Knee Deep in Paradise - Meredith Lodging

Constructed on this beautiful cottage, it was completed in 2009 and stocked top to bottom with brand-new furnishings. Every detail from the construction planning to the type of cookware was selected to provide a comfortable and enjoyable gathering place regardless of the weather outside! With approximately 2500 sq. feet on three floors, four bedrooms, a covered front porch, and large back deck, there is plenty of versatile space to spread out and enjoy a nice beach retreat.
The comfort of guests is a high priority. Each bedroom has new, high-quality mattresses, a down comforter, 300 thread count white sheets, shelving and hanging space in the closets, decorative hooks on the walls for bulky coats and sweatshirts, plenty of drawer space, and lots of extra pillows and blankets. In each bathroom, you will find piles of thick white towels and a hair dryer.
The layout on the top floor includes two bedrooms, a laptop/desk area with 2 nautical chairs, a balcony, and a full bath. The first upstairs bedroom is perfect for a family with three younger children. It has a queen platform bed, a built-in bunk bed with a trundle, a large 8-drawer dresser, a walk-in closet, pack and playpen. A 32” wall-mounted flat-screen TV and X-box 360 allow you to watch a DVD movie (in the X-box) a cable TV show, let the kids watch cartoons in the morning, or just play a game. Plenty of floor space makes the room perfect for the whole family.
The second upstairs bedroom was designed to be ideal for one couple. There is plenty of light provided by the west-facing room and a surprisingly quiet space, a private balcony. The furnishings and wall colors were all selected to create a cozy adult environment.
The main floor has a Primary Bedroom with a queen bed and a twin trundle underneath. The large bathroom has double sinks and built-in shelving. A 37” flat-screen TV hangs on the wall so you can relax and watch a Cable TV show before going to sleep.
The spacious living room has a good quality twin sleeper sofa, plenty of soft comfortable seating, a ceiling fan, a 50” flat-screen TV, a DVD player, an iPod HDMI connection, HD cable TV, and the iPod/android music dock. The large dining room has seating for nine, plus the breakfast bar provides a spot for four more! The kitchen is fully stocked to cook for a large group, with service for 20. The spacious open floor plan, breakfast bar, granite counters, and natural gas cooktop make it a pleasure to prepare family meals! The chilled mugs and margarita glasses in the freezer should help keep beverages cold while you soak fresh crab in the crab pot or grill some local catch of the day on the BBQ. You will find most appliances you need including a 12-cup coffee maker, coffee grinder, espresso maker, griddle, Vitamix blender, waffle maker, toaster, ice maker, crockpot, and hand mixer too.
The half daylight, 1,000 sq. foot basement is extremely versatile with its main focus being recreation for all ages. There is a large bedroom with a king-size bed -- the most comfortable bed in the house! The living area has 2 full-size futons for additional sleeping capacity. But most of all, the basement is designed for fun!
Play with the full-sized air hockey table, pool table, or kids' play area complete with foam padding on the floor, toys, and a perfect-sized table and chairs. The full entertainment system, including a 55” Smart LED TV provides a huge sound to play the X-box 360. The state-of-the-art Kinect makes your body the controller instead of a handheld device for active, off-the-couch games for all ages and is guaranteed to make you laugh and smile. The smart TV includes free unlimited Netflix movies and TV shows, web browsing, and downloadable TV apps. All of this is available while staying toasty warm by the gas fireplace. You’ll also find a kite on the wall ready to draw you outside again. A full bath, laundry room, and door to the outside fenced private garden make the basement complete. The garden is wind-protected and is a wonderfully intimate place for a couple just to step outside for some quiet time and summertime fragrances. It’s gated on both ends so your youngster or fido will stay safely nearby. Enjoy the access to overflow parking on the grass lot on the West side of the home for larger vehicles.
Enjoy lunch outside on the glass lattice-enclosed deck with seating for 13. More Adirondack chairs are on the front porch if you need them.
You must visit the reef at the bottom of the beach access stairs at low tide. The pools are close enough to easily walk to, but also safely away from wandering little feet. Follow the charming boardwalk to the beach lined with beautiful cottages. Also, enjoy the Olivia Beach neighborhood park and sand volleyball court! You’ll find a volleyball for your use in the basement or garage. The two old-fashioned bikes fit the community and are a great way to tour the neighborhood. Start a campfire to cook s’ mores and meet the other wonderful neighbors!

Really enjoyed this house. Everything was as it was listed. Everyone really enjoyed the hot tub and the pool table. Our only complaint was the blue couch in the living room has bad springs and you almost go to the floor when sitting on it. The beds were alsmo extremely high and soft. I used the kitchen foot stool to climb up. Other than that, the place was lovely and in a good location for beach fun!

Very comfortable beds that can accommodate a large crowd. Lots of outlets to charge all of the devices. Plenty of hot water, lots of bath towels and beach/pool towels. Downstairs air hockey, pool table and big TV offer great inside entertainment. Front porch with chairs and back deck with chairs/table and BBQ make it pleasant to hang out. Community pool and a park within a quick to walk are great for kids. Refrigerator, dishwasher, and some living room furniture could be updated. Ice maker not working and dishwasher soap dispenser not opening, if those things fixed it would have been 5 stars. I would definitely stay again if those things repaired. I also did have problem finding keybox. It is on porch column opposite front door, kinda high and I just kept looking around door. I'm short too and with sun shining in my eyes it was hard to see and reach push buttons. Dog bowl, mat and towel for our doggy was nice.

I would love to leave an excellent review for this house but while it’s in a lovely place and it looks amazing from the surface there are some flaws that are hard to overlook.The house is advertised to host large groups but the living room space doesn’t seat more than seven. Half of those seats are so uncomfortable it would have been better to sit on the floor. 2 loveseats and three chairs! One loveseat is so broken down the cushions sink below the front.The game room downstairs has games and a pool table. While we got to use the pool table quite a lot there are only 2 cues. 6 others are in the rack but are either broken or have no tips. 90 percent of the games are missing pieces, none of the puzzles are complete and there weren’t any complete card decks. For goodness sakes throw some of this garbage out and get new. The exterior deck area is great but the hot tub cover is super heavy and no place to put it easily. Most of the jets don’t work, there are no lights and we were advised that it has a slow leak.Other smaller irritants were: laundry was running when we arrived so had to fold and put away towels. Very minimal dishwasher pods and dish soap, garbage bags for a 7 night booking. No recycling available. Advertised free Netflix which we were never able to access even after repeated contact with the office.Despite all this we enjoyed the home. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms. Everything was clean.
