The LaLiT Traveller- Airport hotel

There were a lot of people shouting and screaming in the corridor until the wee hours.

excellent breakfast--- spread and variety plenty to choose

some days the number of guests overload the staff ... but that is natural. they manage

Location was very good and close to the airport. The lobby and entrance was very good as well.

The hotel is divided into two properties, LaLit and Lalit Traveller. Both have similar images but the Traveller section is "cheaper" and not the luxury category. I had booked the traveller version as I was not aware that there is another option available. It was evident to me only after arrival at the hotel. The check-in time is 2PM. We reached at 4PM and were told that the room would be ready soon but the front desk did not commit a time. Not expected from a 5-star brand. We had a good meal while waiting. At around 5/530PM they told us the room is ready. I went up to the room and there was an OBNOXIOUS STENCH. The bell boy told me that it would go away in a few minutes and suggested I keep the door open and wait. It was so terrible that I could not wait for even a minute. I went to the front desk and told them the issue. It was evident from their reaction they were aware of this and were just trying their luck by giving me the room. They said the hotel is fully sold out. After we continued to complain, the senior front desk person magically arranged for a different room in the same wing after another 30 minutes. During this time I had asked the bell boy to get my luggage because I was worried of any contamination to the food that was in my hand luggage. When the new room was arranged, the bell boy was asked to take the luggage back up ... this seemed to irritate him and he kept banging the bags in the wall while taking the luggage up. To the extent I had to tell him to take it easy and this was only happening because of the hotel's mistake. The new room was decent but well worn out, bathroom towels could have been cleaner. After the poor start I was not at all comfortable with the hygiene factor. All in all, a very shabby experience. Not staying at this property again. The restaurant chef & waiter did a great job and due to them this is not a 1-star review.
