front door had a keypad however was always left open, our dorm room on the ground floor not only didn’t have a lock but the door was opened through a piece of string. Dorm toilets wouldn’t flush so on multiple occasions there were turds that just stayed there. Beds are dirty and a random assortment of single beds, double and triple bunks. Amongst travellers, it has become a running joke how bad this hostel was

The price, the location, the people I met

Got my food stolen twice, not very comfy, the kitchen closes at 10pm (i was forced to cook my dinner very fast because it was 10:02 whereas i had to wait to use the kitchen before), no drinkable water after 10pm, WiFi doesn’t work well

Great location but the private room was gross.

Great location, very close to the historic district, beside a grocery store and a quick walk to the bus station.

Our private room was absolutely disgusting. There was a constant smell of sewerage, the room had cigarette buds and trash left in it, the window couldn’t be locked and the sheets and towels smelt dirty.

the staff is so friendly that’s first. the kitchen is big and has a big a variety. the rooms are very big and very spacious.

there I one aircon for each room and the room is very big. the person that sleeps under the aircon is comfortable but the rest of the room is very hot. other than that perfect!

dreaming about coming back

one of the best places that I ever stayed ,with the most friendly team and nice people that were willing to help with all issues .everything super clean and cosy .I was in love the my window view to mountain and cute balcony . kitchen is fully equipment and the location is super close to everything .all around there are a lots of supermarkets and shops.magical vibes in vibe hostal ! and as a guest I had discount to boat tour with free caipirinhas.you cannot miss it.

I liked the location and the Receptionst was friendly.

However I was immediately put off when I was checking out. One of the staff members came in and put new pillow/bed sheets on the beds (previous room mates checked out before us) and I witnessed the staff just fold the used blanket and put it back on the bed for the next guest, so this place clearly doesn’t clean the blankets they give guests (they don’t give top sheets so this is your only form of warmth at night) after every use, enough for me to not recommend the place.

The location was great and the housekeerer was a very nice person.

The room has not no windows or air condicionar, so the room was extremely hot and it was not confortable to stay in. The bathroom were always busy because there were two bathrooms for 18 roomates.

Disappointing

The manager was nice and spoke english. They also provided information on what to do and see.

Toilet was clogged on numerous occasions doing our stay. In addition they didn’t clean the toilet everyday. The windows in the room didn’t close so we got ate up by mosquitoes. The kitchen was not that nice either.

Pleasant

I stayed in a room of 8 which is big and spacious. It's close to the center and bus station, coffee shops, etc. There is AC and fan :)

The staff was nice but they didn't know any info about Paraty, how to reach places, or what to do. They only "suggested" about the boat tour. The bathroom was super dirty (there is not even a mirror, or soap), I didn't see any cleaning in three days , the bin was full of paper and smelly (as in Brazil you can't throw paper in the toilet itself). I asked to the receptionist the second day to send someone to clean and she answered she can't check if the bathroom is dirty and she will talk to the manager(?). When I check out the bathroom was still dirty. The kitchen was a mess and it would be nice if they provide water. The hostel is nice , but they need to improve a lot! They were more worried if the dog is going out than something else.

Disappointing

Location was good, friendly staff, cool balcony with hammocks, good internet connectivity, beds were comfortable and clean sheets.

Room for 10 people was easily accessible from street over windows (quite big security risk). Also the noise from street was really big!!! Bathrooms were not very clean when we arrived in the night, neither kitchen or shared relax room - there were very old spider webs everywhere. I saw cleaning the floors and bathrooms in the morning, but not properly. And unfortunately my girlfriend found cockroach on the wall next to her bed.
