Il Casale di Maria

I had a wonderful stay at Il Casale di Maria! The location is ideal. It was very easy to find and within walking distance of many great restaurants. The room itself is beautifully structured, cozy, and spotlessly clean. What made my stay truly exceptional, however, was the host, Domenica. She went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed, offering seamless check-in support, wonderful breakfast options, and really good recommendations for local dining and sightseeing. She was extremely communicative, warm, and welcoming which is what I really appreciated. I highly recommend staying here and hope to return on my next trip to Matera!

A stay to remember! Everything was exceptional, from the accommodation itself to the hospitality of Domenica! The location was fabulous, and despite the numerous steps, it was easily accessible on foot while carrying a hand-luggage. The cave dwelling was super clean, beautifully decorated and had everything one might need for an unforgettable stay. As for Domenica, I felt like I met an old friend of mine! Her instructions were clear, the information and recommendations she provided me with truly helpful, as well as the taxi transfer she booked for me. I can't recommend this place enough!

A hint to those who might feel claustrophobic due to the lack of window(s): I was a bit sceptical in the beginning. However, my stay was truly comfortable!

It was exceptionally clean, very quiet and spacious room and bathroom. But the absolute best thing was Domenica, she was so incredibly friendly I always had a a chat with her when I saw her, she brought me a pistachio croissant from the bakery every morning and helped me out with my broken phone charger absolute excellent hospitality I will only go here if I go to Matera again ❤️❤️

Fabulous communication from a wonderful host. The traditional Sassi accommodation was beyond beautiful—authentic, perfectly decorated, and wonderfully cool, even on hot days. Domenica was a wealth of local knowledge and provided so much helpful information, making our stay even more enjoyable. A truly memorable experience.
