Ayur Ayur Resort & Ayurveda Retreat

As it was our last night in Sri Lanka, we wanted a nice quiet place as Negombo is quite a busy town/city. We did think about visiting Negombo first, but we were so glad that we visited it as a our last place as it was a bit hectic, and there are certainly a lot more beack hawkers and the like. The hotel was in a really quiet area, and was set with beatiful gardens, and whislt the pool was quite small, it was still lovely. The staff were all really nice and the food was lovely.

It's sometimes a shame when pools open/close late/early as it would be nice to have a quiet swim after 7pm or before 7am

The room was traditional, clean and comfortable.

I didn’t sleep well at the property. It is close to a train line and trains woke me up at 5am. I could then also hear staff downstairs preparing breakfast and shouting at each other. By 6 a lot of banging had also started. There were also limited power sockets in the room - just one by the bed which was too far away from the mirror to allow me to do my hair. The room was also very dark. The most off-putting thing, however, was breakfast. I arrived and could find no staff. It transpired that a man who was phlegm-ing into the river which runs alongside the restaurant was in fact the waiter. He saw me, wiped his nose in his sleeve and showed me to a table. When the food arrived, it was lukewarm and prepared and I was worried how long it had been sat around. The waiting also pointed at each item to tell me what it was - and touched the food. As I ate, he continued spitting in the river which was really off putting. I left almost all the food as I was so uncomfortable.
