Night away

Large, spacious room with everything we needed and more. Fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle and the usual bed which was very comfy. Milk and yoghurt in the fridge and a hamper was supplied for breakfast. Ample choice, something for everyone.

We had our own private bathroom and not an ensuite but the bathroom was very close, so not really a problem.

I definitely wouldn’t recommend to anyone as not my idea of a decent break and very disappointing

The room was comfortable and big enough.

In my 35 years of staying at various Beds and Breakfasts throughout the UK I have never experienced what passed for a meal like the one provided. Not only there wasn’t an English breakfast or a dining room to have it in which wasn’t mentioned on the description but the owner’s idea of food was a box left outside the room containing a sugar filled prepackaged sad looking croissant, pain au chocolat and two slices each of wholemeal/white bread. Individual packs of sugary cereals were also available. Even though I wouldn’t have eaten it there was no chocolate for the guests as specified in the description. Not a single fruit was available and I had to ask for all the stuff above to be swapped for some which I was provided with the next morning eventually. The host is hardly ever around and out working so this may explain the set up above but again this was not specified and had I been made aware of it I would have never booked it. Booking.com really needs to step up and provide accurate information for their customers.

Home from home and lovely surroundings. The room was lovely. We had our own bathroom but not ensuite. Owner was really welcoming and helpfull. Breakfast was left outside your room so you eat in your room.

To the point B and B great value for money

Very comfortable bed and a massive room and bathroom. Loads of parking. Very warm welcome from the host Mike and family . Nothing too much trouble. I w Xas made to feel very welcome in his home. Good continental breakfast delivered to the door with a microwave fridge and toaster in the room plus tea and coffee facilities.

Nice and spacious, quiet location, easy to find, spotlessly clean. Stayed here after an event at Thetford forest and was very easy to get back to. Mike was very pleasant and we really enjoyed our stay, until he charged us twice and did not refund!

Was surprised that bathroom was not en-suite but across the landing. Not really a problem but would have preferred to know this before booking. One room does have en-suite, so book that one if this is important to you! Charged twice, he acknowledged it was wrong then did not refund. Had to go via a fraud claim with bank.

Beautiful place! The room was a good size with a Very comfy bed! Breakfast was nice, plenty for us. Lovely friendly owner.

The only thing is it would have been useful to have a dressing table to do hair etc and a full length mirror but as we only stayed one night it wasn’t really a big deal we just compromised with the dining table and mirror that was there.

This was honestly the nicest place I've ever stayed. Everything was so cozy, so comfy. The building and rooms are stunning with lovely attention to detail. Comfy bed and pillows. The facilities were impeccable and great selection of brekkie bits. Host was welcoming and friendly. I could live here. Could not ask for more!

Nice property and location, be prepared for continental breakfast.

Large, comfortable room, nice large ensuite with shower over the bath. The room had a good sized meal table, kettle, microwave, toaster and mini fridge. The house is in quite a quiet wooded area and is set in spacious grounds with plenty of parking. The owner, Mike, texted with details for us to find the house. Good value for money and a lucky find.

We were expecting a traditional B & B breakfast but instead there is a basic continental breakfast provided to eat in the room. I'm sure this suits a lot of people but you might need to plan your other meals around this. Perhaps a call to the owner would be useful to check details.

Disappointing stay the B&B did not reflect its reviews!

Property on the whole was in a nice setting but the main road traffic at night was very noisy! The secondary glazing was missing from a sash window probably why it was so noisy at night !

No staff or owner on site B&B is very dated and tired much below an expected basic standard of cleanliness and hygiene.All appliances need replacing rusty microwave ,the unusable kettle was thick with limescale and the toaster appeared never cleaned Continental breakfast was served in a box the slices of mixed bread had been placed in a faded re used bag was not appealing! And a very mouldy grubby bathroom not en-suite especially the window the shower did not look safe the doors was mouldy and rusty but the bath was clean though dusty!

Great location and spacious room

Lovely room and friendly helpful owner there to welcome us. Great location not far from Bury St Edmunds town. Only improvement could be some protein options in the continental breakfast, perhaps cheese portions in the fridge. We don't really eat cereals/bread/pastries.

Excellent B&B, lots of charm and lovely host!

We had the family room, it was spacious, had everything you needed. Breakfast was served in our room, with a continental breakfast parcel delivered to your room door. The B&B is a charming house with lots of land, so feels quite remote but you are only approx 8 mins for everything and was very easy to get a taxi to places, I would recommend Getaway Cars, they were very reliable. Mike is a fabulous host, made us feel very welcome. We will definitely stay again.

Very comfortable relaxing quiet country setting close to a beautiful historic town .

Continental breakfast was plentiful and tasty was left outside your room to have at your leisure which we took full advantage of by sitting at a lovely laid table in our pyjamas. The small fridge in the room allowed the advantage of the provided fresh milk yogurts and assorted butters, jams, marmalade ect.

one minor thing was that there was only one comfy wicker chair in the room apart from the two dining chairs.

Lovely place to stay. Mike was helpful with booking in and showing us where everything was. Bed comfy, nice and quiet, slept well, room spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good. Would definitely stay again.

Welcoming owners, good location for where I was working. Large room, comfortable bed. Bathroom down hallway not what I prefer, but shower worked well.

it was my mistake for not reading the reviews but when working I need a full English to last me through the day until dinner. The breakfast is a continental with, again for me, too many sugary options and no decaf tea on offer

Dressing gown

Booked a room without onsuite facilities my mistake but luckily took dressing gown so night visits to the loo were not a problem. Love the Breakfast box and mini fridge with milk orange juice and yogurts. The microwave could be very handy but we ate out with friends. Room very warm.

Good rural B&B near Bury St Edmunds.

Good well organised B&B. The directions that you are provided with to find the property are clear and good. Very clean throughout the bedroom and bathroom. Pleasant proprietors. Breakfast is eaten in the bedroom, which is a spacious room with a fridge, microwave and toaster. Breakfast consists of cereal, pastries, fruit juice, yogurt, bread and conserves and a small selection of fruit. Plenty of room for parking, and a good rural position some 3 miles from Bury St Edmunds.

The stairs to the room were quite steep, and there is no help with your luggage. Some lights over the mirror in the bathroom didn't work. As a solo traveller, I found having everything in your room a bit isolating. It would have been good to have some cheeses and smoked meats with the breakfast. The additional information provided after booking is rather too long, and perhaps could be less voluminous.

Great value & location to the British sugar social club

We have stayed here a few times before & always try & book room 1. We have met Mike's Mum & Mike once, but just let ourselves in & then go out for the evening at the British sugar social club. We have already booked 3 stays for 2024 👍

This is a B & B in the country. We are older and were not suitable tenants for this type of property.

Quiet peaceful setting in the country. Host was amiable and tried to help with the wifi which wouldn’t connect to our computers.

Rooms up steep stairs with no lift. Carpets were dirty. Breakfast was continental with bread products left at your door during the night. Bathroom was not in suite although it was private.

Location was very close to where we had an event to attend

Very dated property. Room was extremely cold, and the carpet was grubby. There were spider webs behind the headboard and lots of dust, which clearly had not been cleaned for sometime. Although the bed linen was clean, the duvet was too lightweight for the time of year, and the pillows were so thin and uncomfortable. The private bathroom, which was solely for our use, was ok, but the shower tray was dirty and screens were not clean. We chose not eat the continental breakfast offered in our room. Overall I think cleaning needs more attention and more consideration should be given for comfort of the customer. We would not choose to stay here again.
