Close to the centre, quiet, decent breakfast though not much for vegans. The heating in our room wasn't working though there was another heater in there which worked well enough though the floors still felt cold. Beds were comfortable though and duvets very warm. Not much decoration in the room, would have benifitted from a rug, the bathroom had been recently redone which was nice

Our overnight stay was to see relatives and friends in Brecon. This B&B fitted our needs perfectly.

The breakfast room is very welcoming and tastefully decorated. We had an excellent choice of cooked breakfast & continental options and particularly liked the overnight oats. The B&B has a large private car park at the back and is Just a 5 minute walk into Brecon Town. Excellent location.

Wouldn’t recommend or go again

Good location. Private parking and appreciated being able to check in early

Couldn’t get in to property on arrival. Stood in rain for some time ringing bell. Other guest heard bell ringing repeatedly and came to let us in. Loo unclean and not flushed. Bed collapsed on one side after sitting on it. Found it was held up by piece of wood. Reported to staff but nothing done about it. Coffee and tea from machine was undrinkable, strong unpleasant taste, perhaps machine needed cleaning.

Little gem of a place

Received such a lovely warm welcome, location was great plus the free parking, room was clean and comfy, breakfast was excellent and plenty of choices, invited to a party at the barn which was very kind of the owner , Neil and thanks for the free drinks very kind off you , sure we will be returning

Perfect location, lovely staff and cosy room.

The location was perfect for exploring Brecon and we enjoyed a walk along the canal. Breakfast was lovely and the room was cosy.

Only thing that we realised was that my friend ordered the avocado and poached egg on toast with a side of a sausage, but when it came out it had a fried egg instead. Wasn’t quite the same as having a poached egg.

Great place to access the southern Welsh hills

Great location and large car park. Just a few mins walk to town and easy reach to the hills. Breakfast was excellent and so was the room. Very clean and a decent shower.

Access areas, stairways and corridors are a bit tired and in need of modernisation as is the breakfast room.

The location was excellent, it was very clean, the breakfast was amazing, Sophie the manager was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Could not do enough got us. The owner kindly gave us a lift to pick our car up. Such lovely people.

Staff brilliant, room exactly what we needed, breakfast awesome. One thing it could do with is a designated shower in the room rather than a tap mixer in the bath. Great people, eclectic venue but full of Character and characters.

Excellent once I'd moved rooms.

My room (11) once the owners moved me from Room 1. They did this after hatting to me when I was working in the dining room as room 1 didnt have any desk/room to work. The owner was excellent

Room 1. Despite me travelling on my own, Room1 was too small with no wardrobe and no desk or working space. Please note I didnt ask to move but was upgraded by the owner once he saw me working in the dining room

A well-kept hotel in very good location with friendly staff and comfortable rooms.

Comfortable room with en suite bathroom. The hotel is very clean and tastefully decorated. Plenty of parking out back. Staff are friendly and there was a nice breakfast (included in room price). Easy walk into centre of town from hotel across the bridge.

The pastries seemed to run out very early at breakfast. Would be nice to have some smaller options for cooked breakfast (e.g. just egg on toast). A bit pricey but that seems to be the way for hotels everywhere these days.

Super friendly staff, some improvements needed with breakfast service

Such lovely staff, warm and welcoming on arrival and during the 'pop-up' steak night on night one which we were invited to. They kindly catered to my request for a fillet steak, whilst not a great cut it was cooked well and the rest of meal delicious. Room was clean, bathroom sparkling! There are some decor issues (wallpaper peeling badly from the bedroom hall ceiling etc) but I understand from other reviews that the hotel is going through a refurb. Love the addition of the welsh cakes in the room! These were topped up on the second day too so was a tasty delight for driving home (though only for my room, not my friend's room). Parking! I have been to Brecon before and struggled to park so having a guest car park is what sealed the deal for the stay.

Breakfast selection is only laid out once. With the number of guests staying on the Sunday, the croissants were eaten by one table (only about 10 small croissants/pain au chocolat in total). When asked, we were informed they would not be topped up. We waited 27 mins for our breakfast order to be taken too. Small details like no salt on tables, no teaspoons for hot drinks, no water in coffee machine etc made it less than great experience. Given the cost of the stay, it wasn't value for money to have limited continental breakfast alongside the cooked. The cooked breakfast though, once it arrived, was delicious. I had smashed avocado with smoked salmon and poached eggs on sourdough, whilst the poached eggs were hard/jammy rather than runny it was overall very tasty! No hairdryer to be found in room 3, thankfully my friend had one in another room so could use that. Only two pillows on the bed too, which considering they thought I had booked the room for two people this would not have been enough as they were quite thin. Thankfully as only me in the room I could hog the lot.

Great and friendly base for hiking

Lovely and friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms and tasty breakfasts. They were kindly very accommodating of my dietary needs, too.

There were little things that could have levelled up our experience - the cooked breakfast took AGES for understandable reasons, but if we were in a rush it would’ve been a challenge. There was no salt on the table so we had to go hunting for it (then ask), and the breakfast room ran out of things very quickly and took a while to replenish (or things had to be requested). It also took us a while to find someone to check in, and the process to check out wasn’t clear. Having said this, these are small things that absolutely didn’t take away from the lovely stay we had - more ‘even better ifs’.

Stayed for one night. Excellent location, easy to find, near to shops and lovely tandoori restaurant just down the road. Car parking at back with plenty of spaces. Fairly quick check in despite us arriving earlier than planned + responsive host. Room was a good size for family of 4 in annexe. Bathroom was large. Minor issues at start dealt with quickly. Breakfast is outstanding and the service was excellent. WiFi was good. We had a good night's sleep. It was quiet.

Needs more hangers/ hooks for clothes - but I could say this for every single hotel/ guest house that I have stayed in.

Happy and Good.

The Beacons Guest House is located very close to the town centre, there is good on site parking to the rear, which is easy to find. The Guest House is also very comfortable and clean. They offer a nice cooked breakfast and other choices. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful.

I can't make any negative comments, it was a good stay. I would recommend the Beacons Guest House and we would stay there again.

Brecon Gem

Hotel was easy to find, with private parking and within 3/4 minutes walk of Brecon town centre. Sophie and staff were very friendly and efficient. The breakfast menu had an excellent choice of food (I especially liked their Welsh Breakfast) from cereals/yogurts/rolls etc to a number of cooked breakfast combinations. All cooked breakfasts were cooked beautifully to order by the kitchen team. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and clean. (I especially liked being able to open the window for ventilation rather than air conditioning.)
