Really comfy beds, spotlessly clean and lovely staff.
Not being able to order tea/coffee to the table at breakfast. There was always a queue for the coffee machines and at one point they needed a refill, which meant your buffet went cold while waiting. A small issue and I understand that staff are very stretched in the mornings, but being able to order hot drinks to the table would have improved the breakfast experience considerably.

This hotel was just off the busy Grassmarket area. The 2x rooms (twins) were large , all very clean , beds were very comfortable, tea and coffee replenished each day as well as beds made. There was a fridge and safe , bathroom had enough towels and good to see refillable soap and shampoo dispensers rather than those small plastic bottles. A lovely Large shower which thankfully had an adjustable head.
Used the bar one night, very comfortable with friendly staff . Water available in reception with comfortable sofas used whilst we waited for a taxi going home.
Breakfast had a good choice of items hot and cold with extras on the menu to accommodate dietary requests.
All staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.
The room was extremely warm the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working correctly in either room unfortunately none of us complained .
We only had breakfast once but it was nothing special despite the choice.
There was only one mirror in the bedroom area (on wardrobe door), so could not sit down to dry hair / makeup etc as no mirror on the desk/dressing table.

Location was perfect for our stay. Room was small but suited our needs. Breakfast was very good and a large buffet selection. 12 noon check out was excellent too.
Having to leave.

Great location, got a great view of the castle with the room
The lifts were a bit slow at times

Wonderful, friendly, efficient staff. Great breakfast selection. Comfy sofas in reception. Nice restaurant and bar. Delicious welcome cookie! Comfy room.
A walk in shower would have been preferable as the bath was high to climb into for a shower. The location was suitable for access to tourist spots etc but it was not a nice area/street, especially later at night when locals had had a few drinks. A shame as it is a lovely hotel.

Only two cups when four people were staying in a room and no mirror on dressing table.

Great location, welcoming and helpful staff, available round the clock, cosy comfy spacious room, good breakfast options, many near by restaurants and cafe's, Edinburgh Hop on Hop off stop near by, tram station hardly 8 mins walk. So near all major attractions, walk to Royal Mile, Grassmarket, Edinburgh Castle. Would recommend and stay here again !!
Nothing. Worked well for me !

Location is great and staff are very friendly and helpful
It needs a huge refurb compared to other doubletrees. Thought it’d be a safe option but unfortunately not. The elevator was out, rooms are shabby with cracked tiles and worn furniture. The heating is temperamental (not great for Edinburgh in January). They don’t even provide a water glass for your room so if you need to take medication, be warned you’ll be doing it using a dirty coffee cup.

Good location, nice building
Property was ok, would have been nice to be able to have a nicer view than the back of the front end of the building. Would expect a mirror in front of the desk, tv oddly positioned on the wall.

Great location. I could see Edinburgh Castle from my room window! Walking distance to all the attractions! About 8 mins away from Grassmarket, plenty of restaurants and pubs and little shops full of local goodies.

The location is perfect. Just a few minutes walk to the royal mile and princes street. Breakfast is good and staff is friendly.
The room was somewhat smelly and not clean. Like the smell of moist and if someone smoked a lot. It felt off. Stains all over the walls, bathroom was due for an overhaul and not really clean. The tv was located at the end of the bed. A massive tv but the signal quality was bad. Like if you’re watching low resolution movies.

For the price for the room which is no bigger than an average Premier Inn we did not think it was value for money. The over bath shower was poor in power you needed to have to stand right underneath it to get water the beds are comfortable. OK you had a view of the castle but on reflection it's not a great view but it is a view.
In the bar area I did not like the fact that even though I went to the bar to order and collect drinks I was charged service charge I did challenge it but was told that it is standard!! We like the Hilton brand and we are using them again in March 2025 to stay at The Caledonian.

The size of the room. The size of the bathroom
And the way the toilet was positioned in the bathroom. It was so close to the wall and very awkward to use the toilet.

First I like the hotel name “by Hilton”, pictures and promotions are looking good. In reality it’s disappointing, didn’t meet my expectations. The bed are clean and comfy.
Reception area is not accessible friendly for disabled people. Hallway are dark, Toilet smells very unpleasant. The colour scheme is dark and looking dirty.

Great location! Staff were nice apart from the trainee when we left. He was a little off but overall decent
The room was noisy. The floor boards are loose which means you hear everyone around you move around. The bed squeaks if you make any movement and the toilet was broke and kept running.

Perfect location for the show at usher hall. Reception staff were exceptionally good and helpful.
The room was on the small side for the price but adequate enough.

We had a deluxe double with castle view. The room was reasonably spacious and the view impressive. Shower was easy to operate and of good heat and flow, with a double curtain. Big, fluffy towels but only one hook and no hooks in the room's lobby. Dressing gowns that fit a rounder figure. Heating worked and lighting fine. Biscuits, milk etc were diligently replaced. Staff were professional and efficient. Breakfast 80/100 on our Sans Souci scale (where breakfast at Hotel Sans Souci Wien is 100/100) - highlights included friendly staff, haggis, and better coffee than in many places. Not over-busy when we were there so can't say if welcome and responsiveness would suffer under pressure, but no sign that it might. Overall, a very positive experience and would return.
Nothing major

The beds were very comfortable & staff were helpful & friendly. Breakfast was tasty.
The bathroom in room 128 was disgusting- black mould in the shower grout and floor tiles. The sink was clearly blocked as it drained away very slowly- I rang down to reception about the plug sticking too.
For £322, it was far from good enough.

We had a very early arrival and the staff did their very best to get us checked into our rooms as soon as possible, as we were all very tired from the long journey there.
The hotel is centrally located, within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and many local attractions. We found our stay very comfortable, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout. The breakfast buffet was excellent, featuring a traditional Scottish breakfast along with a nice variety of pastries, fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, and breads. They also had a few "made-to-order items" off a menu, like omelets, eggs Benedict, pancakes, fried eggs, etc.
While the rooms were a bit dated, with creaky flooring, they were clean, cozy, and offered a wonderful view of Edinburgh Castle. The housekeeping staff were especially kind and accommodating. We also appreciated the small touches like the tea kettle, bottled water, and cookies, which made for a perfect afternoon warm-up after a day of exploring.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and would gladly recommend this hotel to others.
While we were there, Storm AMY blew into Scotland, and many attractions and stores were closed or closing early. We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant that evening and were told they could not accommodate us as they didn't have enough staff to help everyone wanting to eat there, so we had to bundle up, grab our rain gear, and go out to try and find something to eat. Unfortunately for us, there wasn't much else to do.

The location is away from the busy tourist areas, but very close to the Timberbush Tours meeting point, surrounded by a quiet and comfortable environment. Upon check-in, we were warmly welcomed with freshly baked cookies, and the staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and professional, offering helpful advice.
There was nothing to be dissatisfied about.
