For 5 stars just a couple of minor issues. Broken tiles in the steam room with a jagged edge which I sat on and Elevator glass, mirror doors and floor very dirty. Just expected better attention to detail for a 5 star hotel!

Excellent stay in beautiful location!
Beautiful property in a wonderful location . Views from bar and restaurant are stunning!!
Proximity to Pitlochry festival theatre was brilliant had a blustery walk down by the Salmon ladder and back . Great place to stay if attending the theatre. We had a lovely over night stay celebrating my sisters 60 th Birthday! The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Thanks to you all.
Nothing really

Will definitely be back.
beautiful location, peaceful and relaxing
Our lodge was a little dark due to limited sunlight, very comfortable though

Underwhelming
Great location. Great breakfast
Very tired. Some of the decor was like something from Trump tower. Poor service at dinner. Poor value for money for both the stay and dinner

Was good
Perfect for a short getaway — clean, quiet, and excellent service.

Very enjoyable don't want to surely pictures you happy today
Staff were excellent the spa was excellent and the foods excellent
Room was pretty small and had no view and not particularly glamorous
The spa treatment prices were too high. Have stayed at many spa hotels and feel the prices need to be more reasonable. We didn’t have a treatment and would have liked to have one.

We had a wonderful stay and we will be back
The hotel was fabulous and the view overlooking the loch was amazing. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderful stay and we will be back
The 1862 restaurant could have been a bit more extensive and varied although we were very pleased with the quality of the food we had.
10.0 / 10.0
Fantastic stay. The highlight were the staff who were all so professional and helpful. A special mention should be made
We had a superior room in the woodland lodge. It was super spacious and very luxurious with very large comfortable bed
Everything was lovely
4.0 / 10.0
Disappointing.
'Meet and greet' from the concierge was good - friendly and helpful. Also the 'wee dram' when checking in. Nice bathroom with walk-in shower. Umbrella in lodge rooms in case of rain, but see below re lack of covered access.
Bed too high to get in easily. Only one hand towel. No information folder; e.g. about hotel facilities, emergencies, or even how to contact reception. No covered access to lodge rooms. Afternoon tea over-priced, not good value for money. Had to cut short our stay due to sickness - disappointed with attitude of spa/reception staff requiring payment in full for cancelled booking for massage - payment was grudgingly waived once we had returned home.

Very comfortable and welcoming. I am sure we will be back for a longer stay soon.
Very comfortable. Generous sized rooms. Good spa.
The staff were exceptional.
It was clean enough but a few minor details on lift doors etc. would have made it perfect. One or two more lights by the outdoor spa would slo be helpful

A beautiful place to stay with exceptional staff that want you to have the most Amazing stay possible.
Everything! From the warm welcome we received by Moira and Michael on our arrival, our beautiful room overlooking the gorgeous grounds, dinner in the restaurant that night and our delicious breakfast the next day. Thank you Fonab Castle Team - you are all exceptional!

Beautiful castle
The view from the room and comfy bed. The staff were nice. Cream tea was good.
The door handle on entry to room was broken, the room was okay sink needs replaced and floor tiles need cared for. Also one member of staff was almost making fun of why we were there, it was a visit for the enchanted forrest as my husband is actually poorly we chose this hotel for 5 star and away from the busier side of pitlochry. It was to create a special memory. It didn't feel 5 star sorry.

A lovely stay, but needs attention to detail
The staff were excellent, afternoon tea very good and room very comfortable. Situation stunning.
The room was very cold when we arrived. The door in our bathroom was very scratched and looked scruffy. The pool had a ball of hair at the side, the pool tiles are needing repaired in areas. In the spa changing rooms, some of soap and hand lotion dispensers were empty and the tops weren't properly on them. One of the toilet doors didn't close properly and in the shower the conditioner was empty and body wash difficult to dispense. These are all small things, but it didn't feel 5 star

Small things to be desired.
Excellent facilties
Excellent room
Excellent 7 course meal
Wife and friend enjoyed their stay.
Staff weren't overly friendly or professional.
A male concierge escorted my wife to her room but didn't offer to carry her bag. Found this bizzare when she told me this. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but this is something a 5 star establishment should do.
When my wife was in the beauty spa, she could hear staff laughing and talking loudly in the outside hallway. The whole area has signage to keep quiet and have minimal noise. Ruined the experience.
Minor details, but this is what separates the like of gleneagles and other top hotels. If hotels are asking for the same price point, they should make sure all the fine details are in place.

Very pleasant and relaxing stay in a beautiful location
We liked the individual character of the stylish modern interior in the traditional building. Onsite spa facilities and gym were a bonus.
The grounds were well tended and views were wonderful.
Staff were friendly and attentive and meals were delicious.
Navigating our own around the old and adjoining new building was confusing at times. Cracked floor tiles in the bathroom and dented lampshades gave a less than luxurious feel.

Overnight in Pitlochry
Breakfast delicious, i had the Fonab Breakfast and my wife had smashed avocado both were delicious.
We ate at the hotel for dinner and it was beautiful. Restaurant a little noisy for an intimate meal but there was a buzz about the place with lots of groups dining together.
Bar upstairs was really chilled with a good selection of drinks on offer
Sundays weather but we cant blame the hotel for that!!
Didn't like we only booked for one night, should have stayed longer.

Great location, great staff but you do pay a lot to experience it.
The overall experience was a good one, the front of house staff were really welcoming, and managed to meet every need we had. The Spa facilities were good, and the food provided at the hotel was top tier
Breakfast service was a little slow, understandable when going at a busy time but we did nearly wait and hour for our food, the shower in our room didn't fully work which you would expect in such an establishment.

