I had a wonderful relaxing break and would definitely stay again

It had everything I needed, a lovely little country cottage.

I must admit it was tight to park but I did have a large car (Vauxhall Grandland)

Disgusting and smelly

The place made my skin crawl as it was obvious it hadn't been cleaned properly for a long time. Tired kitchen cabinets, grill ready for the bin. The place smelt yucky. A bathroom door you couldn't get out of. I had to be rescued. Tiny tired couches. Definitely NOT four star. Didn't use the shower as it was soo filthy. I went here for my anniversary waste of time. I contacted the owner two weeks before saying taking friends he didn't reply. Then leaned over the fence looking for more money for friends staying.

Cute cottage - pity about trainline

It had everything you will need for your stay. The size of the towels, lovely welcome pack, fresh milk in fridge and even cereal for breakfast.

I wasn’t aware there was a train line running behind and road in front so had very little sleep.

Had planned to use the BBQ but it wasn't really fit to use. Had to wash kitchen utensils etc before using them and wipe garden chairs etc - but not the end of the world just expected bit more with it been rated 4 star - it was a gorgeous little place but just could do with a bit of a deeper clean. However this wouldn't stop us returning and the host works hard to ensure a comfortable stay.

Adequate for a stop over.

Pleasant rear patio and small garden. Good quality bed linen. Milk, tea coffee, sugar and jam provided. Proximatey to M6 and Sizergh National Trust.

While we appreciate that the owners wife had been ill the property was not well cared for. We put the vac round when we arrived. The freezer was in need of defrosting and when we spoke to the owner he said it was tenth on the list of things to do. The cottage is next to the owner's property and amongst other holiday cottages. There are three stone steps down to the cottage.The parking is for one car and turning round was tricky. Turn round on the drive before the cottage and back in. The exit from the drive on to the road is also difficult. Not a property that we will be returning to.

Truly an amazing stay, very relaxing and town is just a short ride away.

The beds were so comfy and the little garden is truly enclosed so no dog could escape. The kitchen equipment is really good everything you could need including sharp knifes!

The hoover was broke that’s all I can say bad about the place!

Lovely cosy country cottage with everything you need for your stay.

Beautiful location and cottage. Comfy, homely and welcoming. Cottage was nice and warm for our arrival, beds were so comfortable and the welcome pack came in very handy. Even had dressing gowns and toiletries. Would definitely come back. Thank you! The Punch Bowl pub is worth a visit and the food is lush.

I’m a bit hesitant about this as I’ve a feeling there was a reason why but the kitchen was a little grubby. Had to clean the dog food stuck in plug hole, toaster hadn’t been wiped down since last used as crumbs all over the top, wiped dining table as crumbs on it, potato masher had potato stuck in it, the cooking oil needs to be replaced as dated 2017. I honestly don’t mind these little things however it was the smell from the fridge that we struggled with. I tried cleaning it but I think the smells coming from the drainage hole and with it being an integrated fridge it would be extremely difficult to sort out. I believe one of the owners might’ve been in hospital, (overheard a conversation in the pub), so can completely understand they didn’t have the time or frame of mind to pick up on these issues. I would still recommend the cottage to others.

Beautiful cottage, so cosy and warm and a very quiet location. Small courtyard which was totally secure for my dogs, a rarity in holiday lets.

I couldn’t get the tv to work, read a book instead. I think the outside light needs a new bulb but a torch was provided which was a nice touch.

very dirty and smelt, tv didn’t work in the lounge, kettle didn’t work, iron was marked so couldn’t use, loose step outside dangerous, patio paving was green dirty and very slippery so too dangerous to walk on, also had to pay an extra £15 cash on arrival for our dog

Property was left open for us. Keys in the door. We were told this in advance The property is well presented and clean and the kitchen well equipped. The beds comfortable

A little difficult to find by Sat Nav is tucked away on a tight corner making it difficult to get in from the south It was a cold windy day and the property was very cold and the central heating went off early. The owner was not at all friendly

Lovely comfortable cottage in the beautiful peaceful countryside

Lovely cottage with everything needed for a comfortable and cozy stay. It’s in a perfect spot to enjoy peaceful surroundings, but also only a short drive from beautiful Kendal. The bed I slept in was comfortable and we had no issues with temperature of the property. The heating was on when we arrived and the little fire gives the lounge an extra boost when needed. Also there are many extra blankets and throws to add that extra warmth if you do feel the cold! The hosts were lovely and checked all had been ok before we checked out. I would definitely come back again!

garden and kitchen has everything to cook and serve food,fridge and washing machine with dishwasher and coffee maker and teas and coffees all provided by host.

Does not meet the standards of cleanliness and a very cold cottage. Dirty toilet,cobwebs on ceilings a very cold bedroom’s without heating and unwelcoming owners, after we asked to turn on the heating in the house we were told that it was warm and that we are softies.The next day the heating was never turned on until 19.15pm and we were asked to leave.We had to drive through night back to Scotland because owner refused accommodate us another night as we complained to them the house is still freezing.No customer service is present at the place,all taken personally and we had feelings as owner man said to us he hate the place with the vengeance.Doesn’t care about any request coming from his guests.We are very dissatisfied with our stay and unhappy about our Weekends was ruined by this experience.Although we had our refund for night we didn’t stayed in we strongly believe it’s doesn’t cost £140 for staying over night in freezing condition without any heating in house in the evening.Also never been given back our £15 we payed in cash for our dog staying with us in the cottage.Not recommend that place to others.

Not clean enough, needs a proper clean everywhere.Only saw the owner once when we arrived to early and told us to come back later( which is fair enough). But would have liked him to ask later if all was ok. Hated the smell of dogs everywhere that clearly have been on the beds and furniture, sorry I am allergic , smell makes me feel sick.Had to wash all utensils and dishes before using as they where unclean.However this could be blamed on previous occupants. Why does the toilet only flush on occasions!.

A picture post card property. Beautiful.

Cosy and quiet. Pretty courtyard. Comfy beds. Well equipped. We found the passing trains infrequent and didn’t bother us. We didn’t find the parking an issue - there is one small space which we managed to fit our large estate car in and we could turn our vehicle around. Every property and setting will have it’s limitations as well as advantages. Owner was so friendly and the beds were comfy. All four of us slept very well each night and enjoyed the courtyard views from living room during the daytime. We couldn’t have asked for more than that.

The property definitely is given a very good clean in between visitors but it could do with a bit of deep/spring clean periodically, if this isn’t done already. Raised a couple of points which owner co-operatively listened too, regards difficulties with grill and another item as discussed, which he will take a look at. We really did enjoy staying in this pretty little cottage though. It’s a real treasure.
