Clean & tidy hotel with a good bar/restaurant with great polite service.

The property is a nice classic old building modernised to a good standard without losing its character.

Visit to Barrow 31st Jan

Stayed in a family room (no.101). Accommodation was fantastic, really it should be called a suite with 2 completely separate bedrooms. Super comfy beds and pretty quiet (except when next door put the TV on full blast!). We ate there in the evening and had breakfast, food recommended.with great choice for vegetarians. Just have to mention that the staff work really hard and sometimes looked like they were rushed off their feet, they certainly earned their wages.

Great period hotel - brilliant breakfast!

Really surprising well restored listed building but with modern feeling sizeable rooms and good beds. The staff were really excellent and the check in smooth. The car parking was easy. One of the finest full english breakfasts I've had in a hotel in a very long time.

Bit of noise from the room next door but this is a hazard of period buildings. Window very hard to open and shut.

Comfortable Bed, perfect central location, & friendly staff.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was clean and spacious. But the best thing was the bed! It was so comfortable. The location of the hotel was perfect for us. We didn’t eat at the hotel, although the food looked and smelt gorgeous, but we did have a drink in the bar where they have a large selection and the price was reasonable too.

Not a dislike. But when booking 2 rooms for the same price they should be the same standard. Although the hotel did offer to move one of the couples to a larger room which they declined as we were only here for one night.

Comfortable and relaxing

The hotel itself is very old but very beautiful. Rooms were brilliant, even the cheapest room we booked was great with plenty of space and good facilities. Bathroom was fantastic, big and clean. Bed was so comfy, don't think I've ever slept in a bed that comfortable. It's a good location if you have a car and want to drive up to the lake district national park. There is also tesco and a few pubs just round the corner including weatherspoons. The only thing I will say (and maybe this was just our room) but there was a large gap under the door, about 3 fingers wide although I did feel very safe. Other than that the stay was perfect and I would definitely return. Good value for money.

Stayed here five times now. Always excellent. Location brilliant, great staff, good food with modern food options as well as old faves, very clean, interesting rooms everyone feels slightly different. Love staying heee. Absolutely great.

Rooms were great, very clean and welcoming. Staff in bar/restaurant were great! And we got a proper bath in our room, which hardly ever happens these days (plus a super shower as well).

Minor issues; mini-fridge in the room would have been nice, and of course the old gripe about too little milk in the little cartons left in the room for tea/coffee. Would have bought proper milk, but no mini-fridge to put it in!

Got unlucky with my room but lovely hotel

Lovely comfy beds with a huge bathroom. It was nice to have decaf options that’s not always on offer in hotels. The staff were lovely and there was no noise from outside despite it being on a main road.

The incredibly noisy radiator woke me up early which wasn’t ideal. I don’t think it’s always the case, it looked like there was a fault but I could’ve definitely done without it. There was also an issue with the bath not filling properly, it seemed like the seal on the plug just wasn’t sealing fully so it would only fill to a few inches.

Lovely hotel you could tell they were under staffed breakfast first morning was not impressed got lied to by the lady who was taking the orders said they didn't serve latte but minutes later saw people drinking latte she was just that run off her feet didn't have time to do it but if she had said give me 10 minutes and I will get you one that wouldn't of been a problem she kept telling people I'm on my own which is awful for her even one lady who was a customer there helped clear the tables more staff needed on a morning

The bar area was nice good atmosphere and George the young lad who served us drinks and also checked us out at the end of our stay was lovely really pleasant and friendly

Beautiful hotel, really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful building and interior, room was lovely and bathroom better than I expected.

I didn’t like the car park was across from the building, quite a busy road, plenty of traffic lights though, would be a problem if staying with lots of luggage/kids, but we did manage as 2 of us so one dropped off luggage and checked in and the other parked with permit.
