The view and location really amazig and the host very friendly

There is a sewage pipe running throught the room, the room and the room smells wet and moldy, not enough ventilation.

Out of all the places we have travelled, this was by far the worst

The location was close to Simonstown. Sea view was worth it

No TV in the room. No place to clean dishes. Room service was done however no spoons returned for coffee.

Our stay was super comfortable and loved that the room overlooked the sea. Spectacular views.

We loved the beautiful view of the oceans and mountains, the sound of the sea, and the comfortable big King size bed and comfy chairs. Plenty of space to relax and lounge about in and read our books. I loved the touches of antique furniture and the carpeted floors in the bedroom.

Okay for a shoert stay

On the positive side, the bed was very fresh and extremely comfortable, and the sea view was nice. However, compared to another stay we had for the same price (where breakfast, welcome chocolate, and a much warmer atmosphere were included), Olava Guesthouse felt overpriced and underwhelming. If you just need a place to sleep for one night, it might be fine. But for anything longer, I would not recommend it.

Overall, it was okay for one night, but I would not rate it higher than 7. The price of €50 per night felt steep considering that nothing was included — no breakfast, no welcome touch, and not even basic soap in the bathroom. For a guesthouse, it came across more as a place to take advantage of tourists than a warm, welcoming stay. The room had many small shortcomings: cupboards were not properly cleaned, and the shared kitchenette felt rather questionable. There were also a lot of rules to sign off on at check-in, which didn’t exactly set a smooth or friendly tone.

Host asked for photo ID before arrival which was unusual - surely having the booking details on hand should suffice? Also I left a jacket behind and have reached out to the host to return it (specifically I have requested to send the amount required for her to send it by courier - but she has not responded to this request to date.)

Didn't like the fact that there was no bar fridge in the room for personal milk etc. Not a deal breaker but would have been easier.

Great view but on busy road

Retha is a friendly host who communicates well. The room was clean and had an amazing view.

The gueathouse is on the busy coastal.road - light sleepers should bring earplugs. The matrass is likely quite old and was rather uncomfortable. Given the price per night, I would have expected a higher quality matrass. A small matter, but we couldn't find a 2-point plug to charge our cell phones.

Easy, pleasant, friendly, clean.

Very easy communication, great host, even accommodated our late check-in. Easy parking right in front of the property. Spacious bathroom, comfortable bed, very useful folder with all sorts of information for the area -even menus for the nearby restaurants! Very thoughtful.

The road in front of the house is fairly noisy -for light sleepers like us it was a little challenging to sleep. Nothing the owner can do - just mentioning in case someone needs a quiet night.

It was convenient for the purposes of my stay.

The Room was freezing and the wet, damp and cold weather of the time exacerbated the coldness of the room. I came away sick with a severe sore throat. I appreciated the hot shower to heat up.

There was no breakfast but the location is a good location

Maybe fix the leaking shower head, 'it sprays onto the ceiling and drips down cold droplets from the ceiling whilst showering'! Loose water mixer on the wash basin. Improved ventilation without having to open a big window...

Nice location with an ocean view. Sunrise from the bed. The place was very clean and comfortable. Big balcony. Privacy - no neighbors around us.

The road in front of the windows is quite noisy. It's about 40 mins walk to Simon's town.
