It's alright if you have low expectations about the room and want to be close to the city center.

It was clean and we had all we needed. Close to the city center and nice neighborhood.

The first night we arrived, the toilet ran over. It took quite a while before this was solved. Also, the phone (to call the receptionist) and the coffee machine didn't work. Bad luck, I guess. They did try to solve all our problems ASAP tho (not until the next day, unfortunately). At the end, it was okay.

The perfect hotel!

The location is perfect: it is near all the major attractions such as the popular bars and restaurants. They also kept our luggage secured as we arrived early. Thank you! We will definitely be back again!

A beautiful and atmospheric hotel with real character, let down at times by inconsistent service, but redeemed by though

The building itself is beautiful, full of character, history, and traditional Scottish charm. Staying there genuinely felt special and very “Edinburgh.” • The interiors are elegant and atmospheric, with lovely period details that give the hotel a warm, classic feel. • Our room was clean, comfortable, and well presented, making it easy to relax after long days exploring the city. • The location is excellent — central but quiet — allowing easy access to the city while still feeling calm and tucked away.

- Our arrival late at night after a very long journey was disappointing. We struggled with our luggage at the entrance and did not feel particularly welcomed or assisted by the staff member on duty. - There were some service inconsistencies during our stay that did not meet expectations for a hotel of this standard. - Breakfast on the first morning did not reflect the overall quality or price point of the property, and this was ultimately acknowledged by management. - Despite some issues during our stay, the reception manager was professional, kind, and proactive in resolving matters, which we appreciated.

Very traditional, high class Edinburgh hotel. Felt like sleeping in a landmark.

I was awoken at 5:30am by 5 wheelie bins being dragged up stone stairs right outside my window (Room 25). Do not accept that room on a Thursday night 🥲. The receptionist didn’t have much to say when I told them in the morning which was also disappointing.

An expensive stay for what I received.

The location was excellent.

I had booked a lovely large room however the location was among the service areas with doors being shut all the time. Reception were happy to move me and I did the next two nights. The room was half the size and bathroom very small. So basically a downgrade but it was noise free. Did not sleep though as had the two beds put together which I always try and avoid when booking. This was the most expensive stay I had in 6weeks in UK with breakfast being a disappointment compared to other stays.

We really enjoyed the locationand loved

We loved our two-night stay and the warm, welcoming ambience of the Royal Scot Hotel. We stayed in one of the executive rooms, which was spacious, comfortable, and spotless, with great attention to detail. The location is excellent. perfect for exploring Edinburgh. We also had dinner in the restaurant, and it was superb.

I was put into a basement annexe. The shower room was very chilly and smelled of damp in spite of beautiful modern fittings, and cleanliness. The drawers needed a wipe inside and the clock altering. I had understood from Booking.com that breakfast was included but apparently not.

Lovely weekend in Edinburgh

Room was great, comfy bed, Molton Brown products in Bathroom, nice coffee maker

All of the staff in the daytime were lovely and really helpful. However, we were asked to leave our key a reception when going out and when returning to the hotel in the early hours after a night out,the male who was on overnight was not at all friendly and seemed quite angry that we had disturbed him, despite our apologies!!

Grand old hotel in New Town

Very kind receptionist named Tegan welcomed us. Hotel location in Edinburgh is very convenient.

It was very difficult to reach the hotel about a delay in our arrival due to a tropical storm that cancelled many railway and bus routes on our way to Edinburgh. Very challenging to reach this hotel by phone.

This was a good location to walk to everything in downtown Edinburgh.

Room was not part of main hotel entrance. It had an outside entrance for 4 different rooms. After the first day i decided this was ok and it worked out well.

Great location, well maintained, full of history, had everything you need.

Handing the key in every time you left the room for fire safety reasons was a pain as we had to go back into the main building (my partner is a chief fire officer and didn’t understand it - he said you don’t tend to go to reception to ask for keys in an emergency!). But a tiny point. It didn’t impact.

What a beautiful setting for a breakfast room! I’m jot a big breakfast person but saw all your great cooked dishes being served. Loved the stewed prunes! Disappointed in the scone…didn’t look like a scone. Front desk was exceptional…each shift!!!

We use Half & Half for coffee…milk seems like a downgrade.

Great place

Location is very good, 5min walk from the main street. Room was clean and comfortable with great curtains to block early sunrise. Bathroom was nice and clean with soft towels. The room had no airconditioning but I guess it is not always necessary.

Ultimate Scottish stay

Great hotel if you want the “Scottish” experience. Lovely historic property. Delicious breakfast served in an elegant dining room. Staff was top notch. Quiet neighborhood but only 15 minutes walk from main attractions.
