The Tannery - 2 bed 2 bath apartment with parking

Prime Location: The location is unbeatable. It is a very easy 10 to 15-minute stroll with a toddler into the city center, making it a fantastic base for all of York's attractions. Atmospheric Character: The flat has a lot of charm with its original wooden beams. Responsive Host/Service: When we reported initial cleanliness issues upon arrival via email, the management sent someone to rectify it that same afternoon. Comfortable Bedding & Towels: All beds were made with fresh, clean linen, and each bed had a fresh bath and hand towel set. The towels were spotlessly clean and properly dried. Kitchen Equipment: Although we didn't cook full meals, the kitchen appeared very well-equipped. Thoughtful Extras: We happened to visit during a heatwave, and the two electric fans provided in the flat were absolute lifesavers Great Nearby Food: There is a brilliant pizzeria just steps away from the flat that serves delicious pizza 24/7—a major bonus for late-night cravings or quick family meals!

Initial Cleanliness Issues: The flat was not cleaned to a proper standard prior to our check-in. However, credit where it's due: we reported this via email immediately, and the host sent a cleaner to fix everything that same afternoon. ​Defective Bathroom Tap: The main issue during our stay was a faulty cold water tap in the master ensuite. It kept getting air-locked, triggering a loud, high-pitched screeching sound in the pipes. We had to get up multiple times at night just to adjust it, which was quite frustrating. By the end of the week, even weighing it down with a toothpaste tube stopped working, and we had to ban everyone from touching it 🤣 Worth Keeping in Mind: The flat involves multiple entry codes, gates, and very steep stairs with no safety gates. During the heatwave, we also had to keep windows wide open, but they lacked child safety restrictors. It’s certainly manageable and not the end of the world, but if you're traveling with small children, be prepared for a bit of extra stress and a workout when carrying toddlers and bags up after a long day!

Spacious and very comfortable duplex flat, felt like a house. Excellent location, peaceful, well equipped kitchen, felt like a nice home from home. Was able to do some computer work using the table and chairs in the main bedroom. Location was excellent about 15 minute walk to center of town. Having parking space was great.

Place would benefit from a deep clean (windows and doors need cleaning). Small glitch with code for the elevator block (was different from what was on the check in instructions.) Better enforcement on parking space would be good (twice it was occupied by someone else).
