Location was 10/10 - Beautiful coral garden at your doorstep with sealife of every kind, including turtles. There's also a pool up the top of the hill with beautiful views if you prefer. Service was 10/10 - The staff really went out of their way to take care of everyone including daily service and breakfast where you have 3 choices, simple but filling. Drinking water is provided for the rooms which we very much appreciated. Accomodation was 7/10 - We were put in one of the units right at the beach front. The unit itself is old and very run down. The front door doesn't have a proper lock but we felt safe. There's a rusty lock that barely works going into the outdoor bathroom which had a rusty faucet. The beds are old, the towels are worn. I'm not sure if we got upgraded or downgraded because when I booked, the photos showed one of the more recent units on the hill with seaview. The ones by the beach look like they haven't been maintained or renovated in the past 10 years. Despite all this, the sound of the waves all day made up for the lack of 'luxury'. There's aircon, a fan, a fridge and a kettle so we had everything we needed. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend this place to budget travellers who aren't fussy and happy to rough it out village styles. For what we paid for our 6 nights, we feel like we won the lottery. Suksma Bamboo Bali.
We didn't mind the lack of luxury, it was more the lack of privacy that removed stars for us. The place is a thoroughfare for everyone in the community. You'll have people going past at all times of the day including vendors trying to sell you all kinds of things.

I always love coming back here. It’s actually even nicer in reality than in the pictures. The garden and the pool are fantastic and you can enjoy beautiful views over the bay from there. Yet it’s only a few steps down to the sea.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, with super comfortable beds and a well equipped terrace that includes a kettle, tea, coffee, a fridge, and fresh drinking water. Great value for money!
The staff are really kind, welcoming and helpful. And if you need transportation or want to make a day trip, I can highly recommend their excellent driver Wayan who also speaks good English and is a really pleasant person to be with.

Staff are friendly and good location close to Jemeluk Bay. Fantastic snorkelling.
Low water pressure in shower.

It’s a very beautiful property on the hill looking over Jemeluk Bay. Our bungalow was beautiful. 2 beds for a family of 4. Nice bathroom and our balcony had amazing views of the ocean and awesome sunrises. There was a really nice swimming pool and the staff were great. So accommodating and attentive to all our requests.
The breakfast was a little hit and miss but it was pretty good to be fair as it is was included in the price of our room.

Great quiet location. Across the road from the beach. Simple little pad. With fridge and kettle. And mossie net around the bed. The lads managing it were super helpful.
I didn’t use the pool. it’s on the top level of the hostel and it looked lovely with great views.
It’s a bit too far away from the ease of amenities of Amed. And its terraced so there’s LOTS of steep steps so if mobility/small Children are to be considered be aware. My room was in the bottom part by the entrance and the road was quite noisy.

the room has a balcony facing the beach and can see sun rise and dry your wet suits. The property is very close to the beach and the dive center and some small cafes.
I stayed on the 2nd floor in a very old building across the road from the hotel. Its detached from the hotel property. the room is very basic and old but acceptable clean. the room is very dark, no lights at the entrance, No TV, simple and old furniture, power plugs is hanging out of the wall. If you want to eat in better cafes, you have to walk about 15 minutes on uneven road.

The location was amazing! We could walk right out to the beach.
The mattress was old and the bathroom drain was very slow.

Location right on the beach - not private but not a busy one either (there are 11 rooms apparently, 2 of which are ground level on the beach, one of which we stayed in, 2 of which are 1st story on the beach - it's a couple minutes to the beach if you're in one of the bungalows across the road). This is a cool beach - it's rocky and black sand but the snorkelling is good here. Look online you'll see some maps of where to snorkel in this area and they're very short walking distance from here (5mins to the left corals and turtles, 2 mins to the right and a calmer but nice reef dropoff at Jameluk) but right out the front you'll see stuff while snorkelling too. Aircon worked well, hangar-sized bathroom (possibly only in this room) with a little garden inside, nice bamboo woven ceilings. Lots of restaurants nearby including on the beach, markets within short walk, even money changers, even some boutique shops despite the relative remoteness.
Maintenance issues (power sockets coming out of the wall, sliding locks hard to use) ate into the comfort levels, some stains on sheets which is a worry, there is a lot of traffic on the road behind (didn't bother us much though). If you're in the beach side you're kind of surrounded by stuff going on and people moving through.

Nice staff
Bathroom is outdoor. Very loud chants, music and screams at 5am. Very uncomfortable bed.

Nice bungalows surrounded by garden and a nice pool. Rooms are basic and clean as is the bathroom
Also only minor things they could improve a stay a lot. The bathroom sink was dripping, low shower pressure, loose tiles in bathroom. Staff although plentiful are not very attentive, room wasn’t cleaned. They picked up drinking glasses we borrowed but did not replace them or clean the used tea cups.

Really clean lovely bungalows with a Seaview. Clean infinity pool which was shaded in late afternoon for refreshing swims. Lovely place with helpful staff at all times. Very short walk from jemuluk bay for snorkelling and close to a supermarket and good restaurants (we loved Seaview). They cleaned our room every day.. Great value for those on a budget..
Really, it was only the road noise we didn't like, but that stopped between about 10 and 6 for a quiet night's sleep. The call to prayer sounds across area at 6 am for a crazy wake up call but that's timed to sunrise so it's quite convenient.

Excellent value for money in Amed! My room had a balcony with a sea view, good wi-fi & effective aircon. Very happy with it. Sizeable bathroom & decent shower. Helpful staff & a good breakfast. Recommended place to stay!
Some electric sockets needed re-attaching to the wall- it wouldn't take long to fix more securely!

