Great for where we needed to be! Secure car park with loads of spaces and friendly receptionists!
The walls in our room were quite thin, so we could hear next door clearly.

Staff are helpful and passionate to help clients
The hotel environment is clean and elegant, very classic.
The breakfast with discounted price and rich in supply.
No heating for the two nights stay in room, it’s very cold when staying in the room. I checked the switch of the heating of the room, it has a notice on the wall stating that in order to save energy, the heating will switch off automatically when sensing no one at the room, but will switch on again once it sensed the occupancy of people in the room. So I tolerate for no heating hoping that the heating will start again, but up till 3:00am overnight still no heating, and also the duvet of the bed is thin which can’t keep my warmth, so I can’t fall asleep for the 1st night.
Even more uncomfortable is while I am having my breakfast in the dining hall next morning, it’s chilly cold too. I just think maybe the 2nd night the heating system of the room and even the whole hotel has been sorted out when I return back from outside in the evening, so I go to my conference later on. However, when I come back in the evening and enter the room, no heating still ! I can’t stand for the chilly room temperature anymore, so I report this case to the receptionist and she arrange the room service to give me a mobile heater to solve this situation first. At last, I felt asleep for the 2nd night !
In the last day when I check out in the front desk, I tell the staff about the heating issue, her answer is normally the handyman is off during weekend, so no one repair the heating system during the weekend ?!
I am very disappointed about this, I got running nose starting from the first night…

Good location, comfy bed,
Very noisy so much so I had to move rooms in middle of night, very hot rooms and second room had no working shower.

Nice vibe. Very friendly and helpful lady on reception and helping at breakfast (she was Ukrainian)
Breakfast was excellent too - great choice of cold items and hot/ English breakfast
Nothing really. The room was a bit warm, but I should have asked to have it turned down.

Very comfortable, clean room. Very good cooked breakfast. Great location close to restaurants and pubs in Edgbaston Village and tram to city centre.
All the staff were professional and helpful.
Nothing.All good.

As I have a knee injury, a lift would have been preferred.

Good location.
Main door locked on arrival at 3.15pm. Stood outside for almost 10 minutes after knocking (no bell) and trying to ring.
On BOOKING.COM it states there is a restaurant serving dinner. This is NOT the case. Dinner is not served Friday to Sunday. I would not have booked this hotel had I known that.
Reception and bar areas are not clean (very dusty). Curtains hanging off poles. Chairs in the bar stained.
Rooms in the 'old' part of the hotel are just that 'old'. Don't be duped into paying for a 'superior' room as they are not!

The room was cold so a fan heater was provided which helped but was too noisy to sleep with on.
The sate of the hotel was very run down. The carpets around the hotel were dirty.
Food was poor quality, breakfast was the worst as it was all overcooked.

The hall and bar area
Our room was a mile away from the réception. It was old and in serious need of refurbishment. No heating in the bathroom (despite having a radiator there, the staff said they were all turned off in every room). It was very very cold. We decided to leave.

I brought colleagues over from France, rooms were poor and one had no heating. January and snowing outside, the guy slept in his coat after being told there were no more rooms available.

The receptionist was really nice and tried to sympathise with me and agreed to my issues
The whole of the hotel was without heating and being -4 was unbearable, they should not be open !!

Definitely could do with some USB points!

We enjoyed our stay. Staff lovely . Nice large room plenty of storage space . Great bar/lounge area . Warm ,cozy and welcoming . Very clean everywhere I had booked a twin room for my mum and I but the receptionist said the sofa bed would not be very comfortable for myself so he kindly put us in another room . Thank you .we were also a bit cold in the room and the staff gave us a fan heater. Have to say again all the staff were wonderful . All have a good Christmas
Just a couple of things to sort out. Our window would not close fully ,the toilet seat just needs adjusting and a bedside lamp flickered all the time . Get these things sorted and I have no complaints .

Good location, close to public transport.
Car park is paid, but hassle free.
Once moved to a new room, this is was more comfortable.
I suffered a fraud attempt which included my booking number, full name and date of booking.
Original room we were placed at had no heating and was very very cold. We were placed in a more comfortable room with functional heating.
As we went out the morning to explore the city, all our things were moved to the reception without our consent or an attempt of contact. We clearly left a “do not disturb” sign on the door and had another night left in our booking. As we made our way back to the hotel to get ready for a night out all our things were in the reception and had been dealt with. One souvenir we bought during our stay in Birmingham is missing. Needless to say I do not recommend the hotel and shall not be booking it on future visits to Birmingham.

Great room and large bath
Needs decorating and updating. Room smelled smokey when we walked in.

Beautiful old building. Great breakfast.
Parts were a little draughty but the room was lovely and warm & cosy.
5.0 / 10.0
Decent location and good breakfast, staff were very nice.
It’s an old building, and the heating is controlled by reception. We down to reception as soon as we had checked in and entered the room to ask for the heating off for our stay. Throughout the night when trying to sleep, the heating kept coming on again full blast and waking us up from being boiling hot. I had to ring reception four times total to turn the heating off, which is ridiculous and we were exhausted. There was also a dripping sound all night, and the radiator would randomly make a loud whirring noise. Then after the heating fiasco we were woken up by loud drilling and hammering before 9am.

The hotel as a building is quite nice, and was nicely decorated. The location was good for that price point. Staff try to help.
Daily loud work going up above room had a very negative impact.
Heating that likes to reset to cold and you have to ask staff to fix it on several occasions.
Room could do with some minor updates such as a bit more lighting to ensure plenty of light when making hot drinks!

Location
Heating in the room can NOT be controlled. Even the thermostat radiator valve had a tamper proof cover fitted 😳. So at night we were cold and in the morning when it was constantly on we were sweltering hot and couldn’t turn it off - we ended up having to open the window when raining and just let the rain come in.

Central location
Our room was badly maintained . Tv and phone didn’t work. Tea facilities poor .
At breakfast service was dreadful. We had to ask for glasses, bowls , butter , beans . Nothing was being topped up

The toilets were dirty, there was no heating and generally needed an update. It was pretty shabby. Not up to Best Western standards at all.

Great location very close to the Metro.
Breakfast was good, but you have to time it right to get fresh eggs.
No free parking if you booked with Booking.com.
Room was a good 2-3 minute walk away from the restaurant.
Toilet seat was loose and the bathroom was a little bit grubby and no extraction.

Really handy location with lots of parking.
10.0 / 10.0
I was offered a free upgrade to the enterprise suite. I was very appreciative. Staff were lovely and the room was very clean. Bath was a great surprise after a long day. Parking price stung a little, but booking direct removes this additional fee. WiFi was exceptional. Location also great to Uni. Edgbaston is a wonderful place with some great food spots. Some people said the decor was dated, but I felt that it was timeless and historical.
Just that the parking was £15. Hotel is actually 3* but on Booking.com it says 4*.
