The Bartizan Galle Fort

The history, the magnificent location, the staff and the restoration of the property.

We stayed in the north tower room with terrace and Seaview. It is a small studio room so we didn’t have any place for our bags. A weather system came through on the second night. It was raining and windy. It was like we were on a boat with the windows and door rattling. The rain came though the windows onto my face and no weather strip on the door had rain coming down the stairs from the external terrace so my bag got wet.

The staff were the standout of the experience - they were incredibly helpful and considerate. The breakfast was also very good. And the location in the fort is perfect.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We loved the location of this hotel, really close to the fort. We woke up early and did a walk around the fort before breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel. Such attention to detail with absolutely everything, really clean and staff were super friendly and helpful.

The location was great and the staff were nice.

It looked completely different from the pictures, the room was tiny with a short bed, the curtains didn’t cover the windows properly, the bathroom had a glass door which meant turning on the light lid up the whole bedroom, it was super loud in the morning, the safe was not mounted onto the wall so one could just pick it up in theory. Last but not least, they charged us a hefty 30 gbp tax which I we didn’t experience elsewhere in Sri Lanka at least at this high amount.
