Mill View-an idyllic base to explore The Cotswolds

Location, compared to the larger villages and in the Cotswolds, Northleach was more peaceful in terms of crowds.

If you’re a light sleeper the church bells sound as a clock and will ring through the night. Door lock was a pain to use, the door seems to need fitting and the mechanism needs lubrication. It would be nice if there were instructions how to lock/unlock the door. My son called me in exasperation that he could not figure out the door- it took me a while to figure it out. We stayed when there was an unseasonable heatwave. There are no fans in the property to provide a modicum of relief. The temperature was stifling inside. I laid a blanket on the bottom floor and rested there as it was the coolest part of the house.

The layout was perfect for our needs.

Only one minor issue which was working out how the shower worked but once done we were good to go.

Mill View was a brilliant location for our purposes for a winter weekend, as we were going to a wedding in the church in North Leach which was 2 minutes walk from the door, so it could not have been better. Excellent that the property comes with a car parking space as otherwise parking in North Leach is very tricky. Cottage itself is petite but has everything necessary. This is a No frills property, but we thought good value for money. A bit of a squeeze for 4 adults, best for a couple and child, or three adults. Property warmed up quickly and nice hot shower. North Leach's tiny centre is so close, with lovely butcher, baker, Budgens, pharmacy, cafe and pubs and that is a definite plus to staying here. Good communication with host about when to deal with broken bedroom window handle on arrival.

The beds and sofa bed mattresses are all a bit on the hard side for us. Mattress toppers would be nice. The double sofa bed is definitely on the very small size for 2 tall adults to share and best for children/ one single adult only I think. Otherwise if 4 adults were sharing again, then I'd bring my own sleeping bag and mat and be prepared to sleep on the floor. Small kitchen was fine and had everything necessary for a short stay only. Very little storage. Under counter fridge was annoying in that the milk bottle shelf on fridge door was broken/missing and there was no where else in the fridge for bottles to stand upright other than by taking a shelf out - even less fridge storage.
