Fantastic stay in a beautiful setting

One of the best stays in Stellenbosch by far.

Zebra Cottage was a truly unforgettable stay. Waking up to zebras, wildebeests, and springbok just outside the window was absolutely magical. The cottage is peaceful, private, and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. It offers exceptional value for money — in fact, I honestly can’t think of a better place to stay anywhere in the world at this price point. If you’re reading this review to decide whether to book — stop now and just book it. You won’t regret it.

A magical vineyard stay with wildlife on your doorstep and easy access to Stellenbosch—peaceful, scenic, and truly memor

I absolutely loved this stay. Waking up to see zebras, wildebeest, and other animals right outside the veranda was such a unique and unforgettable experience. The setting was spectacular—right in the heart of a vineyard, offering both tranquillity and beautiful views. The cottage itself was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything you’d need for a relaxing stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect for exploring Stellenbosch and the surrounding wine farms. It’s a peaceful escape that still keeps you close to everything.

The gas heater ran out and was replaced with another nearly empty cylinder, which unfortunately also ran out the next day. So we didn’t have heating for the last day or two, which was disappointing as it did get quite cold.

A relaxing stay in a beautiful setting.

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful Winelands oasis. It was an amazing experience from when I booked until we checked out. The cottage was neat with luxurious bedding and finishes yet it was warm and welcoming with little thoughtful touches. The springboks and zebras in such close proximity was the highlight of our weekend. The friendliness of the staff and owners are the cherry on top!

Slice of nature near town

It is so well positioned, close to town, but also feels like you're surrounded only by nature. Getting to watch the animals graze was my fav. We celebrated a birthday at Vuur, and it was perfect walking distance away.

Peaceful Calmness

Very secure and safe location. Close proximity to other wine farms in the area makes it a good base to explore from. Extremely spacious and comfortable unit. Very comfortable beds with good linen. Clean and good layout. Genuine "farmhouse" feel yet warm and comfortable. The views of neighboring farm were spectacular. Didn't even bother to switch on the TV....and I had a 9-year-old with me (so that says alot). This farm produces some good wines too. Their wine tastings should not be missed. There is a certain stillness and calmness of the lodge. We felt refreshed and revitalized after our 2 nights here.

Paradise near Stellenbosch

The Zebra Lodge is very spacious, comfortable and has a superb view on the mountains around Stellenbosch. From the terrace you see the zebra's, springboks and the Kuifkoptarentale, which really is a very nice bird to look at! You see the sunrise and sundown from this lodge and the view is absolutely stunning. A nice lady came every morning and asked if she could bring us clean towels, make the beds or even do the dishes. Very good service indeed! The lodge itself is very comfortable and nicely decorated. This was our last stay in South Africa before going back home and we would have loved staying a litlle bit longer. During the loadshedding we had some some lights, the tv and fridge functioning and there was a big battery for loading telephones etc, which was very comfortable. Highly recommended! Would love to come back!

This is one of the best places we have visited ok

Kris and Elabet: Thank you very much for your great attention. We had a spectacular day of arrival that amazed us see everything that the place offers the farm has animals just as it offers that graze next to the house and are nearby all day One kilometer away there is a very large supermarket where you can stock up on everything you need, it is practically a small shopping center in which there is a pharmacy and medical attention. In addition, and most importantly, the owner of the place is very attentive and did the impossible to give us the best feeling. The house offers sale of its excellent wines, without realizing it, our wine had run out, we contacted Kris, who came especially at 9 :00 at night to help us, we advise you to take this detail into account since their wine is truly exceptional. This is a family farm and the place is beautiful, for those who do not want to walk this place offers everything you need and much more At the reception was Elabet and she has done everything possible to please us with her beautiful smile and her great attention. It is 40 minutes from the airport, we rented the car from the woodford company, we received a new car that we made a great visit in the area South Africa has a lot to offer and at a very low price so you just have to arrive with a good sling and enjoy this great country. Two great phrases I have taken from this country First: Your Respect is my Strength, (so take it into account) Second: Women hold up the sky, Strong Women Shelter the Earth. Peace and tranquillity amongst the vineyards

Beautiful location, peaceful, tranquil. The lodge had all the comforts we needed. Beds were very comfortable. Nice big rooms. Lovely staff at the taste room. Tasty flat bread pizzas and the wine- cab sav- was not to shabby either

Water leaked from the en suite door despite it looking like the seal were adequate which meant the bath mat got saturated. Towels were only changed the day before we left. Couches need upgrading. This definitely is not a deal breaker. I would happily book another stay here.

A hidden gem

We absolutely loved our stay in Zebra Cottage. the location is excellent - a short drive to some beautiful winery’s around. The lodge is much bigger than it looks in the photos. It could easily sleep 6 people. We travelled with our 18 month old toddler, and it was perfect. It is very well kitted out for self catering needs. There is no dishwasher or washing machine, but they do offer a daily service which is a lovely touch. Staff were all so helpful and friendly, and Jodie was so quick to help us out with what we needed. We can’t wait to come back again!

Break away from city life... Peace and tranquility!

A hidden gem! These cottages are not only comfortable but they are fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering stay. Located in Stellenbosch... But 'far' enough to be away from the everyday busy city life. There was a TV, however there was no need to use it. We woke up to animals grazing a throw distance away.... Had breakfast on the outside patio... Lunch and supper out there as well! The staff.. Absolutely amazing! Friendly and accommodating. Jo was always open to me checking in and putting in a request here and there. This family owned and run farm.... Makes you feel welcome and at home. Looking forward to our next visit!
