Hout Bay Hilltop by Mike and Kathleen

The location of the house is lovely not too far out of Hout Bay, the facilities in the house all work ie Internet, tv , showers, hot water all the kitchen equipment no problems what so ever. We also felt very safe in the house. The swimming pool although not massive is a real bonus even when the wind was blowing it was nice just to put our feet in the very clean water to cool down. Marc was an excellent host, very informative and helpful although he lives on site he is very unobtrusive and his house keeper Sandra was very very thorough as the whole house was spotlessly clean, it was a real shame that we had to leave the Hilltop at the end of our holiday hopefully we will be back to visit one day soon.

Great house with wonderful views and lots of comfort

A spacious house very nicely decorated with all the comfort one could think of. Marc is very welcoming and helps whenever needed. We felt very safe. A well equipped super market is close by, we had lunch at the beach and Chapman‘s Peak is right in front of your door. We had some bad luck with the weather. So we will come back when it is warmer to enjoy the pool and the terraces with the views!

Hout Bay Hill Top House is a beautiful property offering privacy and wonderful views.

A very comfortable and spacious house, extremely well equipped. The lovely garden areas offer privacy and some gorgeous views. Only a 10 minute walk to a large Spa supermarket and pharmacy. 1km to the beach. The owner Marc lives close by and is easily contactable with any queries. Marc valiantly tried to fix a problem with our hire car on the day of departure. Europcar emergency number was not answered. So Marc drove his car to his local garage and brought back a technician to solve the problem. A wonderful gesture of kindness which will be remembered along side a holiday of complete relaxation in beautiful surroundings.

Loved our stay in Hour Bay!

Marc the host was very accommodating. We arrived very early in the morning after an overnight flight. He allowed us to sleep in his flat which is adjacent to the property until the other guests left and the house cleaned. The photos do not do the property justice, there are 2 grill areas with outside tables and the house is very well maintained. We loved our stay and will stay again if we are back in Cape Town.

We had an amazing stay at Hout Bay Hilltop. The house was clean, comfortable and our host was welcoming and went out of his way to ensure we had a wonderful stay. We woke up to beautiful views of the pool and our surroundings and we had the most amazing and relaxing weekend. Thank you so much Marc, we will definitely be back for another stay.

Good self-catering spot

The kitchen and kitchen contents are far better set up than most self-catering places. There is enough crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment, plus a coffee machine and even a dishwasher. There's a double oven and all the kitchen contents are high-quality and functional. The view from the deck to the mountain is beautiful and the home has two braai (BBQ) areas - one on each side of the house - with outdoor tables and seating. Generally a very comfortable space and great for a family holiday or break with friends. The host, Marc, is very to the point and was available to help with keys, directions to shops, restaurant recommendations and even posting some items my in-laws left behind to them after we'd left. It's a 5min drive to the shops or beach, as well as numerous restaurants, and it's also near to several wineries.

There were a few small niggles, but I have flagged them with the host and he's said he'll look into them. The biggest is that the largest bedroom currently has no privacy as the door to its entry is straight down the main bedroom passageway and made of glass, so everyone can see in at any time. A simple curtain over the doorway will solve this. Fans would also be good, as the bedrooms are hot because of all the glass. Almost every door in the house is glass, and some of these should be marked so it's easier to see when they're open, especially for people staying with children (my mother-in-law walked straight into one). For very young kids, the garden is not particularly safe. The stairs from the garage to the house are quite steep, and there's no boundary around the pool or the deck (which is built over an incredibly steep drop). However, practicality issues with one bedroom aside, the house is lovely for a group of adults or a family with older kids.

Uitstekend ruim appartement. Schoon en Smaakvol ingericht met alle voorzieningen die je nodig hebt! Prachtige tuin met meerdere zitplekjes en uitzicht op de bergen. Strand van Houtbay ligt wat verder weg. Dat is jammer maar was bekend!

Wunderschöner Urlaub

Es ist eine wunderschöne und sichere Unterkunft, Mark und Sandra waren sehr bemüht uns einen schönen und erholsamen Urlaub zu ermöglichen! Beide waren immer für uns erreichbar, Sandra hat auch zwischendurch alles gereinigt und wir hatten auch immer Gas für die Heizung zur Verfügung! Der Pool ist sehr gepflegt, da das Wetter aber zu kalt war, könnten wir ihn nur einmal testen, beim nächsten Besuch werden wir das sicher in einer wärmeren Zeit nachholen! ❤️

Die Zufahrt ist sehr steil, aber auch kein Problem für uns! 😀

Fijne accomodatie voor een verblijf vlakbij Kaapstad.

Een ruim huis van alle gemakken voorzien. Mark is een attente gastheer en voorziet je (ook zonder er om te vragen) van tips. Het terras met uitzicht is een grote plus. In 20-30 min ben je in Kaapstad en Chapmans Peak is ook vlakbij. Sandra doet de schoonmaak en zorgt voor heerlijk geurend beddengoed en handdoeken.

Het was frisjes, het huis is dan kil. Maar gelukkig kon de haard aan.
