The Stags Lodge

It is a clean, comfortable lodge in a good area for exploring the North East. It has a decent dog walk and exercise field on site. Communications with the lodge owner were timely and friendly.

Very clean. Comfy bed had great nights sleep. Situated on a large caravan/lodge site but it was so so quiet you wouldn’t have known. The grounds immaculate. The property as described. Great base to explore the area.

One minor niggle. We were told help ourselves to any thing in the fridge so we presumed that there would be milk. There wasn’t and the nearest shop was about 11miles away, so had to go out again after along journey.

It was a quiet location

The lodge is very dark and in need of updating the decor is dated and worn towels with bleach stains and bedding have seen better days! The second bedroom is not suitable for adults it’s very cramped would be ok for small children. Both showers were hand held and poor. We had to wash all the dishes before using them as they were very dusty and had obviously not been used for some time. The internet was not working the owner tried to get it working but was unsuccessful for our stay. Apparently the information book had been taken home by a previous guest and not yet replaced which was inconvenient and needs addressing 🤷‍♀️ The offer of helping ourselves to a drink on arrival should be removed as there was just a nearly empty bottle of vodka left in the cupboard no mixers not even enough for a small drink each 🤣 The pub that is advertised as if it is on site is actually a 25 minute walk away. The age of the property is reflected in the price charged it is cheaper than others I suggest paying more we wish we had.
