Lovely room, wonderful view, good breakfast.

The property was lovely, very clean and beautifully decorated. Our room was great with a view over the garden and countryside. The beds were very comfortable and the shower large with plenty of shower gel/shampoo, etc. Had a big breakfast with lots of choice.

Just fantastic, we will be going back .

The Full English Breakfast was very nice, just right, even down to the fantastic tea cups. Very good location just off the road with ample parking, our room was very very nice and not to hot in the very hot heat wave. Handy for Long Melford, Lavenham, Sudbury, Finchingfield and close to Bury St Edmunds and Colchester .

Possibly may have been handy to have a grab rail just inside the lovely big shower.

Claire and her husband are lovely people who made us welcome. Couldn't fault the accommodation. Breakfast was excellent and the best English breakfast the best I have ever had. Location was perfect for visiting the special places in the area. Had a great time.

I would highly recommend Newmans Lodge.

My family and I found the accommodation very comfortable and Claire provided a very warm welcome into her lovely home. The breakfast and was very nice and there was a good variety of things to choose from. Newmans Lodge is the perfect location for visiting Lavenham, bury St Edmunds, Kentwell hall, Melford hall and Ickworth house.

Overall this accommodation is tired, overpriced! and needs attention before taking bookings.

Location worked for us but it was a fast road outside, to get out. Beds were comfortable and bed linen seemed clean. Fresh eggs were nice from the hens. Dogs were lovely but you were not allowed to speak to them really, if you did they seemed to get told off. They were friendly and just wanted to say hello.

Breakfast was disappointing and poor quality, no beans, cheap produce and orange juice. Atmosphere tense with the hostess it seemed especially telling her dogs off(naughty collar?). Wasn’t told the heating was coming on when we arrived or shown the towel rail to put on, rooms and bathroom grumpy, damp and cold. The window cills were disgusting, they had not had a clean from mould and dead flies, hence smelt. Toilet didn’t work properly, water pressure low in bathroom sink all really had not be checked over before taking our booking. Complimentary toiletries were half used cheap Tesco basics.

The premises has a fine location but more care is needed to maintain standards.

The breakfast was fine. Cooked to individual order

The heating came on far too late and finished far too early. On our second night, the lights failed and we were left with just two bedside lights that were plugged into the power sockets. The electricity for the lights suddenly and unexpectedly returned at five AM.

Lovely location. The garden was beautiful. Our hosts were friendly and attentive. A large, bright room overlooking the gardens, very comfortable beds ensuring a sound nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious, all in all a great stay, Thankyou

Good overnight stay, but would prefer not to have to drive to get an evening meal.

No heating on in the evening. A hairy exit from drive straight on to a busy fast road. The write up mentioned dinner, but when we got there we found that evening meals were not offered. Once again booking,com did not pass on my genius discount. The price offered to me had increased when I reached the payment page on the web site.. this is the second time this month that this has happened.

Enjoyable stay would definitely stay there again if in area.

Breakfast choice was varied , presented well and cooked well. Had our own key to get in late at night after a dinner dance. Couple were friendly but professional. Home from home. Would definitely stay there again.

Signage was too small to see from the busy road, had to turn round and go back. Wouldn’t be a problem on further visits as you know where it is. Difficult to spot when driving on your own.

A very comfortable break in our journey

Very pleasant host, rooms were comfortable and clean with fresh water, tea/coffee, kettle etc provided. We all slept well and were treated with an excellent breakfast in the morning. A bonus was the artwork, some by our host, and the fabulous views.

This property had the wow factor. There was plenty of parking. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming

The location was beautiful but a little difficult to find on a road without numbers. I found it in the fourth pass as the traffic would not let me drive slowly and the black sign did not stand out against the hedge.

The cooked breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented but on a four night stay I would have liked other options such as fresh fruit and yoghurt

A lovely quiet location occasionally challenged by helicopters from nearby Wattisham airbase.

The meals were excellent. We had an additional evening meal. Claire's Cordon Bleu cooking was fully evidenced. Alpheton itself is very small and we travelled a few miles one evening to eat at The Manger in Bradfield Combust and thought it probably the best pub restaurant we have ever visited. Stay enlivened by Claire's dogs and chickens which meant a range of fresh egg dishes.

Maybe it was a hangover from Covid or her three tennis matches in four days but Claire seemed not to have the time to chat that many of our previous hosts have. Not sure if that should actually count as a criticism.
