New Town Guest House (Adults Only)

Our room was on the lower ground floor and was characterful and very comfortable. Remus (not sure of the spelling) who manages the property welcomed us after we got our key through a key safe system and explained how everything works. He suggested some places for dinner and where we could get groceries in the immediate area which was fantastic after a long flight. There’s a common room with a fridge for all the guests to use which is a lovely touch. We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was a 30 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile but a quiet neighbourhood in Stockbridge. I highly recommend this property.

The location was perfect for us.

The shower, although useable, was not hot and could do with updating.

I really liked the feel at home atmosphere of the guest house and the location in a small suburb just outside of the city that had everything I needed in regards of restaurants and shops but was also close to the city.

The rooms were clean and there was a good coffee machine. The location was reasonably central. The room wasn’t too small.

No check-in email so no key box code sent. The guy who let me in was utterly bizarre and needs to practice his customer skills majorly. I’d suggest he is kept away from customers and he wears clothes other than slippers, dungarees and a grubby tee shirt …and really tries to pretend he likes people/guests. The communal sitting room smelt very strange/unpleasant and was furnished like a junk shop, I don’t think I’d want to sit in any of the chairs as they look so like something you’d see dumped on the pavement. The first person up in the building wakes everyone else up when any water is used. Maybe paint the place so it doesn’t look like a rundown student flat in colours that aren’t yellow and black. I didn’t unpack because there was only a hanging rail for clothes. If you’re larger than average you won’t fit in the shower.
