The room size was good, and the bathroom size was also good. The room was clean and had all the basic amenities, including slippers and a hair dryer. Check-in and check-out were fast and easy, and the staff were friendly. The room deposit was refunded immediately, even though we paid by card. We received it the same hour we checked out.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Transport is nearby, and tons of amenities. Everything is within walking distance.

The service is really subpar, particularly the night staff who seemed untrained and unprofessional. When I arrived late at night, I had forgotten that my rooms were prepaid so when I was asked for my credit card, I didn't object. Shouldn't payment status be the first thing a check in staff should verify? In the end, the mistakenly taken pre-authorisation maxed out my card, causing a lot of inconveniences. Yes, a pre-authorisation is not a debit on a credit card but it still blocks out the amount on my card limit, holding it so I can't use that part of my credit. On another occasion, when I needed a wine bottle opener (no bottle opener in the room), housekeeping did not pick up the phone so I rang the front desk. The staff rudely asked why I needed a bottle opener and to go downstairs to the reception with my bottle. He handed me the opener without looking up from his computer. I opened my wine bottle at the reception and left. No words exchanged. I do not expect this sort of service from a Mercure Hotel group. The day staff, on the other hand, seem to know what they are doing and were much more professional and friendly.

We stayed for 5 nights, and the location was easy to shop and take transportation.

Our room wasn't ready even though in the system I placed my arrival time. There was a request made for this booking, and they did not follow through. The height of the showerhead was really low, and the metal part cut my finger while handling it in Room 102. You can tell that this building is old. The room could use more towel hooks because they have it placed under the sink, which is really low. So I had to hang my towel over the mirror. there's this awkwardly tall table, the mini bar just in the middle. The table under the tv was very awkwardly shaped. Just towards checking out, the man at the counter took so long to argue with other guests we almost missed our train

I believe this is the same comment for all french hotels. Their check-in time at 2:00 PM is very inconvenient specially that most flight land prior to 10:00 AM and we get to the hotel around noon. My experience is that most hotels in the US, some parts of Europe, North Africa and Middle-East have a check-in policy at 12:00 PM. I think they should align.

Average - good location but basic facilities and service; more like a three star.

The location was very convenient. There were plenty of shops and bakeries around and a sweet little market across the road.

The facilities are as basic as they come, more akin to a three star hotel. We had to request the shower gel bottle be filled up as it was empty on arrival and ask for an iron to be brought up. We were handed the iron and the board to take up to the room ourselves. Housekeeping would also enter the room whilst we were out, despite the ‘do not disturb’ sign being on the door. This made me feel much less secure.
