very close to train station and food outlets, cafes, etc. good range nearby
very small room. Euro 8 is overpriced, cheaper in nearby cafes. Complicated access / check in system.
steep narrow staircase. Lift typical French tiny lift. Rooms very small, mire suitable for 1 rather than 2 . designed fir a quick overnight stop to cstch the train early.

Really excellent location near the centre of the city and close to both railways stations. Very comfortable bed. WE were right on the top floor so good views of the city. Delightful old- world lift to the top.
There was sometimes shouting outside after midnight which disturbed even with the windows closed.

The lift and toilet and shower area were different in some rooms - rooms are extremely small

The location was good, close to Flanders Station, 10 minutes' walk from Lille Europe. Close to centre.
Clean. Good wifi.
Note: access was via QR codes sent by email/app. This worked well but of course you need a phone with power during the stay.
Fine for an overnight stay.
Expensive for the facilities. The room was much smaller than indicated by the photos; our double room was very small with the bed pushed against the wall on one side.

I really liked the location, very close to the trainstations, central part of town. Also not far from a small shop if you are hungry since we didn't choose for a breakfast option, so this was great alternative.
The room was very small, one side of the bed was next to the wall, so you have to claimb over your roommate to get to your side of the bed.

Location was amazing. So close to train station, restaurants and shops. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was really comfortable and the views from the 6th floor were great.
We booked a superior room and it was so small. The shower stall was so tiny you couldn’t move. The lift was something from the dark ages

It was centrally located not far from the train station. The room was clean and well-appointed. The breakfast choices were great.
Needs some towel racks in the bathroom.

The location is terrific, especially if you are arriving/departing by train. It's a short walk to all the main areas of Lille, and food options are plentiful. I thought Hotel Ambassadeur was a great deal.
It's not really a dislike; it's just something to be aware of. The hotel is located in a busy part of the city, so noise is a factor. If you're sensitive, bring earplugs or stay somewhere else.

Chose this hotel for its proximity to the railway station and Lille Town centre.
The room on the 6th floor was small and minimalist but suited our needs for 2 nights.
Recently refurbished and clean.
No air-con, but a fan was provided.
No kettle, but there is a coffee machine in the breakfast room on the first floor, which we made use of.
The breakfast was good enough and plentiful...bread rolls, pastries, cheese, jam, cereal, yoghurt, fruit. Also, coffee machine with various options and different teas. Bottles of water also freely available just inside the main entrance door.
The QR code entry is a great idea... Once you get the hang of it. Hold your phone back far enough for all 9 codes to scan at once.
The antique lift is a novelty and very small!
The staff we encountered were friendly and happy to help.

Great location, easy to access, good selection at breakfast, tea/coffee available at all times.
Could get noisy due to the café under the hotel open until very late at night, room did get very warm on the top floor so the balcony door was left open but then noise from the street was very audible!
9.0 / 10.0
Location for the train station was excellent at the room was clean and spacious.
It was noisy but this was understandable given the city centre location. A kettle or coffee machine would have been good.

The old style cage lift
Very small room at a very big price. (Presumably as it was a ‘rugby’ weekend).
Nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom, so small
Bed pushed against a wall so had to climb over each other.
QR code access was a pain and took numerous attempts

Comfortable bed and great localization. Nice surprise with “green me up” and free soft drinks.
Bathroom doors.

Plain and clean, bright room
No staff at “reception” (there’s no real reception in fact, just an entrance which you get in thanks to a QR code)

Location location location! And great value for money, neat and clean
The communication about the entry being by a QR code was not clearly understood, fellow travellers assisted. The very steep stairwell was adequately addressed with a tiny lift!

Prime location directly across from the Lille Gare (McDonalds side).
It's a cool concept where checkin is all through your phone. Although, this could be a problem if your phone dies before reaching the property. You will receive check-in instructions via email.
The free coffee in the morning was nice.
Paper thin walls. Unfortunately, the room next to mine had a party from 10:00pm to 06:00am. I couldn't get any sleep and the property was unresponsive.
Party aside, this could've potentially been a pleasant stay. I probably won't return, but the price and proximity to the train station are tempting.

Great little two star hotel located smack bang in the middle of Lille. I visited in early July 2023.
Location: 10 minute walk from Lille Europe (top tip, cut through Gare de Lille Flandres). Hotel directly opposite side entrance to Gare de Lille Flandres. Three brasseries and a Carrefour City right outside. 10 minute walk to La Grande Place, 10-15 minute walk to Tourist Office. Gare de Lille Flandres connects you with lots of interesting places such as Arras (27 Euros return for 1 Adult).
Room: I was travelling alone and had room 603. This is on the top floor and in the middle of the building when you stand outside. Good view, very French. Room had queen size bed I think, mattress not too soft or hard for me, slept quite well on it after a couple of nights; small bathroom through sliding door containing toilet, shower, sink, illuminated mirror; small cupboard for one; small desk for one; two windows and one set of French doors so plenty of light and ventilation; thick blackout curtains; no air conditioning so had to keep windows open at night during (remember to bring insect repellent); laminated wooden or polymer floor; hotel sends you a QR code to your phone to open both the room and hotel main entrance (top tip, don't put your phone right up to the lock, hold it a couple of inches away).
Staircase: traditional French looking spiral staircase with traditional French looking lift running up its centre.
Breakfast: small dining room on first floor with seating for between 15-20 people. Very generous. Coffee machine offering various styles of coffee and hot water for tea; tea bags provided; Fresh baguette, fresh brown seeded loaf; two different types of brioch/sweet bread; pain au chocolats, croissants, a selection of conserves; muesli, mixed nuts and dried fruit; in the fridge they had various fruit juices, plain and flavoured yoghurts, small portions of butter and brie, fresh milk; a fruit bow.
Staff: all very young, polite and helpful.
Air conditioning would have been nice.

I liked everything except the mouse.
When I was leaving my room at 5 in the morning I literally saw a mouse running from the breakfast room. This was not something I was expected to see.

Close to the stations and shops. Room was nice and clean ( we were actually upgraded to a comfort room which was nice). We actually booked the hotel since getting a shuttle from Lille Europe to Brussels Airport. Ended booking the room the next day, after having our flights postponed.
Nothing. All was good
8.0 / 10.0
The location is great, the bed is comforble, many stores and restaurants are nearby, the QR code for accessing the building and the room.
The lift door often does not close correctly, which blocks the lift.
The bathroom has a very loud noise of air extraction, I suspect the extractor fan on the roof makes the roar in the bathroom even worse.
The door rattles when someone opens or shuts the door in the hallway.
The QR code use has a learning curve.
