A cozy little gem of the city, ideally situated.

After flying over from the UK for our 24th wedding anniversary we spent 4 days staying in the local area, 2 days in a modern boutique hotel, 1 night in a chateau and the final night prior to leaving in a retro chic city hotel or so I thought! There isnt much to like about the Old Hotel Ravel but lots to not like. Unfortunately it looks like I will have to suck up the money for not staying here but in honesty I just couldnt stay. I have travelled and stayed in some dumps over the years especially when I was younger but this place was right up there as places to avoid.
This so-called “hotel” is nothing but a doss house dressed up with misleading photos. The reality is disgraceful. Stained, filthy carpets, dingy cupboard-sized rooms, mould-infested bathrooms — it’s a health hazard, not accommodation.
The reception area is chaos: pounding bar music, drunk patrons staggering about, filthy tables with torn paper cloths. Step outside and you’re surrounded by heavy-smoking drinkers bellowing on a grimy street. The whole place feels unsafe and sleazy.
Our “room” on the second floor was a joke. Opening the window unleashed a stench of cigarettes and the racket from the pub below. You couldn’t even hear the receptionist at check-in because of the blasting music.
We took one look, lasted 60 seconds, and walked out. For £30 more we booked into a hotel near the airport — spotless, comfortable, professional, with a gym and jacuzzi. Night and day difference. Granted not retro!

Beautiful and quirky hotel, with a vintage style, very pleasant and well located. Staff very friendly. Great location. Jaccuzzi is a huge bonus in the summer!
Few options for breakfast, especially fir vegetarian and vegans.

Full of character, friendly staff, hot tub, connecting rooms for families. Rooms need a revamp, especially bathrooms.

The spa facilities were the perfect relaxation after a long trip. The water was perfect from temperature. Our room was what we expected and dark which is good to sleep.
The room was very hot. There was no airco so no possibility to cool off. There was a fan that we used but it is not the same as airco. We also found the neighborhood not ideal. I didn't feel comfortable walking down the street.

Check-in is possible only after 16h, because the hotel didn't have a receptionist 24h. But the girl is attentive

The Hotel is very near the city center and the station, and there are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby.
It has a very quaint and retro atmosphere which is very nice.
The reception is courteous and clear
Breakfast was ok, quite a variety of food to chose from.
The rooms are old, not very clean (dirt under the beds...) and need maintenance.

Breakfast was extra, very good and good value or money. Late check in was easy using the supplied entry code. I loved the original French ambience of the hotel and the modern Jacuzzi and Sauna were a pleasant surprise! I very much enjoyed my stay and would stay again without hesitation.

It's perfectly located half way walking distance from the city center and the train station. Not first class but great value for money. Nice staff.

Loud noises seemed to be coming from pipes or equipment near my room prevented me from sleeping.

Great location, mid way between the station and the centre of town. Definitely an old building, but cheerful enough. Rooms a good size, beds were incredibly comfortable. A little over warm at night, but fans were provided or you can open a window. We had a late check in but instructions provided were very thorough.
The plus breakfast option is not worth it. Extremely limited selection for far too much. You're better off going to a nearby cafe etc.

RAVEL is a very cozy oldfashioned little Hotel in the Center. Very friendly owner, great interior! The lobby gives you the feeling of the 30s and 50s. If you like that, Ravel is your hotel! There is also free parking on the street in the nights and sundays.
All perfect!

Near the city centre, 10min walking to the cathedral square. Parking in front of the hotel (free from 19h to 9h). Jacuzzi and sauna included!
Small and simple breakfast buffet. You can find muesli, juice, coffee, some small pastries, bread and jam, butter and cream cheese.

Location as described, fairly central but outside the old city centre. The exterior photo of the hotel must have been taken at least 40 years ago as the exterior was nothing like the reality! On entry the surrounding and aromas took me back 50 years to family holidays as a child. Peeling paint on various parts of the reception seating area. It had what might at best be described as 'French Charm'. Sadly the reality of 'French Charm' from the 1960's with facilities, cleanliness and service to match. Booking.com have this down as one night although my stay was actually for 4 nights. It's location was very convenient for the excellent food market about 75 metres away.
On arrival no help with carrying bags to the room. Room small and cramped. The ensuite was extremely compact, with half width vertical doors which wouldn't fully open necessitating a dance style move to get by the bottom of the bed to get into and out of the en suite. Bathroom entrance / floor was dirty. Room was not serviced during my stay. No coffee/tea tray, no 'in room Welcome Pack' room information or instructions. No Fire Plan on the door. Stair flooring was dangerous with individual step coverings, I tripped twice on loose riser carpet not affixed / glued to the riser. Broken lamp shade on aone of the two wall mounted lights had fallen onto the light bulb and evidence of scorching. I removed it from the fitting before using the light. I gave it to reception expressing my concern about the possibility of it being a fire hazard the following morning. This was not rectified during my stay. With effort the hotel could be so much better and promote itself as a venue for special vintage / nostalgia events

The Jacuzzi was great, the staff was amazing very helpful and nice 👍
Very close to the city center just 25 minutes walk.
Rooms look a bit tired, doesn't seem to be very clean. Location is not super safe next to the train station and market
