Room was a good size and location was great

Shower was really bad. Water pressure was appalling and struggled to shower both days.

The view of the water meadows from our hotel room would be hard to beat - beautiful

We felt the food was rather ordinary and overpriced. There was a lack of fresh fruit at breakfast and the toaster seemed to malfunction which was frustrating. We've known better breakfasts!

Its still the best hotel in the town but it is tired and worn and over priced for the standard

Location was good.

The floors creak with every step. If you are roomed in the original part of the mill, there are a lot of stairs and people going up and down, and in and out, can't help but make a lot of noise.

Not much, room could have been cleaner, shower had quite alot of limescale and basin had crack in it and toilet had what looked like urine in it but could have possibly been a cleaning product, but still would to return to hotel as only minor points.

the parking was good and plenty of it as always, the staff lovely as always.

The noise from inside and outside the hotel. The lack of sleep. The noise of the toilets when flushed. The lack of pressure for a good shower. The noise the taps made when being used.

Room was very good. Lovely view over the river. Warm, nicely furnished, spacious, clean, nicely decorated. Breakfast was good but the sausage and bacon was not of the excellent or superb standard. It was a very good breakfast. The fish and chips were the best I have had for a long long time. Very good. Super location on river and wetlands

The bar was closed for refurbishment but the staff were very apologetic. The section of the bar next to the water wheel was still open, but the fire was not lit, which given the freezing conditions and the bar being closed, was a disappointing lack of effort. The fire should have been lit to make the room more cozy and inviting and to compensate for the actual bar area been cut off.

A great place to stay for a short break, this hotel has plenty of character and comfort.

We stayed here in freezing weather, it was cosy and welcoming. The location was excellent, within easy walking distance of the town centre, and next to the Meadows, which provide easy walks. Our room was well equipped and replenished daily. There was a good choice at breakfast and the breakfast waitress was cheerful and efficient.

Nice hotel, shame dinner experience spoiled the stay

comfortable bed, and it was quiet

The food at dinner was disappointing. I had to order crisps after because the portion was so small, despite being expensive, I was still hungry. No veg with the main, just two slices of liver some, bacon and a dollop of potatoes. More like a starter. You'd expect veg with a £20 plus main course

Well located acceptable rooms that are rather pricey for what you get.

Excellent location next to water meadows and near the heart of Sudbury. Staff were very pleasant and building is proud of its history.

Room was very small - exactly as pictured but they did not prepare me for quite how small. Also extremely stuffy. With the fan on and window open in early November, the room was still very warm after going out all evening. My shower ran lukewarm on my first morning, as did another guest’s (we both made the same comment to the desk) but that was addressed by their team for the next day.

Rooms, very nice and were functional with everything straightforward to use particularly the shower.

Some of the restrictions with ordering food (no baguettes after a certain time) seems unnecessary.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Excellent location. Our evening meal was very enjoyable though the restaurant is rather soulless.

A really interesting building and lovely location. So this should be a fantastic hotel. But unfortunately it’s just ok. Rooms and corridors are all a bit tired. The buffet breakfast was particularly disappointing. Tired scrambled eggs etc. and no fresh fruit to be seen and coffee from an urn.

Bed was so comfortable - bedroom on the small side but very well done up - gorgeous views over the fields and river, breakfast was brilliant and staff were super friendly. Restaurant design and dinner was great too.
