Great location, within walking distance to most things and close to public transport links. Quiet street in elegant part of town. The building is full of history and character. Our room was modern and very well cared for.
The over the bath shower in room 14 does not accommodate anyone over 5ft 8 because of the sloping roof. The room is a long way from the main parts of the hotel and the last section has steps where you have to be able to carry your luggage.

The hotel is located in a convenient location for walking to Edinburgh Castle, shopping, dining and other attractions. We stayed in a bottom floor room. It was comfortable, but we were curious to try the upper-level rooms. The elevator was a definite advantage with luggage. It had a cozy Scottish feel in the living room area.

The staff were all very helpful and the bed was comfortable. The dinner I attended during my stay was excellent in terms of both food and service.
The first room I was shown only had one small, high, sealed window and was claustrophobic to the point of being unacceptable. I was moved to a slightly better room which at least had a window I could open, but with an exciting view of multiple A/C units! At more than £200 per night I expected much better.
