We loved the experience. Everything was really convenient- from the shuttle service from the station and back, then to the Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park. The food was likewise awesome. The rooms were really spacious. They were also very accommodating to my request to store my breast milk in their freezer.
I dont have any bad experience with our stay. Our stay was truly awesome. Kudos to the hotel.

Fantastic location, especially for people who wish to visit and stamp the public onsens. The private outdoor onsen room was excellent with good amenities, on a clear night you can see many stars.
The hotel is an enigma. The premium private onsen room was really high quality. However, basic tatami room much less so, and clearly of much lower value than the price difference indicated. For the dining the dishes were generous but a bit on the salty side. If you book probably would recommend the premium rooms for a better overall value.

This might be the most incredible hotel we’re ever stayed at. The staff were stunningly attentive, helpful, polite, and hospitable. The facilities—reception, elevator, dining rooms, guest room, private Onsen—were stunning. The location was amazing. The yukata, the slippers, the music. Every detail was stunning.

Good food experience. Enjoyed a range of traditional dishes.
So overpriced, beyond reasonable expectations. The tourist industry here in old town Shibu Onsen has had a huge impact on the cost of reasonable accommodation in general. Perhaps don’t book earlier and wait for the accomodation to come back down the week before heading here.