Close to the beach and nice restaurants. Close to snorkling spots. The staff was nice, minus the extortion part. The pool is really nice.
Room was old and had moisture damage on the walls. They gave me room facing the street so it was very noisy which they also told me and said those are the rooms from booking and immediately asked if i don't want to pay double to move to the upper floor where it is quieter. When i checked in booking, no other rooms were currently marked as available but for next week the upper rooms were and it showd me only 50k more than mine for both nights. Definitely not double. Of course i didnt move as i do not like extortion. Breakfast was very basic as usual for Bali some egg options and a small fruit platter and a tea/coffee. The room doors don't shut fully closed. There were roosters, bikes sounds throughout the night and the second night some generator charging right opposite of my room for a few hours. Make sure if u stay here to pick the higher price rooms with pool view. The taxis they offer are much higher price than what u can get with local drivers.

The staff is friendly and helpful.
The room gets cleaned daily.
There are great views from the hill side villas onto the ocean.
The property is across the street from the beach.
Lots of places to eat from on the beach side.
The property is built on a hillside, it would not be good for someone with mobility issues.

The swimming pool is nice
The rooms 6 & 7 (we had the 7) are extremely noisy. It’s 10m from the main road so when it’s like having each bike crossing your room. There is also a water pump just across the street working all night and fighting roosters in their cages cawing all day. Also gang of dogs on the road barking at night. Not a pleasant stay as you need a room to relax and sleep… We stayed 3 nights. The last night there was at least 2 others rooms available. Knowing the issue of our room (that they can’t ignore and we told them), it would have been at least a good commercial gesture to offer us to change as we asked them.

Clean spacuous bungalow. Staff are able to organise scooter and snorkelling equipment cheaper than other local businesses. Bungalow on the hill far enough away from road to not hear traffic. Central location

Staff were very kind and accommodating as I requested a change of room due to noise from the road and they helped. I was moved to a beautiful room with the beach on my door step which was just wonderful.
The rooms are spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, and I liked that it has mosquito net. The bathroom is very nice too. I enjoyed having a deck at the front to relax. There is air conditioner too, and staff clean and tidy the room everyday.
For breakfast I used to order banana pancake which was nice.
The swimming pool with sea view is great.
There are also 2 massage therapists that wonder around and I had 2 massage and were great.
I found it pretty good, and mostly good value for money.
I also good help to organise snorkeling and to go finishing at sunrise which was beautiful. They also assist if you need a taxi and it is not easy to find otherwise.
WiFi worked well during my stay as well when I did a zoom call.
It would have been helpful having the water dispenser somewhere where we can help ourselves without having to wait for a staff member to be around to refill the bottle. But it's not a big thing.
Also depending on which room, it can be quite noisy by the road. But it was sorted when I moved to a room by the sea, on the other side of the road. This means I had to cross the road to access the swimming pool but that was not a problem for me, and I had a swim in the sea most of the time anyways.
(I am refering to the standard rooms. If you upgrade, bamboo hill rooms are further up the hill next to the swimming pool which looked very nice as well)

The staff were pleasant, attentive and helpful. It was clean when we arrived and they emptied the boss during our stay and fixed the room.
Also a good location in Amed, you can rent scooters and also eat food at the place.

Beachfront
My room didn’t have a Hammock like the pictures. The shower was up too high and didn’t have an option to point down so I had to hold it to take my shower which doesn’t work well for me because I like using two hands when I shower. But there was plenty of nice hot water!

The photos don't do it justice. Perfect location for snorkelling and restaurants. Staff were all super lovely and helpful, room was very clean and comfortable, pool has a beautiful view. Good selection for breakfast. Overall great value for money, would definitely stay again.

Although our rooms on the seaside were rather basic, we got first row access to the beach, so the high tide almost reached our porch :) , and we loved watching the sea from the patio.
The staff (owner and sons) were very friendly, and helpful.
The included breakfast was very tasty, as well as the restaurant that belonged to the hotel.
Both the air-conditioner and the fridge were OK, and the shower had hot water.
The beachfront rooms could use a small touch of maintenance.
One of the rooms had a broken shower hose.

Situated in front of Jemeluk Bay with snorkeling 🤿 at your doorstep.
Wonderful and attentive local staff and owner. The hotel is rustic but it’s well priced and situated right on Jemeluk Bay. The local business owners and staff are great, and we enjoyed making friends with some of the locals in town.
Be wary of the masseuse ladies who operate in the area and service the hotel guests. They wear pink polo shirts and solicit on the street. My partner fell asleep during his massage as when he woke up, the money was gone from his pockets.
Overall, in Amed there is aggressive selling of saris, sunglasses and bracelets on the beach by locals, including a band of children who rove the beach dawn till dusk. The sellers approach you from the beach even when you are sitting inside a restaurant enjoying a meal. We eventually left as it became exhausting to deal with, despite it being a beautiful place.

Everything as described and pictured. Lovely sea views , cool little patio with hammock and fridge. Rooms are comfy and clean good aircon. The staff are lovely made breakfast early when we dived without asking and accommodated our changed schedule no problem. Restaurant operated across road at beach great for meals. All easy breezy , no hassle here. Enjoy!

The property is beautiful with great view from almost every room. Pool was perfect, also for the kids. Breakfast is fine - omelette, fruit and coffee. Close to nice cafés, restaurants and beach. Great snorkelling adventures right outside the door!
Lot of dog barking and roosters crowning at all times. The owner is helpful but also seems a little pushy at times.

We loved our night’s stay in Bamboo, the pool was amazing with a gorgeous sea view and really beautiful greenery surrounding the property. A short walk to some great food and a clean and homely bungalow style room.
