Avoid this hostel – Major security concerns and bedbugs

The staff really tried their best, and I appreciated the balcony provided for smokers.

The staff tried their best, but they spoke only Spanish, making communication very difficult without constant use of Google Translate. Unfortunately, the room did not live up to the description or photos. One room had no lockers at all, and the second room I was offered had lockers but no way to lock them. More importantly, the security was completely unsatisfactory. The front door was often left wide open, allowing anyone from the street to enter the building. Furthermore, the door to the actual room had no lock, which felt very unsafe. To make matters worse, I woke up with what appear to be bedbug bites. Although I had booked two nights, I checked out immediately the next morning as soon as the itching started.

The loudness in the night! Poor hygiene! The room was a little bit cold. The receptionist was so late to check me in and that's why I also missed a bus for that!!!!!!!!!!

Good location, curtain on the bed.

Nothing like the pictures. The beds were metal, hard and uncomfortable. There were no closets like in the photos, you had to keep stuff in a corner or under the bed. I paid for the 4-bed room, I got an 8-bed. The room was also not ventiladed so it smelled stale and musky. This might have been a good hostel 10 years ago but now everything is dirty and with a lot of wear. The bathrooms were kind of disgusting, the floors especially. And the receptionist barely spoke english.

Very good location, fairly clean, affordable (with caveats)

The room is nothing like the room in the pictures. When I checked in, I was shocked to see a totally different room. There were no lockers and no drapes. The hostel is tiny. The staff is too loud, they laugh and shout all the time outside of sleeping hours. Of course, laughter and good conversation are appreciated at hostels but it was at a startling level for the guests. AC does not work. At nights, the windows and the door are shut. 8 people sleep in this small room, which made the room a gas chamber. I woke up at least 6-7 times each night to get fresh air and went back to sleep. I'd open to windows and doors but someone would close them. Each morning, I'd wake up exponentially worse. I got sick eventually. The bathrooms do not have functional latches which made using them uncomfortable. There was a person that was drunk the whole time I was there. This person would verbally tease and talk inappropriately (especially with women). On the 4th day, he used a slur against my community, which I reported to the receptionist. He was warned but not removed from the hostel, after which I checked out. The receptionist was highly negative, disrespectful and unhelpful during check-out. Some recommendations: - The photos on booking.com must be updated immediately. - The latches on bathroom doors must be fixed. - Regulations and rules about guests' interactions and their safety must be enforced without any exception. - The AC must be fixed to allow healthy sleeping conditions. - The main receptionist must be trained with modern guest/customer communication standards which require a proactive, respectful and kind approach. - The prices can be updated with increases in order to provide a better experience if financial conditions are not allowing the basic standards to be maintained.

Cheerful & cozy stay in a good location

We booked the private double room - it was clean & cozy, perfect for what we needed. Staff was friendly and common space was welcoming.

More bathrooms or having a toilet separate from shower would be great. It wasn’t a big problem for me but I only had one night and left early in the morning. A kettle in the kitchen to make coffee & tea would be useful

Amazing Home away from home with Family

It’s 10-15 min walk to City Centre, supermarket nearby, quite Location, stuff was amazing, they solved issues very fast. Fresh Towels for 1,50€ Rent. It felt Like it’s a Family there, I loved the atmosphere and the vibe!

They didn’t have lockers, just a box to put your things in, so you can’t lock your stuff even with a lock. But I guess it will be Solved !

Location was great, central, easy to walk everywhere. Especially to the central bus station - a short walk. The place is cosy and has a nice, positive vibe. No thrills, but clean and good, friendly atmosphere. Homey feel.

The hostel was ok for the price. Friendly staff - Unfortunately she was the only staff working alone for long hours, totally overworked. in my opinion.

Ok stay, as most hostels, its the people there that can make a difference. My experience with some inconsiderate and ignorant guests was not good. A troop of German scouts I shared a dorm room did make the stay bearable as they made an effort.

Homey hostel

The location is near the bus station. It's easy to get everywhere. And, there is a market at the corner. It takes me about 15 mins walking to the old bazaar. Also, they have laundry and free coffee. The AC is pretty good. I also like the common area.

The staff were very kind and helpful. The kitchen was very well supplied for a small hostel. The shared areas had a nice chilled out vibe to them. AC worked very well. A very pleasant stay.

Nice place, could be more comfortable

The hostel’s location is great, close to the city center and the bus station. Overall, it’s a good deal for the price.

However, I found it a bit inconvenient that one of the rooms is “outside” or separated from the rest of the hostel. While the beds were comfortable, they’re made of wood, quite small, and very close to each other, so it’s hard to get a good rest because you can feel the movement of people in the neighboring beds. Also, there are too few bathrooms for the number of guests when the hostel is full.

Booked last minute to have a place to stay while I was waiting for a late night bus to Belgrade and wasn’t disappointed,

Really good place

I really liked this hostel. It was so cheap, I payed 7€ for one night so I didn’t expect something amazing but the room and bed were actually really comfy, the sheets were fresh, everything was clean and the staff was friendly and nice.

You have to cross the living room to go to the bathroom/toilets which can be kind of awkward or uncomfortable at times (after your shower for example) but other than that everything was amazing! And again, for this price, nothing to really complain about lol.

Decent enough, a friendly member of staff

There's a balcony, a decent kitchen, free fruit and a nice TV area. The beds were fine and clean. The location is walking distance from the centre and the main bus station.

The Colombian member of staff was friendly and made it welcoming. But mostly people didn't like to speak.

It's not super close to the centre and it's in a bit of a weird location, not too far to walk to the main places though. Only 2 bathrooms (which are also the showers) for the hostel which was a bit inconvenient and you often have to wait - also makes them feel not the cleanest.

Ok for the money

In general it was clean and tidy, the volunteers who work there are nice but I didn’t see the manager once. Wifi was good. Bathroom was ok clean. Location is good (10 minutes away from the center).

I mean, it’s not bad, but it lacks a good traveller vibe, maybe because there are some people who live there and are not actually traveling, so you may feel like you’re disturbing someone’s routine. Shower had no hot water one of the times.

Best hostel in Skopje

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. The atmosphere and staff were amazing. The location couldn’t be better. The rooms along with the entire hostel were clean. The kitchen is fully equipped. Everything you’d want out of a hostel and more. At the end of my stay, I dio want to leave!

Amazing place to meet new people!

The common areas were a nice place to meet new people, the staff was very kind and helpful. The bed was comfortable, the shower had hot water and it was very good!

Only two bathrooms, sometimes you need to wait a little to use it. Also you cannot seat properly on the bed, if you want to organise your bag or something it was a little hard.

The location, hot water. Ok for one night stay for transit purposes, as it is close to bus to the airport- holiday inn.

The place had a lot of people staying long term and it was run by volunteers. One of the long termers was rude and scary, I was looking at my phone and he came up and said what phone is is.. don’t take videos of me etc in a very aggressive manner. I changed my room. There is also a lot of drinking on the hotel, the kitchen always has unwashed pots and pans and trash overflowing. One omen was also threatening a girl with calling the police. Very awkward and uncomfortable. I left the place at 6:00am before these strange people work up.

I have been traveling for the last 10 years and in this hostel by far i had the best experience ever, the staff were very polite and helpful I felt like family with them, Thank you Vale, Yamur, Circus and Niko.. you guys nailed it and already feeling like I want to come back.
