The room that we were allocated was not what we expected. We believed from the website booking that we were staying in the middle of the village, instead of this we were outside of the wall in a much more modest setting. We were looking forward to the more opulent setting as a treat. The hosts were very good and our room was clean and comfortable, just not what we were expecting, which was disappointing as I feel that the website was misleading. We had been walking the Via Francigena and looking forward to a treat.

We truly enjoyed our stay in San Gimignano! We were a little worried about driving there, but GPS enabled us to easily find our checkin location, even though it was on an isolated road. Then they drove us into town to show us to our room and pointed out parking locations, etc. Great service!
Being a 500 year old building in a medieval city, there was no elevator. Luckily, our host was nice enough to carry our luggage up the stairs to our room, or that could have taken us a while. Going down was not a problem.

We checked in at main property. The owner led us directly to our apartment within the walled city. The apartment was a full, two bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen. By European standards, this was a very spacious apartment. What we loved best was the ease of walking out the door, exploring town when all of the day tourists were gone. We owned the city at night! We walked the wall, enjoyed dinner in the few open restaurants. November is low season and there were no crowds. The apartment had a well supplied kitchen. We bought groceries at COOP nearby and enjoyed leisurely breakfasts. The description of this property may sound like it includes breakfast. This property is fully independent. Parking for free was a 10 minute walk outside the city wall.
The mattresses were just OK. I wouldn't let that be a deterrent because there were so many fantastic features that make this property shine.

Location is great.
The beds were so hard we couldn’t sleep. Pillows were old and uncomfortable
Because many rooms are advertised on the site, I was unsure of correct location. We got lost trying to find the check-in area. The apartment itself was clean but very plain. Not what I expected for the price.
