The only thing about the rooms was on a night when you came back from having a meal it was bad lighting we had to use the torch on our phones to see were we we’re going also the leaves of the trees were all over the pathway up the steps going to our room making it bad to walk very slippery

It was okay. But wouldn’t choose to stay there again

The heating in the room was on all night. Couldn’t turn it off. We had to keep the windows open all night to let the heat out. There was water running from somewhere, we the windows opened up onto the flat roof, not sure of it was a leaking gutter, overflow from the boiler or something but it kept us up all night. Pillows were uncomfortable, lumpy

Beautiful location and great character

The hotel itself has plenty of charm, great traditional character, a superb location near the pier, and a car park that makes life easy. It’s within walking distance of Ambleside and close to bus links, which is very convenient. The food was nice, and breakfast was very good (though adding a bit of cheese would have been great).

The younger staff at the restaurant seemed somehow uninterested, and asking for the table to be cleared or to place an order sometimes felt like requesting a personal favor rather than a normal part of service.

Needed a few hooks to hang wet coats. Nowhere to put wet walking things - we put boots on plastic bags to keep the floor clean/dry.

Breakfast was great, lots of choice, staff were friendly, room was clean and surprisingly nice for a dog friendly room.

The smart tv, I’m not sure if it was due to connection strength issues, but we weren’t able to use any apps on the tv, which you can deal with, if the tv had channels, which unfortunately it had around 10 channels you could actually watch, it defeats the purpose of having a tv in the room. Also the towel radiator did not work

Room was an attic room so small and hot, only a small window to open, no opening window in bathroom. Up 2 flights of stairs to room. Followed sign for reception only to find it is at the end of the bar, no signage Breakfast chaotic, no one taking room numbers, telling you what to do , people everywhere. Not a relaxing breakfast experience. Bathroom tiles uneven with dirty grouting, bit out of bath, paint chipped on door, paint chipped in cupboard door,.dripping toilet cistern 24 hours a day. Wouldn't say it was worth money we paid Breakfast buffet not very warm, if you wanted to order scrambled eggs etc you had to do that at the bar. Booked to stay at the inn then got sent over the road to rooms,

Joe did an outstanding job going beyond looking for a better room to cater to my elderly mother’s needs. He was very please and professional and He will go along way in life with those qualities. The breakfast was outstanding as was the lady who had a smile and chat each morning while serving .

the room very small out side door didn't fit well draft came in all round door toilet door didn't shut properly shame toilet roll holder was so close to toilet made it hard to sit on seat could see it had been broken off at some time refitted old holes could be seen was not told when arrive to go to pub across road to book in and collect key no sign in reception to tell you that had to ask a gest what we had to do then told the room was in the main building but after walking round hotel unable to find room in hotel went out side and found it around the corner in the court yard it seamed the staff where to busy especially in the bar were you booked in and ordered evening meal

I liked the location. Close enough to walk into Ambleside

I didn’t like the fact that you increased the price because there was a swimming event on, and that I only received a £10 reduction for single usage. I was uncomfortable with the positioning on the front and I was disturbed by passing people and traffic.

Could have been better

Brilliant location. Right next to the lake with a beautiful party vibe to the place. Great location for families to enjoy. Great service. The breakfast was quite nice with a decent spread.

Couldn't locate the hotel reception. We came in after a really long drive and had to walk around to figure out how to check in. Maybe it was written somewhere, maybe it wasnt- The rooms were just about average. Definitely not value for money. With stained upholstery and uncleaned cobwebs. For a family room, it was very small.

The location was great as the Inn is right by the lake, with direct access to the water. The pub garden was great with lots of seating outside. The room was basic but clean with small bathroom, but good shower.

The breakfast buffet was basic and not very appetising, it could be set up in a better way. Lots of waiting around and when busy it was difficult to get through. The staff did not clean tables so there was a lot of dirty crockery around which was not very pleasant. For the price of the room with breakfast this was not good value for money. There was no oat milk and no vegetarian sausages. The other thing was checking in, when we arrived all staff very busy at the bar and it took a while for the to check us in.

The location of the bar area is good on the waterfront of lake Windermere.

Check in was at the hotel pub area - and we were pointed to hotel rooms over the road behind the pub. The view from our window was of a main road. We booked the cosy room but the room was not only very small but also smelled musty, the rooms were not sound insulated so we could hear people coming and going during the night. The shower was tiny which made it difficult to wash properly. Not suitable for a hotel.

It’s a great location but the staff weren’t great. It felt like it was managed by kids and the prices they charge you’d expect better service. It wasn’t very clean at all, the carpet in the room had stains on it, sofa bed was ripped , tabled in the pub had food on from the night before and bar had dirty glasses when we went down for breakfast. The staff weren’t attentive at all. When we checked in I asked if the guy was ok and he replied “ ask me when I finish and leave this hell hole” then asjed for £864 for our stay”. When checking out I handed the key in and the lady didn’t even look up to say thank you have a safe journey. All these things make customers return. Unfortunately we won’t be. Just paid for view of the lake in my opinion.

We got the most beautiful attic room. Perfect location tight by the river. Friendly staff. Excellent clean rooms with comfortable beds and clean towels.
