The location. The Grest Hall. The cosy fire.
The view.
Our room was a Queen Suite. It was attractive however, the decor was slightly shabby. Our wardrobe did not have enough hangers and the towels in the bathroom were worn, with threading at the edge. The extra channels on the TV did not work, and the explanation was that “it is probably due to recent bad weather”. Breakfast was adequate but somewhat rushed. A slightly later than 9.30 last orders would have been more convenient.

A lovely old hall with an amazing ambiance, and on a winter day great log fires!
Bedroom was to a good standard.
My wife had a gluten attack after the evening meal/ breakfast after emphasising being celiac and we are not sure from what? A pity as everything seemed great.

No matter the season, the historic beauty and warmth of this place never fails to please!
The main hall was absolutely Wow decked out in all its festive glory with the magnificent Christmas tree and roaring open fire.
A special shout out to all the friendly,
helpful, hardworking staff, thank you!

We absolutely love this hotel. A beautiful building which has renovated very sympathetically and keeps a lot of the original features but is also very modern.
The staff were very engaging and nothing too much trouble.
We booked the queen room which is stunning.
The meal in the evening was beautiful and not overpriced at all, we had all three courses and it was substantial.
The best part of this property is the main room with the minstrel bannister and open fire, just so gorgeous in this cold weather.

Beautiful comfortable old house with friendly and attentive staff.
Loud Christmas party going on until after 12:30 right below bedroom and door to garden of function room wedged open so it was even louder.

Beautiful common areas and atmosphere. Lots of effort at Christmas.
I’ve been using the hotel for many years. The smaller rooms are looking tired and dated and aren’t as well maintained as they once were. I think it needs a refresh.

Location was perfect for the beautiful ribble valley and our first impressions were wow hthis looks amazing. the entrance hall is magnificent though only if you can cope with/enjoy the smell of woodsmoke as there was a constant smell from the huge fire (which unfortunately wasn't great from my husbands asthma)
Quality of breakfast was good, and we were served quickly, but disappointed by lack of fruit or yoghurt etc.
Our evening meal was good but limited choice on the menu.
Very, very disappointed by what we thought was going to be a peaceful rural stay. There was a wedding on at the venue on the friday night with extremely loud thumping music going on until midnight that completely ruined our enjoyment of our stay. We are people who like to read quietly in bed and we had to put the TV on loud to try to drown out the noise.
I ran a bath at 11pm (really for something to kill the time until the noise stopped) to find there was no hot water. By the time the noise including other drunken guests stopped at 1am ish, I was so wound up that I barely had any sleep.
The room was very dated (we were in the Tudor suite) and the lighting was poor with grubby carpet, and mould on the tile grouting in the bathroom.
Tiny little teacups to make drinks in the room, and we were told they didn't have anything bigger at the hotel when i asked at reception. Expect better inthe North of England!
Beds comfy though and our first night there was lovely and quiet. Curtains also good blackout.
The night staff ( reluctantly- having initially said they didn't have any other free rooms) offered us another (and to be fair a much nicer room) but the noise was no better there so neither of us could face moving at 10,30pm. The staff were very defensive, talking about their contract with the wedding couple and that we would have been infiormed with our confirmation, which we definitely were NOT, possibly because it was via booking.com. I would have cancelled if I had known that there would be that much noise disturbance.
I suggest you check to see if there is a function on before you book here.

The Princess suite was fabulous! The room was very generously sized, I loved the decor and the bed was super comfy. The grounds of the hotel were lovely and the period building was utterly charming.
Breakfast coffee could have been better, but the cooked breakfast was nice.

Great location. Charming rustic hotel with real character.
Pillows not ideal for side sleeper. Perhaps some additional different pillow types in the rooms.

We went for my Birthday room was lovely but smaller than expected. Breakfast was lovely
We were told that we had been upgraded as it was my Birthday but on talking to our friends the day after they had been given my room ( they didn’t no I had been given a larger room/bed , so we didn’t no about the room until we were talking at Breakfast. I think when the lady on reception checked us in she should have asked who the upgrade room was for!!!!

Beautiful property, stunning hall and gallery.
Spacious, light room
Very good breakfast
Proximity to Whalley and lovely countryside
Room was a little tired and limited garden view, above aircon/generator unit which might be a problem for light sleepers
Faded cushions, no luggage rack and bathroom has no towel rails or hooks near the bath/shower
Given the room rate, expected more attention to detail in the room

Location
Cobwebs on the four poster bed trim and dusty. Pillows were flat with zero fillings. The bed is uncomfortable.
There was a wedding party scheduled until 1 a.m., and the hotel placed us next to the reception hall where the party was taking place. We heard music until 1 a.m.
Mitton Hall is not worth the price paid.

Evening meal in the bar was superb, the beef and ale pie....very yummy!
Hmmm, maybe trying too hard to be different. I ordered eggs on toast with avocado and chilli jam....it was a bit OTT for breakfast.

Beautiful old Manor House set in lovely grounds. Lovely outside area to sit and have a drink in the gardens.
Very tired in the inside. The bedroom was very small and the walls very thin so much so I could hear full conversations from room next door and could even hear their kettle boiling. Bed was comfortable but hardly slept due to being able to hear snoring from next room.

Bedroom was dirty and dusty and noisy Wasn’t well cleaned

Stunning hotel set in very peaceful grounds. Very welcoming with a roaring log fire even in June. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Arranged an early check in for us.
Bed was very comfortable and we had tea and coffee facilities.
Lots of choice at breakfast and the hot food was cooked fresh.
Some mould in the shower but understand this is unavoidable in a room with no window.

Nothing, maybe upgrade some power points in the bedrooms to accommodate USB chargers but appreciate it’s an old place

Beautiful property.
At first glance the room was clean but when I went to use the plug socket there was thick dust and under the bed had not been cleaned in a long time. I needed to push the bed to the side and was met with months worth of dust and litter.

Good parking, suite was a good size room and was quiet in the evening.
Very dark on the inside lounge although probably cosy in the winter months with the log fires. Did not ask if we wanted sauces at breakfast or toast. You could get if asked but could not find staff easily. But breakfast on hole was fine. Staff need more training in customer service.

We loved everything, amazing building, rooms were gorgeous and spotless, staff were extremely friendly and helpful The food was fabulous. The porridge with the single malt for breakfast was delicious. The value for money was incredible. We will be back and want to try out the other properties belonging to James.
