Night above a cafe. Room size OK and Sudbury very pretty

It is a cafe not a pub (I should have read the info better). Cafe shut in evening. No breakfast available so ignore reviews from 2025 which mention breakfast - there is none!

Poor experience. Not told about no parking and no food to eat.

There was no cooked meal provided or no bar food.

Very small bedroom and the mattress was uncomfortable. When we arrived, the bar was closed. No parking facilities.

Lovely little hotel complete with cafe ( and resident cute dog) close to everything in Sudbury.

Traditional British Bar/ Restaurant/ Hotel, very nice People

This is exactly what I was looking for. Local, very British, very traditional but modern styled and family driven business. Very nice location, very nice restaurated, nice outside and inside, Bar, Restaurant. Excellent Breakfast, unfortunatelly I was late so couldn't take draft Guinnes at night;

The lovely owner was very welcoming and without asking, offered to swap my bedroom to one with slightly more head room.

Location perfect for Sudbury Town centre. Old pub that’s been converted into cafe with accommodation above. Rooms basic but clean and well presented. Bed very comfortable. Separate entrance allowing you to come and go as you please. Staff all seemed very friendly and welcoming.

Even after 10 days in total- it's still not long enough.

What I liked? Everything. But Tracy the owner... what an amazing person: so kind and thoughtful. She went out of her way to make me feel at home and made it easier to continue my work while travelling. And the other staff are wonderful; and the cook is excellent. It is a dog friendly place and they have the cutest little dog Pickle. The rooms are lovely and very clean. The teabags are the best ever.

Charming place with great food and lovely garden.

We love it, I think its the fourth time I have stayed there. There is something about the place, its very old with original beams so dont forget to duck but so charming !! Lovely cafe/bar downstairs excellent breakfast, try the bacon, sausage, egg and cheese toastie, superb !!! Great relaxing in the garden with a coffee in the morning. Definitely will be returning.

Enjoyable stay in a great location

Great location, close to nearby shops to get supplies and the centre. The room was big enough, with all the facilities needed. Having the double windows helped block out most of the sound from the road and didn't disturb our sleep.

The only very small thing that I didn't like regarding the room was that the toilet flush sometimes jammed. To fix it, it just needed lifting the lid a bit to reset it. That didn't dettact from the enjoyment of our stay though, which we were generally very happy about!

The room is a bit small but perfectly functional. The only thing I’d have liked was some shower gel I didn’t bring any assuming it would be supplied. The was a small round bar of soap we used that but not great.

The room had a comfortable bed and nice linen. The room was clean and had a lovely shower. The location of the hotel was convenient for the town centre.

There was no breakfast available before 0900. For us his was rather inconvenient. The room overlooks the main road and was therefore rather noisy.

The owner were lovely,, really welcoming,, both of them were present throughout the stay, they have a cafe downstairs, with really yummy looking breakfasts, felt valued by them, Sudbury's a beautiful town, with reliable brands like savers& Greggs, boutiques, the town has a lovely market

The noise of the town, it seems too populated with people and the traffic, it starts from 6.30am, the trains are constantly packed when commuting, wouldn't be a place to move to, because after a few days, theres nothing else here, it would of been handy for the windows to have some nets on& for the restaurant to be open through evening time

Location. Street parking good. Very quaint old building.

Very small “double” bed. Henry hoover left lying in the corridor overnight: trip hazard. Access very tricky for anyone with mobility challenges. Very low beam halfway across our tiny bedroom; head banging hazard!

Lovely old building, perfectly located, but needs some tlc to make it more comfortable.

I know the property well from when it was a pub. Nice old world charm.

The en suite in my room had a macerator which switched-on constantly regardless of whether the toilet had been used. It was also a bit smelly in the en suite so I had to keep the door closed. The shower tray also almost overflowed so suggest checking the drainage.

This is our third stay. As before the venue and room entirely met our needs and expectations. The building is old and the floor the room is uneven in places, however the accommodation is entirely adequate. in

The bathroom is separate to the bedroom, however the toilet flush is noisy.

Fine for one night.

Good location in town. One of the few places that can offer just one nights accommodation. The owner was quick to respond to questions. Breakfast, paid for separately was good.

The room wasn’t great and needed a few things fixing including the windows that we couldn’t open.

Very quirky

Noisy with traffic noise. Secondary glazing didn’t fit properly. Green light shining in room meant room wasn’t dark. Ended up checking into another hotel so we could get a nights sleep

Perfect for the couple of days we needed. Parking easy, comfortable and right there near the center of town.

Location excellent, Staff super, comfortable beds, good hot instant shower, tea and coffee in room.

No complaints, windows in room could do with a bit of renovation.
