A great place to stay — comfortable, quiet, and well positioned for exploring Whangārei.

We had a really pleasant stay at Pembrooke Motor Lodge. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay. The location was convenient and made getting around Whangārei easy. Everything felt well organised and stress-free, and we appreciated how comfortable and quiet it was. We would happily stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Spacious, clean and comfortable

The family room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Well located to local shops. Easy to park and we stayed on a day there weren't many other rooms occupied, so it was very quiet. The owner is very jovial and has two very friendly dogs and a cat to play with (watch out for them when driving through the property).

Travelling in the middle of summer, the room was a bit hot, but that was about all that wasn't optimal about the place.

Although a quick one night stay. It was a pleasant stay.

Soft bed and clean feel in the sheets and pillows. This one bedroom unit was tidy and pleasant looking.

An fyi, so we borrowed the free baby port-a-cot. The port-a-cot had good breathable sides and a good mattress and beddings, but it was only for the size of the mattress. There was a little gap at the end of the mattress. Our 6mth old rolled into the gap, fortunately she is big enough for it not to be a problem. But generally thinking a proper fitting mattress would be good.

Location was grest close to towm, shopping centres ie Woolworths, Resturants town basin lovely little balcony off each room..

Parking wasnt great, driveway was very narrow, we had a ford ranger not ideal to park on site..as we ended up blocking driveway Dbl bed in our room was terrible had a bad roll together, paid extra to have a spa bath and it was dirty around the jets, took ages to fill up n when we did, realised the plug was broken and the water leaked out.. strange to have windows open from the toilet but ppl walking oass can oprn it and look in.. not sure how i feel about that.

Convienient to town but spa bath didnt work

It was spacious, car park provided, good amount of milk, comfy bed

We booked this place because it had a spa bath, however the spa bath was really old and stained and sadly once filled the jets didn't work. The heat pump was set to 20 and unable to turn up and it was a very cold night, no heating provided in the bedroom, it was cold.

Great location, really large spaces didn't feel cramped, felt private as deck overlooked large trees. Very homley feel, ideal for families, fridge was larger than usual for motel with separate freezer space. Very comfortable beds and bedding. Air con was awesome and easy to use. We felt well looked after by the manager. Highly recommend.

There was no dishwasher however this didn't bother us. The water pressure in the shower and bath was low but still lovelier bigger space than other motels.

Great staff. These guys care about their motor lodge. They pay attention to the details. Super clean. Pretty full of all the stuff you need. Very friendly and helpful. One of the best motor lodges I have stayed in at this price.

Disappointing and expensive. Well placed to reach central Whangārei and the wonderful Hundertwasser

Comfortable bed and pillows

Very noisy, lots of traffic noise, could do with double glazing to rectify this. Very expensive for the budget style accomodation. Big black beetle in the room and one on the table! $189 for the night, not what it was advertised as when we booked it!

The spa bath was our all time fave. Perfect after a long drive. Our room was right on the end so it worked out nicely for us. The room itself was so nice and spacious, comfy beds and overall a place my family and I would love to come back too.

Spotlessly clean. Comfy King sized bed and SmartTV with app access to your own Prime and Netflix. Spacious well laid out rooms.

Only 2 x tiny sachets of 2 in 1 shampoo, one toilet roll, watered down dishwashing liquid. One pillow each on the bed. Dated decor with fake plastic flowers. Leaking kitchen tap. Just felt like the owner was incredibly cheap in these areas in sharp contrast to the good points about this motel.

First impressions where that the reception staff could not have been more courteous and friendly. Helpful and just nice people. They whole establishment was wonderfully clean and well presented and the room was exceptionally well stocked with everything we needed. A +++ is all I can say.

Great staff, very uncomfortable and off putting accommodation

The staff at reception were lovely and location great. The layout of the room was great. If the scaffolding wasn't smothering the site it would be very visually appealing, hence our choice of booking on booking.com - our purpose of staying was due to a hospital procedure the following day and there are multiple other accommodation options closer to the hospital but the Pembrooke motor lodge looked cute and inviting which was why we actually chose this property over the others. We were considering upgrading the room prior to our arrival but sadly to say, I'm glad we didn't do this as we were very underwhelmed by the time of departure.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable with very bad roll-together, so much so that our sleep was interrupted right throughout the night which was unfortunate as the reason for our stay was due to having a 5am wake up for a hospital procedure. The shower tap handle was badly broken and very sharp making it difficult to turn on and off. An elderly person with thin/soft skin would likely cut thier hand. The toilet was difficult to use as the flush button would constantly get stuck which was annoying but neither here nor there i guess. The pillows were quite thin and the one on the spare bed was wet and the wall behind was wet too. We noticed the toilet in the early evening of our stay but it was no major really so we didn't mention anything to anyone. Unfortunately we didn't notice the bed until later that evening, around 9.30pm and didn't want to bother the staff at that time as the office was closed and it was getting late. Throughout the night we both had terrible sleeps unfortunately and didn't find the wet pillow or wall until about 1am and the shower handle wasn't noticed until the morning we we're leaving. These issues, coupled with the eyesore of scaffolding absolutely everywhere just didn't justify the nightly rate of $178.25 per night. I feel that the scaffolding should have been something that was mentioned at stage of booking, not something that you are surprisingly greeted with on arrival as although it's a part of life, the price we booked at didn't reflect this at all. If it was made aware to guests at the time of booking then we would be aware of this when considering the nightly rate. Unfortunately, with all of the above issues and concerns adding up one on top of the other, we were so disappointed with our choice of accommodation as it left us very tired, sore, annoyed and all round underwhelmed with what we got for what we paid.
