Great location, great room, friendly staff

Very clean room, you get a lot for the price you pay too, especially considered I'd booked quite late. Great welcome when you come in, the owners seem really nice.

Broken shower in room but we were moved 2nd day. Beds are very small doubles. Owner has an adult son living there who is very rude to guests.

Very welcoming greetings from host. Very quiet room with good facilities. Excellent value for money. Robes & slippers in room were a bonus. Really excellent breakfast.

Double bed wasn’t the must comfortable, would recommend the owners upgrade to a new super king or king size bed.

Paul was a great host and house was clean.

Breakfast was very good, the bed was ok, we are used to king size. The host was very welcoming.

The bed side lights were a bit dull, we both read so a bit awkward. We were on the 2nd floor so a bit difficult for my wife who has a disability, GNR weekend so lucky to get a room at all.

Great value, well sized and well located accommodation

Well located for the high street in South Shields and for travelling into Newcastle with a very welcoming and helpful host. Great sized accommodation, very clean with good shower room, TV, WiFi, nice beds and well decorated. Easy enough to park for free nearby. Great value and highly recommended.

Georgian history back in time

I think the property was a georgian property 🤔🫠🙂 built in the 1900's. A couple from the south west moved up here nearly 10 years ago. I am very impressed!

The hilly streets of South Shields can be a put off for disabled people . If you have a car that's fine. On foot from the city centre can be overbearing...

The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff (Paul) was great and lovely to meet his granddaughter.

The shower was tight and the breakfast was just OK. I was expecting better.

Great value for money, in a surprisingly pleasant area

Didn’t have breakfast (through choice). But copious self-service tea, coffee, biscuits in room. Good shower. Excellent value for money.

Seagulls were noisy in early morning. Address difficult to find first time: one half of street appears to have a different name, both on street signs and on maps. Neither of these is the fault of the Kingsmere!

Great Location close to beach , parks , shops . The room , bed, tea & coffee facilities and breakfast provided were very good and the host was friendly. It’s an ideal place to stay in my opinion and was excellent value for money given the cost of staying anywhere these days. Totally recommend 👍

Cheap for a couple of nights stay

Negatives: Lots of cobwebs around ceiling. Tiny drink fridge was dirty inside. Bed had plywood board under mattress which banged every time I moved. Shower was scalding hot or freezing cold with very little power. Room was cold and heater on timer which was running an hour behind GMT and could not be overridden. Positives: bedding and towels good quality and clean.

Great location on the Lawe Top of South Shields. Nice room.

Lovely appointed property. Well kept. Clean and homely.

Not dislikes, just inconveniences. We were woken due to a dog getting excited outside our door/on landing and someone trying to quietly call for it (unsure if belonged to a guest or the owners?). On both occasions of myself and my partner showering, the temperature fluctuated suddenly whilst being under it, to the point of being extremely hot to the point it hurt.