Good experience
Good location next to highway. Stylish and confortable property. The food quality at the brasserie was excellent. Good breakfast as well. Pool was clean and not crowded.
The staff could be more warm and welcoming

Stay was lovely food was terrible.
The room was excellent but the hotel was badly let down by the food it really was one of the worst places to eat I've ever had and I wish that wasn't the case but dinner was terrible and so was the breakfast the staff and hotel where great though.
The food needs improved massively not really a great choice for kids either.

Maybe 5 AA stars but didn’t feel like it.
The location of the hotel would have been perfect for the Enchanted Forrest. Sadly the event was cancelled.
Its close proximity to Pitlochry town was ideal for a lovely walk. The autumn colours were beautiful and the area wasn’t too crowded with tourists so peaceful. Other than the wind it remained dry for Scotland 😂
Having concierge in Scottish attire was a nice touch, can imagine the overseas crowd would love a photo or 2.
The welcome plate was nice, I thought as we had mentioned it was our Wedding Anniversary it was a special treat. Well next door had one too, maybe they were celebrating too. It would have been nice to have a glass of champagne presented in the restaurant to say congratulations, but instead a plate was given with Happy Anniversary written in Chocolate with 2 small fondant chocolate’s to eat. Not the wow one would hope for. It’s these moments that matter and the hotel missed a wow opportunity.
Views were nice from the Lounge area.
The Entrance was underwhelming to reception, we walked in and another guest had to let us know it was the person behind the desk. He actually looked like the concierge. We were offered a wee dram of bells whisky, not even a Single Malt.
Our welcome was not 5 star and paying a higher price than local smaller properties I’d expect a little more effort. Not sure if it’s the hotel policy to pay for the room in advance of getting the Key. Or is the norm as we booked through Booking.com. Felt like we weren’t trusted.
The room itself was quite small, but considering it was an old castle can let that go. Decorations were ok. Our window was left open so on arrival met with a sharp wind blowing in, took a while to find the radiator valves. Not pleasant to be met with a cold room.
I was surprised that the room wasn’t prepared for 2 guests, we had to ask for another robe and slippers, when they arrived the concierge brought two robes, two sets of slippers and two sets of towels. We also found a wet dirty cloth in the wardrobe closet.
We took a walk to the Spa around 5:30 ish, there were no signs to make you aware of the steps and therefore because the the path was all the same colour tiles, missed the last step and jarred my back which made for a very uncomfortable night sleep on a very soft bed.
Breakfast was nice, plentiful spread for continental options. The Fonab cooked breakfast was ok, we had to ask for it as no staff came back to us, we also had to ask for milk with the coffee which never came and we not offered toast like other tables around had.

Beautiful place to stay and enjoy the highlands.
The room was nice- spacious and quiet. The with the bed and bedding was very comfortable. The grounds were beautiful with the trail around the loch behind the hotel a lovely added bonus. Breakfast was ample and delicious.
The restaurant at night seemed to be understaffed. The wait time for food was long and awkward. We had dim lights in our room that never were fixed.

Relaxing but not 5 star.
The location is beautiful. The staff are pleasant and the food was nice.
This is definitely NOT a 5 star hotell for a number of reasons. The spa, needs updated and cleaned. The outdoor jacuzzis , we struggled to work. One was Luke warm the other slightly warmer but you couldn’t spend time in them. The indoor pool had a poor job of repairing tiles. There were clumps of clay at the end of the pool where the said repair had been attempted. The is a build up of mould and rust at the bottom of the pillars near the indoor pool. The wallpaper up to the changing rooms was chipped. Three of the female lockers in the female chafing area were broken with broken door hinges. Near the spa area was a bin, under the trees required to be emptied. It was full of dog litter bags and had been left on top of the bin.
Inside the hotel, there were plates left outside hotel rooms for a number of hours which was untidy looking. Our room was lovely however a small wooden unit inside our room was worn. The paint had chipped off and is not of 5 star standard.
There is a distinct lack of staff. The lounge bar was not staffed and we wait a while for bar staff to arrive and when they did they only had a drinks menu and not food despite asking for it.
Overall it’s a lovely location but I cannot emphasise enough this is not 5 star standard, at best more like 3 star.

Fabulous place in a wonderful setting…above a scenic loch. The room, the restaurant, the spa ….the whole experience is fantastic.
Absolutely nothing.

Fantastic Hotel
The service was excellent. Staff were great .Attentative , informative, and so friendly. Food was fantastic . And a lovely setting with views of the loch. A very peaceful and comfortable room.
The swimming pool was too hot. The shower in the room had poor water pressure.

A modern experience more than a castle experience
The staff and the restaurant are very nice
The lodge rooms are very modern and the window in front of the bed is facing an pathway with people passing by, we had keep our curtains closed the whole time not enjoying any view.

Very good but slightly spoilt going up and downstairs to find someone to serve a drink .
Beautiful location overlooking Loch Faskally. Food excellent as were the staff.
Intermittent service in the main lounge bar which has an excellent and relaxing view over Loch Faskally .Unfortunately , had to go find someone to serve a drink- more than once .This is a management problem !

We celebrated our anniversary and we both agreed that we will come back to Fonab
The room was wonderful. Stayed in lodge 22 and it met all our expectations. We had breakfast delivered to the room and it was delicious. We used the spa facilities on the Sunday and they were great. I have an electric car and the onsite chargers (3 of them) were ideal. Concierge and check-in were excellent. We eat in Pitlochry so can’t comment on dinner but had a wonderful meal in the town.
Nothing of importance
