The Mayfair Hotel

My experience at the Mayfair Hotel Bournemouth: completely unacceptable My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend it under any circumstances. First of all, upon arrival I was required to pay a £50 security deposit, which was taken directly from my bank account. At no point during the booking process was this charge clearly mentioned, and I consider this a complete lack of transparency. Secondly, I witnessed a shocking situation at reception. A family with a young child had made and paid for their reservation, yet when they arrived they were told that no room was available for them. Even more disgraceful was the receptionist's attitude. She completely dismissed the issue and told them to contact the booking platform, as if the hotel had no responsibility whatsoever. A hotel should honour and confirm reservations once they have been accepted and paid for. Furthermore, when I explained that my booking included breakfast, I was informed that the breakfast service was closed for the week. There was also no bar or anywhere in the hotel to get a drink. Again, this was information that had not been communicated before my arrival. When I finally got to my room, the situation became even worse. The room was in a terrible condition, with visible leaks and constant noise from ventilation fans in the inner courtyard, making it very difficult to relax or sleep. To make matters worse, when I went to bed I discovered that the bed was completely worn out. The metal springs or frame were sticking into my back, making it almost impossible to get any sleep. Overall, this has been one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, even if the stay were free.

Basic room. Lots of stairs within. Exceptional staff. Limited bar. Great location.

Positives: Good sized room Helpful reception Clean room and clean bathroom Travel soap in the room Good sized car park with free parking Long check-in window Powerful shower Good value I would stay again What could improve: The window lock didn't work, so I couldnt leave the window open during heat wave- it's not a major issue, as I could open when there, but had to close at night or when out. The sound proofing dampened the sound, but I could hear the man above me who talked late into the night. The tv is small, and basic- if it had a netflix, or primeoption rhen customers could log into their own accounts to watch.

While the staff were very friendly, helpful, and did their best to assist during my stay, the hotel itself was disappointing for the price paid. The room showed clear signs of poor maintenance, with peeling paint, damaged walls, cracks, and areas that need repair and redecoration. The windows were very dirty, which made the room feel neglected and affected the overall appearance. There was no air conditioning or fan available, making the room uncomfortable at times, and no ironing board was provided. The bathroom facilities also need attention, as the shower attachment was loose and difficult to use properly. Overall, the hotel appears dated and would benefit from better maintenance and cleanliness throughout. The staff were the highlight of my stay and deserve credit for their professionalism and willingness to help. However, considering the condition of the room and facilities, I expected a much higher standard for the amount paid. The hotel needs significant improvements to provide better value for money
