Quiet, comfy and calm

Most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in!

Beautiful property, lovely rooms, welcoming and attentive staff. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms had everything we needed. Great value for money.

My only issue was the continental breakfast, it was a little disappointing for the money. My husband had the cooked breakfast which was delicious but I don’t like a heavy meal to start the day. A few more pastries or breads would have improved it.

Just lovely- thankyou!

This was our third stay at The Barn Owl. Whenever we visit family/friends in this area, The Barn Owl is always our first choice. Karen and Gerald, along with the rest of the team, are so kind, welcoming and friendly. The rooms are just lovely. Beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and always so peaceful at night. The en-suite bathrooms are equally lovely, again spotlessly clean, with complimentary shower gel and shampoo if needed. We had dinner and breakfast as well at The Barn Owl and both equally delicious. Lovely food, beautifully presented and always piping hot. You are always made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Thankyou so much.

Fantastic Value and Exceptional Service

I had a lovely one-night stay here. The hotel is fantastic value for money, with gorgeous, spacious country-style rooms and brilliant service from start to finish. Dinner and breakfast were well priced and served promptly. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. The staff were so kind and even posted an item back to me that I had accidentally left in my room. I really could not recommend the hotel and the team enough.

Very convenient for the evening wedding event that we were attending. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast with options. Clean rooms & a good size. Coffee & tea making facilities in room, together with a bottle of water. Carparking. Definitely recommend.

For me personally I found the bed a little hard but wouldn't put me off staying again.

I like staying here but upset I couldn't bring my 2 tiny dogs as they only allow one per room. Apart from one waitress who was very abrupt at dinner last night. Rooms are great and bed comfortable. Pillow hard and too high, like boulders

Charming Inn with excellent food and comfortable room

It was easy to find and on our route home after a stay in Devon. The Inn itself was really charming and comfortable. All of the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Our room was really lovely, very clean and comfortable. It was also very quiet despite being very busy, which made for an excellent night's sleep. We had dinner in the restaurant in the evening and had the best meal of our whole trip. It was reasonably priced and best of all was real, fresh, good, wholesome food. Absolutely excellent. Checkout was easy with no fuss. A truly great find, tucked away but definitely worth a stay.

The room was very adequate and very comfortable and spacious.Fully equipped

The restaurant was very over priced and the portion sizes did not justify the price.The quality of food was below average and definitely not worth the money.lasagne was £17.95 which tasted no different to the typical ping meals.The steak cost £24.50 on its own.Pepper corn sauce was an additional £3.50 extra and so was the coleslaw.should of been 10oz steak but more like 5oz..In total for these meals and 1 glass of coke and 1 pint it came to £72..

Stayed here for five nights from San Francisco to visit family in Newton Abbot. Great location for what we needed. Great service in the pub, the restaurant, and housekeeping. Loved the historic nature of the building and how they’ve updated it but kept so much of the character.

Excellent facilities. Very well appointed rooms with modern, quality fittings. Everything thought of including tea/coffee making facilities and bottles of water. The bar and restaurant have a balance of history, quality and modern. Beautiful, with lovely staff and a warm atmosphere...oh, and excellent food!

Beautiful b&b sadly ruined by rude staff and bad service.

Staff were rude. We arrived an hour early to be told we couldn’t check in til 3, no offer to check if our room was free, no offer to sit and have a drink whilst we waited, and just barked at despite already having a booking! Very shocked, we timidly left and came back an hour later to be told our room still wasn’t ready- again no offer to sit and wait! Luckily our room was ready a very awkward 10 minutes later, and we then avoided speaking to the staff again in fear of being barked at!! Would understand if it was busy, but there were maybe 2 tables, and the manager was just stood on her phone. It really ruined the experience of a lovely b&b.

Great short stay stopover

Fantastic staff team. The owner/ manager requires particular mention.... could not do enough both at arrival and whenever necessary. Food menu was exactly what was necessary with vegan options, rooms spotlessly clean and with an excellent modernised feel ( exposed beams but suitably modernised). We were attending a wedding and the hotel provided exactly what we needed. Sid our Labrador was very welcome with necessary walks from the door and a garden and seating area. Nice bar with outdoor seating

Not a lot....the hotel is in a housing area so be aware of that. it's also a practical stop over and overnight stay. Great for our needs but maybe not a place to stay for a week. But I'm quibbling here.... it's an excellent hotel and does what it sets out to do just about as well as it can be done!👍😁

Nice building, pleasant rooms, friendly meet and greet staff,. Nice menu with lots of GF potions. Nice waitresses.

The shower was minuscule. There was no where in the room to open a case and leave it open and no draws to unpack. The water was refreshed in the room every day but the bin wasn’t emptied at all over our 3 night stay. The manager walked past twice at breakfast, we were the only people having breakfast, he totally ignored us even though we said good morning. The previous night my husband and I had gone down to have a drink before the other 4 people joined us for a meal. We asked the manager if there was somewhere we could sit to have a drink and he said no, only our table…this was nonsense as there were two settees up by the toilets and a few other leisure tables…the staff were all really lovely. It was a pity the manager was so arrogant. It’s probably put us off using this hotel again. We also found it ridiculous that they don’t serve residents breakfast on a Monday. Whilst we accept they are closed on a Monday one would have thought they would have catered for breakfasts for residents…we did know this in advance.
