Friendly hotel with amazing views, the best in South Shields!!

Lovely hotel with fabulous views over the Tyne and also a beach. Staff very welcoming and friendly especially the receptionists. Breakfast was large with plenty of choice and variety to suit everyone's palate. A big bonus was that there is plenty of free parking.

Too expensive for quality of service, room not as accessible for disabled people. Room stunk.

Mushroom and potato on the floor by table from night before and nobody cleaned the floor. Put us off our breakfast. Itwas better when you could serve yourself. Milk jugs useless.

Milk jugs that are impossible to pour from. Staff clattering around with teapots etc in the evening whilst we try to eat. Menu limited.

Amazing location and nice hotel for a family holiday by the sea side

Amazing location overseeing the sea, nice room, wide enough our family, the lady from housekeeping who dis our kid bed was so nice and helpful, the room furniture and decoration was warm and lovely, clean bed and bathroom.

The hall was stuffed and smells We requested late check out through the disk and this was quite expensive for just 2 hours extension, we should had done this through our booking account. The lady at the breakfast wasn’t friendly for us but was more friendly to other customers, she’d nearly ignored us.

Great choice for South Shields

Our superior double room (room 232) had 3 windows overlooking the river. Very good views as the sun was glorious on the morning of our departure. We attended a family gathering in a function room overlooking the river also. Staff very busy supporting multiple roles. Room had everything we needed for one night's stay. Would recommend.

Room a little dated and tired in places, eg bathroom lighting, old taps (not mixers).

The hotel met our basic needs but failed to live up to all expectations.

The location is superb. Really enjoyed being at this point on the Tyne looking out to sea. Help from some staff was excellent when asked.

Breakfast not up to what usually expected. Bar was poorly stocked. We suffered from an insominiac in the bedroom above who was stomping around and playing the TV loudly at 2.30 am in the morning. Therefore soundproofing of bedrooms not good.

The location

Rooms very dated, room was freezing, had to get reception to come help with heating. Was given a blank card which was meant to keep heating on while I was out all day at a wedding, came back and room was freezing and heating off. No information given at check in on how to control heating. Service was shocking, had a meal when I arrived after a 5.5 hour drive and the scampi was so overcooked. Breakfast was ok, however service was awful, had to clear all our plates from table before we got hot breakfast. I paid £224 for 2 nights which isn’t cheap, so so disappointed and would not go back.

Unable to get food on the Sunday evening (sandwhich). Plastic mattress protector on bed felt crunchy and caused us to overheat in bed. Couldn't turn tv off with the remote

The room smelt damp and the bed was small did not fit the surround so could not reach the bed side cabinet also the reading light had no bulb, I paid for room with a view but was on the ground floor so could not see much. At breakfast the toast was very slow and sausages not cooked enough, Don’t want to go on to much but don’t think I stay again rather pick a premier inn

Hotel was clean and tidy, staff were all friendly and polite. Bar prices were very reasonable. We didn't get food as we arrived too late. But they gave use cutlery for out take away food we ordered. The staff at breakfast were very nice and polite, breakfast was nice and plenty of choice. The night we stayed Wednesday the 1st October. It was karaoke 🎤 and the older ladies and gents around the area were have a right good singalong.... it was a great atmosphere.

Shower wasn’t good.. dial on wall leaked and ran all over floor.. no bath mat… no hairdryer supplied and had to fetch extra milk etc and staff had to search all over because they wasn’t stocked up … Once at breakfast were told there was no tables for 2 available even though there was larger tables set up.. but a more qualified lady told us we could sit at one …

Outstanding Stay During the Great North Run!

We stayed in the penthouse for the Great North Run and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond from the moment we checked in until the moment we left—professional, warm, and genuinely welcoming. The penthouse itself was stunning, with incredible views and every detail thought of to make our stay special. It was the perfect space to relax before and after the race, with comfort and luxury in equal measure. What really stood out was the service. Nothing was too much trouble, and every interaction felt personal. The team made us feel valued and completely at ease, which made our whole weekend even more memorable. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay for the Great North Run—or any occasion—this hotel is unbeatable. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely be back!

The location is great

Uncomfortable rooms, beds are extremely poor. Food was okay, but got all four dinner orders wrong. Was there on a works conference and people were travelling nationally to meet, and see people who they hadn’t for years and was great to catch up, but was told off by someone in the bar for talking while people were singing karaoke!! Disgusting!

The location and food was lovely.

The facilities are dated and the room had no plug sockets next to the bed. The room had no fridge and the kettle was bad. The mattress was a spring mattress which wasn’t comfortable. The TV remote didn’t work properly.

Amazing location but decor and facilities let the hotel down

I loved the location, right next to the beach and the fact breakfast was included.

The rooms are very very outdated, although the room was reasonably clean but the rooms could do with a complete revamp for the price you pay, the taps in the bathroom were ridiculous, either freezing cold or boiling hot and no air conditioning on a very hot weekend. Its a shame really because its a beautiful location The staff are great and it could be an even better hotel.

Poor standards.

Breakfast was the only nice part

Everything I would like to state that in no way shape or form was this the fault of the staff and just terrible computers. we arrived at 4 o'clock to the hotel to go check in and pay so we can drop our bags off and went back out to enjoy our day. Came back to the hotel around 9 oclock to be told by the receptionist that we had not paid for the room and the payment never went through. It took a solid 20 minutes arguing that we paid for our room including the proof of payment on our bank to which thankfully she finally believed us when we showed her the time. Turns out it was a computer error. Totally ruined our trip. As for the room we had it was disgusting. Two singles beds when I paid for a double bed, floors dirty, unknown substance on the walls, mold in the ketal and the bathroom looks like it needs knocked down a rebuilt. Was hoping to book my wedding here which was part of the reason we came however I shall now be looking for a better venue. Shame looks like a beautiful place on the outside too maybe need to retrain the cleaners.

Cannot fault the staff at this hotel one tiny bit they were fantastic - hotel ideally situated 2 mins to beach and 10 min walk to all facilities. Breckie was plentiful and if you wanted different they would accommodated if they could. Big pat on the back for all the staff they make the hotel : )

Hotel very much needs a refurb for what it cost us it was way over priced - no iron or ironing board in room had to ask at reception - sink taps were a bit dodgy espech the hot water tap nearly scalded ourselves trying to turn it on as the water gushed out like a waterfall room furniture very dated and worn and beware that if you want quiet as this hotel is not we could hear people speaking in the hall way with our door closed quite clearly also you get an unexpected alarm call at 6.30 in morning from the ferries fog horn - we can only assume people go to this hotel because of where it is situated and the owners seem to know it.
