Very nice room and lovely location .

Bed was very comfy and tea and coffee tray was a lovely surprise

Disappointed

It was cold and wasn’t clean . We found smoked cigarettes in the bedside table. Heating was working for few hours it was really cold

Good value for money. All positive except from the pillows

Every thing as expected and we were satisfied.

The pillows was a big problem. They were all too big and prevent us all from having a good night sleep and caused neck pain the next to days. Normally hotels have a big fat pillow and a smaller/thinner one so people can chose what they like. Not here, only option was 2 very thick pillows. This was our only complain but unfortunately it is a big one. Putting a normal size pillow should be fairly easy one would suspect

Good value and location.

Very good value. Good location for Cardiff City Centre.

The car park is very small so could not fit my car in and initially had to park in a side street. However, on checking into the room the owner offered for me to park in front of the building which was much appreciated. When we arrived we were given a room in the annex. The whole area was extremely cold as was the room initially but owner immediately put the heating on. It would have been nice if it had been put on prior to arrival.

Perfect for a night out in Cardiff.

On-site free parking was great, simple check-in, very friendly and helpful staff. The room was excellent - very clean, comfy bed, reliable wi-fi, tea and coffee provided, TV worked (every channel which is very rare!). Good value for money - I would highly recommend for a night out in Cardiff, it's around 20 minutes' walk to the city centre.

Clean room with free toiletries and coffee making facilities.

The hotel was well located for the venue we were visiting. Toiletries and towels provided. Also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Everything was clean.

The room was very hot and the radiator could not be turned off so we had to sleep with the window open and the room overlooked a busy road so was noisy. The bed was very hard and quite small.

Gem of a Property

Very welcoming and helpful with local taxi numbers and where to get a good breakfast. As I like several cups of tea or coffee per day, my milk sachets were kindly replenished when they ran out. Lovely little room, small but suited my needs, as there was an ensuite and plenty of coat hangers in the wardrobe. Complimentary tea, coffee, milk and sugar were very welcome. Everything was spotlessly clean. I was particularly glad about the free standing shower, instead of having to climb into a bathtub to shower.Comfortable bed and I slept soundly, even though my room looked onto a main road. The room had central heating and the thoughtful addition of an extra blanket, as well as an electric fan ( for hot weather ). The location was ideal for the Globe music venue, where I was heading in the night. I would definitely stay here again. I would have added photos had I known how to, as my single room was better than portrayed in the photo on the booking site. The ensuite was stunning. .

Unfortunately, no breakfast is offered currently. My room was up a couple of flights of stairs. So had I been staying more than one night, I may have struggled with my suitcase, as a mature woman, lone traveller.

The room was spotless and well decorated. It was warm and cosy.

An experience

The place was okay and the staff I encountered seemed friendly. It was a very wet day, so I was glad the heater was working.

There was a great deal of noise from other rooms and a bit of slamming of doors as my room was next to the shared bathroom (mine was en suite) - there was shouting in the middle of the night. The bed wasn't great for me, and there were a couple of stains on the bedsheet.

Bit noisy. Booking.com claims there is breakfast but there is none! And don't bring a car.

Shower was clean. Staff helpful, but only interacted for about 1 minute Place seemed clean and tidy A bell in the foyer was to call staff, if required but I did not need it Rack with brochures and places to visit in the foyer - useful Coffee and tea in rooms - not bad. A single biscuit was also provided, for free, and ended up being my breakfast - see later.

Booking.com claims breakfasts are served here and has photos of breakfasts, but these are not served here at the moment, so this is misleading and they should be taken down. Misrepresentation is illegal in the UK. Ironically, the breakfasts are listed under the "legal Information" section - I provide proof in the photos. Where can you complain to US company Booking.com, with a postal box office in Amsterdam?? Can't find that part either. Hmm. I didn't get much sleep because of the noise from the street - take ear plugs, or ask to be at the back on the hotel. No where nearby to get a nice breakfast. So, bring some sandwiches, unless you don't mind having just the free biscuit. Could hear everything in adjacent rooms. Nearly fell with my bags a couple of times - the stairs have steps with uneven heights. Be careful if you are unsteady on your feet and hold the handrail. The area is a bit run-down, especially at the rear. Access to the rear car park reveals how dodgy the area could potentially be. Luckily, the rear car park has a large shutter which can be closed (a few rear entrances look like fortresses - not a good sign). There is a wall with broken glass on top as well, to presumably keep something or someone out. You'll need to be a bit handy behind the wheel and reverse into the car park from the walled alleyway. The rear yard hold 6 cars max. There is a reassuring notice in the foyer than the car park will be closed after 10 pm, so I thought my car would be safe. But...at 11:15 PM the car park was still not locked. At 9 Am it was still open. It has not been locked at all! Advice - don't arrive here by car, or bring a small one which you don't really care about.

Rude and unprofessional staff

I had a very disappointing experience at Tanes Hotel. Due to unexpected heavy traffic, I was slightly delayed in checking out, and when I returned, I found all my belongings thrown outside in plastic bags. The receptionist’s attitude was extremely rude and disrespectful when I tried to explain the situation. This was completely unprofessional and inhumane — there are kinder and more understanding ways to deal with guests. I’ve stayed in many places across the UK, and I’ve never been treated this way before.

Value for money if you are on a tight budget. No frills, decent location with parking.

Car park for 6 cars, which was free. Location is good. Room is basic but clean and roomy enough.

No breakfast offer, just basic tea/coffee in room. My room I booked an en-suite but the communal bathroom on the same floor was frequented by people during the night and they were much too noisy. Street noise prevented me opening the window but that is because I usually sleep in the countryside at home.

Room was decently sized. Good value for money. City center was walkable ~30min. Free parking.

Noisy, due to the road in front of the hotel. Car park can only be reached by a back road in bad condition (lots of rubbish and pot holes everywhere). Ceiling showed a previous leak, carpet seemed damp below.

We chose the hotel as it stated there was free parking. We didn’t realise this would mean to just find a space on the street somewhere around the area. There was also no wi-fi in the room and the TV had bad signal. We only got told the wi-fi wasn’t working as we stepped in the room
