Green Wood Villa Negombo

We only stayed for 1 night in transit but we were delayed at the airport and the host waited up for us to arrive well after midnight. Brekky was great and the rooms were clean, comfortable and cool.

Relaxing spot, great breakfast & staff.

A real oasis in Negombo, lovely pool set amid beautiful flowering shrubs and trees. Quiet airy rooms with comfortable beds, great breakfast (loved the coconut pancakes with cardamom). Ideal place to start your trip to Sri Lanka and it's Lucky who makes it all so fantastic. He's friendly and unbelievably helpful, also a mine of information about everything you need or want to know. He collected us from the airport, arranged a great Ayurvedic massage as well as a lovely bird watching boat trip on the lagoon, and drove us to Colombo station to catch the train to Galle. Highly recommend you stay at Green Wood Villa!

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy much about this property. The room was very basic, and we did not have hot water during our stay. Our son’s bed was very uncomfortable, and the sound insulation was very poor — we could hear all the outside noise, including trains passing nearby. There was also a party in the area during the night, which made the stay even more difficult, although this is not directly the hotel’s fault. The swimming pool was very cloudy, and we did not feel comfortable using it. We also found it disappointing that the hotel manager was not very friendly with our driver, which left a negative impression. Overall, this was the place where we felt the least welcome during our entire stay in Sri Lanka.
