Good value, close to airport

The hotel seemed very good, room good standard and we had lunch there , also high quality. We only booked it to use for the afternoon before our flight as it is close to airport. A good alternative to an airport lounge . We expected to use the rooftop pool and relax there away from the hustle of Jaipur. Unfortunately the pool is under maintenance so we couldn’t access the rooftop area at all. It had been closed for a few days before but Booking.com didn’t alert us to this. Unfortunately this didn’t meet our expectations.

Good stay

Friendly staff, cleanliness, decent food options.

While the food is not bad, there is scope for improvement. Poha for example, is extremely dry, white coconut chutney doesn't have any distinct taste etc. There is a need to install exhaust in the toilet. Pay attention to polishing doors etc at the right time. Guest shouldn't need to remind about the terms and conditions of billing as per the booking terms.Last, no pressure on the guest to give good ratings..You are good and only need to improve!

Not recommended

The room is large and airy, with a large window with a view on the street. The bed is comfy. The desk is handy. The bathroom is fitted with a small bathtub that we never used. It would have been great to have a larger shower room in place. The buffet spread is decent with a limited choice.

The staff is not welcoming nor friendly or helpful. Most of the time, the doorman let us open the entrance door by ourselves. The soundproofing is awful. Our room is close to the lift and as the the hotel is jam-packed, we can hear people hollering and stamping in the corridor until late in the night. I could only close my eyes for one night out of the four nights we stayed at the hotel. We have complained to the reception but they did not want to give us another room. Nobody has ever asked us on our feedback on our stay. No salad for breakfast. Limited options for the coffee, that is not served at the table. We have to order the coffee every morning and the staff would not ask us if we want milk or sugar. Paper towel at breakfast. Overall, the hotel is below the average for a 5 star.

We really enjoyed our stay here.

We really enjoyed our stay here at the Orchid. The luxury of the hotel reception and room exceeded our expectations and the location was great, only a 6 minute drive from Jaipur airport. The buffet food was delicious and we enjoyed everything we tried. There was a really good variety offered for both breakfast and dinner. The room was spacious with a great sized bed! The staff were all very friendly and really helpful in arranging taxis for us, especially Udit. A big thank you to you all.

Worst 5 star hotel I've seen

Location

The hotel has a really bad ventilation issue and is under maintenance. The corridors and rooms you can smell and feel the damp in the air. We had child with us with asma issues and is not good for them. The lady who was helping us did her very best to sort it (think her name was Bhavnisa, sorry if I spelt that wrong) she was 5 star for service. But the other rooms on other floors still had the problem. Floor 4 you could smell fresh paint and was so strong they should have closed the floor until this work was completed and smell gone. They have a pool but you can't use it in the afternoon. So much points you shouldn't deal with being in a '5' star hotel. The reason for 1 star service is one of the senior staff tried to pass off these serious issue like it was nothing. Then tried to be funny about a deal agreed with a breakfast upgrade (bare minimum) for what we were going through This is not a 5 star hotel right now. It might have been before but it felt like 3 star. We ended up getting a refund and staying at Novotel about 15mins away. Slightly more price but facilities so much better.

In room dining is average. I was travelling with my 2 year old baby. After repeatedly saying 4-5 times to sterilise the milk bottles they did not do it. Apparently they do not boil or sterilise the baby bottles, It’s not in their disclaimer or policy.

Overall looked like they don't care for the guests

The front desk is too disappointing; at the time of check-in, there was nobody to take the luggage up to the room, also during the check-out, it took too much of time for the billing. I asked for a glass of water at reception, which was not provided even after repeated requests, very poor and unprofessional front desk staff.

The stay was ok. With little enjoyable moments

Clean room, quick support from the staff, very welcoming, friendly guest relation officer, smiling faces everywhere.

They served stalled food (fish)during the dinner, it was severely rotten and seems the fish was from the precious days and cooked again. When I highlighted to the staff, the given explanation chef was illogical. We also noticed the sweets repeatedly used in lunch and dinner. They organise the cultural show, the artists asked us the tip after the show and we were forced to give them. During busy breakfast morning, only two staff to attend the whole restaurant when it filled with all guests. We saw the staff was struggling to attend the guests, cleaning etc. felt sad for them.

Very average business hotel

Location

The quality of food was very poor. The website mentions that the Club room will have access to the executive lounge, but the lounge wasn't operational at all. At the time of check in the staff just handed over the key without explaining the facilities of the hotel and what this club room offers and where the breakfast would be served etc. At the time of breakfast, even though we had booked the room with breakfast included, we were told that our booking is for room only. We had to really show them the proof that the breakfast is included, the quality of which as such was very poor.

Horrible experience

Room size and property was fairly clean. Staff was friendly.

Room AC is glitchy. It was too cold in the start and I had to call someone to fix it. They fixed it by reducing the water flow, which means their is no manual AC control in the room. Then it got too hot and reducing the temperature didn't help. It remained uncomfortably hot throughout the rest of the stay. They also had some sort of loud music event happening on 1st floor (we were on 2nd floor) which went on till 12:40 am and I had to call reception atleast 5 times for them to do something. They also had a power cut at 6:30 in the morning. Overall because of these issues we managed to sleep less than 5h in the night.

Some of the staff members are really helpful. The entertainment is good, specially the folk dances.

We were given a room where the toilet did not work. We were so exhausted by a 12 hour international flight and this is what we get eventually we were given a different room. At the time of checkout we were delayed by one hour and the hotel insisted on charging us for that extra hour! Overall, I felt this Hotel lacks empathy and skills of customer service. The interiors are very old the carpets have seen better days and the room smell of damp. It needs refurbishing.

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed is super comfortable and easy to rest. The en-suite was up to the mark. Overall a clean and tidy place. Value for money. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
